Booking an appointment was easy - everything else was very challenging. They charged my for a contact fitting I didn't ask for, then didn't give me my prescription, I had to call back twice and go back in to get it. Disappointing. Went there today to look at frames. Website said on Saturdays they are open until 6pm. Got there at 5:29 and doors were locked, nobody there. Either they need to update their website with new hours, or they simply left early. I expect it was the latter. I went there a couple of months ago for an exam. That part went well but in the end the woman did not give me any explanation of what she found, like I got at another Lenscrafters the year before. I have cataracts so it would have been helpful to have a discussion about how they were progressing, but no, it was here is your envelope and have a nice day... Having just read some of the recent reviews combined with recent experiences, makes me think I need to go elsewhere to get my glasses. read more

We saw the ad online advertising, Locoste frame and glass packages. From $99 to 179. Upon entering the store and looking at some of the frames I had asked him. Where are your frames you were advertising.? I asked him about the special that was advertised on the LensCrafters main website. He said oh we don't have anything like that. Then I said OK so tell me where do they start at and how much wood lenses be. Right off the bat he told me the lenses would be $400. After looking back at the website, I again approached the salesman who told me yes, lenses are included, but it's just the glass. Not the prescription -so sad he has to lie to make his commission sales. I'm sure these kids are on commission, I think they were too there. They were probably 19 or 20 years old. Only had sales in mind. LensCrafters management, please have matching advertisements posted in your stores that you do on the website to Luer customers in. At least educate your staff in The marketing advertised on your website so they can efficiently help your customers and not make them feel foolish for asking. We talked to three different groups that were shopping for glasses there, they all told me they were not going to buy glasses there after hearing our conversation and we're heading off to Costco... Absolutely terrible. I strongly recommend you find a different eyeglasses provider. They were slow in delivering my glasses. I received no communications, so I went in to their store. They told me that their quality control had rejected my order so they had to redo. The version they delivered was blurry. Then they told me they would not refund me because it was too long after my order was placed. read more

I gave them a new frame in which to insert a lens. They canceled the order with no explanation. Either their or their supplier lost the frame or misplaced it They did not return my frame to me. The value of the frame is $103.79. They did not return the frame nor did they provide me $103.79. If they provide me a check for the $103.79 or if they return the frame, I will not pursue further consumer agencies reporting naction. I am 77 years old and am stressed with this matter, and cannot believe that LensCrafters will not return to me my property. I would be happy to meet with LensCrafters sales person, Usama , his manager and with local authorities to resolve this matter. Let the consumer arm of the district attorneys office resolve the matter . They actually wanted me to order new glasses with a different frame ; obviously, I have no confidence in their ability to perform. Unfortunately, this has not been a pleasant experience. Dr is amazing but staff is Horrible!!!. If you don't fit with their program don't bother. Don't expect to see the doctor or speak with her after your inital visit. The staff does everything in their power to keep you from speaking with her. I physically stopped by, I called several times to set up an apt. I was told I was to be handled by the staff. I had a very brief question for the doctor and it escalated to a very unpleasant experience. Go elsewhere. There are plenty of other Opthomologists available. read more

I had gone to two other eyeglass store before going to LensCrafters in Corte Madera. The customer service was excellent, and the company policies were dedicated to my satisfaction. One young woman, Carolina, in particular was amazing at her job. She was articulate, knowledgeable, understanding, and she offered me various options and solutions to make sure I was serviced and satisfied. The assistant manager also was kind and affirming. I returned after my last visit since 2017, and extremely grateful of the service received. I wish I got names, but honestly everyone from the Eye Exam portion was stellar. The doctor was extremely educational, normally I yawn (and very blunt about it) when someone is pushing information that I have zero interest - but, he captivated my attention. Never had I received that level of explanation from all my 40 years of seeing eye docs, and now things make sense on the eye photos, and what they get from the eye dilation. Called at 11:35 today to ask for an ETA on my contact lenses which I ordered about a week ago. I was told by a John, in verbatim, "There are customers right ahead of you, can I give you a call back?" and took my details down. At 2:15PM I have yet to receive a call, so I just took the initiative and called. Another one answers, I told him the situation and within 5 minutes of being on hold, I got an answer after telling me that John was probably working on it. This company needs to do better. Work with your suppliers on getting tracking numbers for orders and send it to your patients. read more

