I've had my ups here. I've had my downs. They've reached out to smooth things over and that means a lot so I'm adjusting my review.

Overall, you can't go wrong with patronizing this business. They are fine at what they do. A-OK indeed. I've had some experiences there that have led wife and I to move to another place. The first cleaning I had there was the most brutal cleaning I've had in my life. I've gone to the dentist 2/year my whole life and never was my mouth so raw. She was not gentle. Maybe in a rush, I don't know. They set me up with a different cleaner the next time, she's been fine. The other main issue was when I had some major mouth pain and was eating less and less solid food. I had done a lot of googling and had a couple ideas of what the problem was but either way I needed help. I was in the chair for an hour after x-rays while they tried to figure it out. Here's the thing, y'all. These dentist ladies are highly intelligent, but they are somewhat new and young. This was probably the first saliva gland stone they had seen. I could tell they were researching it in real time trying to figure out what was wrong with me. The hygienist assisting me was googling it on the computer behind me I'm fairly certain. So they said it might be a stone, could tell me very little about it even though I was asking any question I could to understand what was wrong with me. They took my $95 and referred me to someone else. He took my $130, gave antibiotic (gland/stone was infected, that was the problem), and referred me to someone else. He took my $150 and told me keep an eye on it. For context, my dad had a saliva stone. Went to the dentist. They took it out right there. Now THAT'S a dentist! Update 2/23/20 - Adding 1 star to 4. After posting this review I was contacted by the company. Yelp really frowns on that, but nonetheless LVD does care about customer satisfaction. I received a refund on one of my visits which was very nice of them. He explained that he hates to hear about bad customer experiences and wanted to make it right. He also said the day I was there the main Dr was not in the office. And the guy they referred me to (who then referred me again) they've stopped sending referrals to. My takeaway from this is if you call with a customer concern they will try to make it right (you might have to write a public review first =D) read more

At first, our household loved this office. However, several glaring mistakes in billing and other experiences have ushered us to find more reasonable dental care elsewhere. I do not recommend this dentist for the following reasons: 1) Patients are pressured to undergo unnecessary and expensive dental procedures. When contesting certain procedures, the dentist attempted to bully us into paying for oral surgery - yet, when a second opinion was sought from other dentists, it was clear that the surgery was not necessary. Also, they only recommend one oral surgeon and refuse to write recommendations others (most likely because they negotiated some kind of referral fee). 2) We would often be told no charges were necessary when in office, that dental insurance could cover the costs. However, within a few weeks, we would receive invoices for care (saying insurance didn't cover it). In several occasions, the invoices were cancelled due to billing error - but only after they were disputed for weeks. 3) Certain procedures which should be taken care of in one sitting (such as periodontal scaling) are divided into multiple sessions and spread over several months, extending the pain and inconvenience. This isn't done for the benefit of the patient, but rather so that they can bill the insurance company more. It is extremely disappointing to write this, as we originally became clients here with enthusiasm. After over eight visits over the course of the year, it has become clear that this is not the kind of place whom we'd like to do business with. read more

She always provided excellent care has taken great care of my teeth for the past 10+ years. After moving to West Nashville I still continue to see Dr. Peaks. Even though I live across town she is worth the drive. I always feel taken care of by her and her staff. I would definitely recommend her. read more

I HATE dentists as a whole but actually LOVE this one. First off, I have the attention span of a nat and fidget the whole time I'm there. I always feel like they are going to find something just so I have to go back. I hate when I walk into a dentist office and the lobby looks like it cost more than a home in the Gov Club! Who pays for that? Us, the patient! Don't get me wrong, these guys have a nice office, they just don't have the exotic saltwater fish tank embedded into the wall, surrounded by fancy artwork, imported Italian leather sofas and chairs, topped with a high end mood lighting system and Kenny G softly playing in the background that blends perfectly with the trickling sound of water coming from the life sized Roman statue fountain of the Dentist! When dentists fees are regulated better by your insurance and they aren't allowed to up-charge you for services that your insurance doesn't pay for, I will start trusting them more. I love the fact that this dentist is a straight shooter. They don't make up issues with your teeth or try and up-sell you on gimmick stuff like fancy overpriced electric tooth brushes, or ridiculous teeth whitening products. I'm sure you can buy them there if you want them but they don't push it on you. They also don't try to pressure scare you to pay extra to have a special oral cancer test or un-needed X-rays. They do the standard oral cancer tests and I'm sure if something didn't look right they would explore other testing. The Staff and hygienists are super nice and the Hygienist actually does a great job cleaning your teeth! As a whole, I think you will love this dentist and totally understand what I mean with regards to my statements above. I don't like paying for a ritz Carlton lobby that I should only be sitting in for a few minutes because the dentist wants you to know how much money they make! I've been a patient of Dr. Filos for three years, and always have a great experience. They're efficient, and everyone on staff is warm and friendly. I've received excellent care, and, when I developed gum issues that needed specialist attention, their recommendation was excellent - everything is in great shape now! I have never had a more horrible dental experience!! First my original appointment was changed the day prior because they apparently just realized a dentist wouldn't be in the office that day and being a new patient, a dentist needed to see me. When I had my appointment, I sat in the waiting room 15 minutes past my appointment time - there are signs around that say if you are there 20 minutes past to let the front desk know, which is already a sketchy omen - but when I got brought back, I waited back there just as long if not longer for anyone to even start looking in my mouth. The girl cleaning my teeth kept coming and going, and would disappear for 10 minutes at a time before she would come back and keep talking to me, and maybe keep cleaning my teeth. Just my luck, they found I needed a filling. Cut to a month later when I was able to get in for that appointment... the filling was on a back molar. I was brought back 15 minutes before my appointment time, but waited and waited and waited anyway. I told 2 different people that my mouth was more sensitive to numbing, so to use less. Finally someone came and stuck a needle on the inside of my cheek and left. More waiting. My cheek was nice and numb, but nothing else. I didn't even care, I just wanted to get going. Finally the dentist comes back and starts drilling- it hurt like nothing I've ever experienced before- but I let her keep going. She had such a difficult time getting things to stick between my teeth so she could work on it, she's poking and shoving and someone else came in and was shoving things in my mouth. Finally they were done. My cheek was numb from about 10am to 4pm because no one listened to me, and my tooth was in so much pain!! The day after my mouth is so sore and of course my retainer doesn't fit so I've got to go back. I can't even bring myself to go back to this place so I made an appointment elsewhere to have my retainer fitted in. I will never be back. I have never had any dentist have such a problem with working in my mouth before. They can't even numb properly, and they definitely don't respect your time. read more

Although the people are friendly and the office is nice. My experience was quite different then everyone else's I'm seeing on here. I went for a toothache and needed some oral surgery as well. I had to go back and forth between the the oral surgeon and the dentist offices a few times due to complications. Dr. Peaks office never sent the x-rays over to the oral surgeons office. They had to call and ask for them as I was sitting in the chair at their office. Without going into a lot of detail I will sum it up this way. I didn't feel that patient care was the priority over the money. I got a second opinion and it turns out there is far less work that needed to be done for much less money. read more

I was extremely anxious about going to the dentist as it had been way too long since my last cleaning and I was incredibly embarrassed and ashamed. Candace, my hygienist, was so kind and comforting and professional and made an experience that I was dreading into a completely positive and fantastic experience.
