I've been to both the Atascadero and Paso Robles locations. The staff is always very knowledgeable and polite. I was able to obtain tags and have them made on site almost immediately upon order. The team was really polite in helping me find the items that I was looking for. When they weren't in stock at my local store, they called over to another store for me and put it on hold. This was really helpful and save me a lot of time. I did feel like the cost of the item was slightly higher than if you purchased it online. read more

Bizzaro world experience at Lemos in SB. I buy a bag of dog treats, and as I walk out of the store, I see that there is a tear in the bag, so I turn around, tell the person at the cash register I was with seconds earlier and ask to switch to a bag that doesn't have a tear. "I can't do that, you have to see the manager. She should be back in 30mins" - Oh wow... ok I'll be back in 30mins then. So 30 minutes later, I come back with my bag to ask the manager for a replacement. I asked why I had to waste 30 minutes, why the employee at the register couldn't just take the broken bag and give me one that isn't open. She proceeded to start answering with the most condescending attitude "Let me tell you why we can't do this blah blah blah". I told her that I didn't want to hear her story, that I just wanted to replace my bag, to which she replied that I could pick up my torn bag and please leave. I picked up my jaw from the floor, picked up my torn bag of dog treats, and decided to share here why this was my last visit to Lemos. read more

I've only been to this location a couple of times. Usually I go to the one in Carpenteria but recently they were out of pine shavings so I called this one and they had some. Purchase was easy and staff was polite enough. Quick in and out which is what I wanted. I'll come here again if Carpenteria is out of something I need. Glad they are open on Sundays. I want to focus on the 330 E. Gutierrez Street in Santa Barbara where the manager, not the staff, on Feb 27th rejected my return of an item because it did not conform to the 24 hour return policy. Over the last 15+ years I have over-paid for buying thru LEMOS vs online. Read your receipt carefully & if not consistent what THE MANAGER is saying pay attention. Store staff person comment is not binding. She, the manager, will not be flexible regardless. However https://www.chewy.com has never challenged returns when they are legitimate. Fast, easy return. Love the staff at Lemos; not the store management. Time to save money & simply order online. Sad but true. read more

We have been taking our dog to Lemos on Gutierrez for a few years and each time the experience is worse. The last three times I have complained about the aprons they supply. They are worn to the point that you have no choice but to get wet. Today they only had three aprons and all four tubs were being used. When I mention to the staff they respond as if it is the first time anyone has complained and that they could care less. In addition, the nozzle on the air dryer at the tub we used today kept coming off. I showed the employee cleaning the tub next to the one we were using and his response was, "Yeah, it keeps doing that." For $17 it would be nice to have the supplies and equipment be kept up. For $10, I get a better experience at Hendry's Beach or Elings Park at the outdoor washing stations. read more

Came for pet wash and recognized one of the employees - she's an amazing trainer who was able to teach us how to quiet our dog who wouldn't respond to treats while on walks. So seeing her here was reassuring. Pet wash stations is $15 for unlimited time to finish washing and drying your pup (Henry's beach ends up being way more than that for us- since you have to keep feeding it money). They do have a pet wash loyalty program and I believe multi wash deals but I opted for one time wash. The wash is different from Henry's beach setup. This place almost reminds me of doing it at home on a raised washer without having to clean the mess. They have a water sprayer (which took me a while to figure out- turn it on by flipping it up/down the back part of hose), provide shampoo and drier. It was nice that they have waterproof collars so you don't have to get your pets wet!! The collar hooks onto a clip that can be attached to wall so your dog won't try to escape the bath. The shampoo was watery to me but it could have been the brand, but nevertheless it lathered well and made my pup super soft. The drying options are using the pointed end or taking it off so it's quieter. I liked having the pointed one on because it seemed like it would make my pup dry faster but he was too scared of the noise so I had to use the quiet option and towel dry. I will say it was a lot easier than giving him a bath in my tub, even tho I have a removable shower head. At home, he's constantly trying to jump out of the tub but at Lemos- he was able to people and pup watch so he was a lot more calm. Highly recommend their pup wash! read more