I bought prescription sunglasses in April 2013, I have had to have the stems adjusted for fit 5 times since then, now in January I have some scratches on one lens, they will NOT buff out the scratch nor will they give me a new lens, because I chose not to have the glare coating applied?! Poor customer service. My lens popped out and I took in to fix. I took in on a Friday and they said it would take a day - would call me on Saturday afternoon. Never got a call. I called them on Sunday and they said glasses were ready. I verified their hours and drove down (20 mins) mid afternoon. When I arrived they had posted a sign saying they would be out for lunch for 30 mins. I insisted that i just needed to pick up my order. They reluctantly found my glasses and gave them to me but did not check for fit and adjustment. I will not likely go back to this store. Who closes for lunch mid-day when their posted hours say they are open. Not customer -friendly. read more

I am on oxygen so I asked my nephew to stop by Lenscrafter and pick up some "Lens and frame cleaner" also "Dru lens towels"! He returned home and I opened the lens towels and then I started opening the lens cleaner and the spray did not spray out of the container! I called the number on their receipt and I rang and rang finally the phone was picked up and then hung-up! I checked the store hours and they are supposed to be open till 8 P.M. I went for a repair job. The right temple piece on my glasses had fallen off due to the loss of a small screw. I showed up and was told the repair would take about an hour. The repair was made and my glasses fit perfectly. There was no charge for the repair. This is a great place. I will go back for a new pair of glasses in the future. read more

I have never been treated more rudely by an employee over the telephone, when trying to understand the cost of an exam and what is covered by my insurance, EVER!!! All the salesman wanted to do was get an appointment on the books, and he was unwilling to explain, with any courtesy or clarity, what the final cost of the exam was, and what my insurance would pay. I have purchased multiple pairs of glasses, as well as contacts lenses, on several occasions from them, but I will be very hard pressed to go there unless they are able to employ kinder, more helpful staff. Dr. Hum is great but the front office is horrible. The person helping me with my order (Kevin I think) acted as if I was bothering him to even be there - even my daughter noted how annoyed he was to have to process our paperwork. I have waited over a month for my contact lense prescription to come in and (after calling and calling on status) it has arrived but I will now need to wait over a week to get in for a fitting and they wont send to another lenscrafter that could see me sooner. The quality of service here has gone down so far that the convenience of location no longer makes it worth it. Also very expensive (even with insurance). We'll be at Warby Parker or a different doctor from now on. I should have read and trusted the other recent reviews that share this opinion. read more

I concur with a number of the prior reviews. Website said the store opened at 9:00, got there at 9:30 to a locked dark store. Came back at 10:05 and the person inside told me to come back in 10 minutes. Securing a copy of a prescription took 5 follow up calls/visits. The staff i encountered were difficult to say the least. With all respect to the kids that work at this store - they try. I lost my glasses that I use to work at the computer and needed a new prescription. I was trying to save money by ordering a single prescription with my old frames. LC Corte Madera performed the exam but when I explained that I needed the reading prescription for the distance of the computer screen she wouldn't do it. The shop that they sent my frames to broke the frames in half and claimed no responsibility. I now have a broken pair of frames with a prescription that is not useful for computer work because the distance is too close and the doctor would not accommodate my request for specific distance. They gave me a copy of the prescription but would not give me the full report and I had to ask twice for pupillary distance. I will avoid Lenscrafters in the future. read more