After a nice stroll at Butterfly Beach we stopped at Lemos for a bath for our new rescue Rip. Luckily a tub opened up within a few minutes of arriving there. Lemos has the most diverse selection of high quality pet food, toys and treats in town. Our Boston Terrier has a sensitive tummy. Years ago an employee at Lemos recommended a particular brand of dog food, we tried a couple of different flavors of it, found the perfect fit, and are hooked for life now. Obviously the employees are super knowledgeable about everything they carry, and even carry your goods out to your car; I almost feel guilty sometimes. Goleta and downtown locations are equally good and have the same consistent and excellent service. I wouldn't shop anyplace else! read more

With my three dogs I find myself frequenting many let supply shops in Santa Barbara and Lemos is always a sure bet. The Carpenteria location has the biggest selection of dog toys, and bird items, but the location near Garden Street is just as good with a helpful staff and good prices. So yesterday I took my poor aging dog, Schmoodle, to the veterinarian because she has terrible arthritis just like her mother. As a special treat I wanted to buy her a toy. There was one in particular (a beaver) that I had in mind because I bought one for Schmoodle over a year ago and it lasted for quite some time. Well, she finally destroyed it a few months ago and I just couldn't bear to watch her carry that limp beaver carcass through my living room one more time. Well, it turns out Lemos didn't carry that same beaver so I had to settle for a seahorse. Which is nice since we do live near the ocean. I figured it would remind Schmoodle of the beach since she's now too old to go there herself. As I was discussing the pros and cons of various dog toys with the nice employee, I took my eyes off Schmoodle. And if you know Schmoodle, you NEVER take your eyes off her. She is a conniving and sneaky little thing. While my back was turned, Schmoodle began stealing samples from all of the bulk dog treat bins that she could reach, which is fairly high considering her short stature, she has this uncanny ability to elongate her neck much like a giraffe...especially if there is food just above her reach. One time, I swear she picked the lock on my bedroom door just to steal a half eaten protein wafer off my nightstand. The fact is, Schmoodle will go to great lengths to shove anything in her porky mouth and she can't be trusted! By the time I noticed Schmoodle eating from the bin, she had probably already devoured twice her weight in dog biscuits of every kind...cheese flavored, turkey flavored, grain-free...you name it. Except salmon...she doesn't like salmon. It's a dirty fish. (In Schmoodle's defense, they do keep a lot of treats at dog level...perhaps a sales tactic). I can't tell you how embarrassed I was and I offered to pay for what my sneaky thief dog had consumed. But the nice employees said not to worry about it. Which only added to my guilty consciences (I have two of them...I'm Jewish) so in addition to the seahorse, I purchased an assorted bag of bulk treats for my little thief dog, though heaven knows she did NOT deserve them. My point is this: Not only does Lemos have a great selection of everything for animals (at a fair price), they also don't press charges when their sneaky 4-legged patrons shove half the store inventory in their greedy little mouths. Mr. or Mrs. Lemo should get a pat on the back for hiring such lovely, diplomatic and forgiving staff. read more

I have been a longterm customer at Lemos. Yesterday, a salesperson helped me get a Kong Cloud inflatable collar. When I got home, I blew it up and found out that is was super small for my pet. I immediately put it back in it's box. Took it in today for an exchange within 24 hours and was told that they would not take it back because I blew into it. I would have to pay full price for another one. When I asked about it, they said "it's policy" even calling another store to back themselves up. There was no conversation about other options just "it's store policy". I suggest they put a LARGE sign by all these collars that says they are not returnable if you blow them up and perhaps the salesperson can make sure customers are leaving with a size that will fit their dog. The packages are stapled shut so you can't check. In the meantime, because I was treated with such poor customer service, I will not return to Lemo's and have told all my dog friends in the tri-counties of my experience. I started going to lemos after taking a training class at the humane Society I was not sure about this store at first because I would just shop at petco but when I entered this store I was greeted with the biggest smile Raymond was the first to welcome us in. Over the time I started to come to lemos mostly ever once a week cause I never get enough stuff for my puppy, daylene was one of the first person to help us and she was the kindest with helping us to find a harness to odor stuff or just answer our question. Lisa helped us find new food for our puppy cause she can super picky and her advice was amazing I went home to feed my pup and she ate the food she suggested. I went in yesterday to get more things for my pup and Raymond Samantha Ryan were so helpful and trying to find new things for my pup to try. What I'm really trying to say if your looking for a loving and caring place to shop for your pet lemos is the place they always love my puppy Luna and always treat her so kindly and give her treats. I can't pull up to lemos without my pup getting over excited.