Came along with my fiancé to his eye exam appointment. We were there for close to an hour and I was wondering what could be taking so long. He had made the appointment only for an eye exam, nothing else. After he had finished, he told me it had taken so long because the store employees and doctor were trying to hard sell a brand they work with. The doctor could've cared less about how she treated him, all she cared about was selling him on their preferred brand of contacts. To top it all off, he didn't even get his prescription that day. After a week of silence on their end, my partner called about the prescription. Again, their first instinct wasn't to help, but to try to sell him on their contacts before finally handing over the prescription. We will not be coming back! read more

This place is fine If you dont mind being heavily upsold on their eye scan for $40. The "doctor" was condescending about old school dilation techniques to the point of me feeling like an idiot if I did not do the eye scan. So she walks me in the other room and does the eye scan and literally gives me ZERO info from it! So an additional $40 later, I felt stupid and got zero info out of it. When I asked what was learned from it, she says, "Nothing, you just have to come and do it every now and then use this as your baseline but most places dont have this machine so best to come back here." Additionally annoying is they are out of network with VSP plans so cheaper to go to a higher end boutique eye place. read more

The worst customer-service experience that I have EVER had. In my life. Seriously. It has been almost ten years since I have written a review of any kind, but when an employee of a business that I've frequented for over a decade lies to my face because he's unwilling to take responsibility for a serious mistake, I guess I'm left with very little choice. A few days ago, I dropped and stepped on my glasses, breaking the wooden frame. I was able to buy identical replacement frames which were delivered the following day, and took them to the Corte Madera Lens Crafters (where I'd purchased the lenses for somewhere around $600) in order to have the old lenses swapped into the new frames. I gave both pairs of glasses to an employee named Brandon, who took the left lens from my old glasses and forced it into the brand new frame without bothering to loosen the screw used to hold the frame together. The frame popped open, and he couldn't seem to get it to close around the lens, so he told me that that the lenses were too large for the new frames (the frames were the same brand and model) and they would need to be shaved down, a process that would take an hour or two. When I returned, Brandon told me that my new frames were "defective". Upon hearing this, I realized that he'd broken the frames when he forced the lens into them without loosening the screws, and I asked him to admit his mistake. He responded that he didn't know what I was talking about and that the frames were clearly defective. I took them home, and examined them, discovering that he'd pulled the metal anchor out of the lower frame, rendering them unusable. I checked the size of the lens relative to both pairs of frames and found that his claim about the lens needing to be shaved down was false. I can't in good conscience ask the manufacturer of the frames to replace them, as they broke due to Brandon's mishandling, and as these are my only pair of regular glasses in my current prescription, I'm forced to wear prescription sunglasses until I can replace the frames (again), at a cost of $315. Since I use my eyes for work, I'll miss at least two productive days at my office. I've spent thousands of dollars over the years with this specific Lens Crafters location, and I'm stunned that any company could possibly stay in business while breaking a client's property, then refusing to take responsibility for it. I guess when you're owned by what is essentially a monopoly, you don't have to bother with your customer's needs. read more

Was unable to confirm insurance due to not having my member number. I then called insurance, used my SS# and easily attained my member number. My family and I took a trip to Tiburon, It just so happens my husbands final pair of contacts ripped that morning, so I made him an appointment to be seen that day since we were in that area. He had a great appointment, he got a trial pair with his new prescription and we were off. Two weeks later he tells me that he wants to order his old contact lenses with his new prescription, no problem right? WRONG! I called the office to do so and they tell me that they need to order the old type of lense in his new prescription and he needs to try it on first before they can order it. Problem is we live an hour and a half away. There's no way they can ship the trial lenses to our home we have to drive all the way over there to pick them up. I literally have spent about 3 hours trying to figure out a way to get him his old lenses with a new prescription. Walked in on Saturday and was able to get an appointment immediately with Dr. Adam Glover. He did a careful exam and after which told me I had a serious venous occlusion in my right retina that was causing at least some of my visual problems. As my vision is everything for my work I took it seriously. He set up an appointment with an ophthalmologist on Monday AM who confirmed the diagnosis and by Monday afternoon I was at the retinal specialist for a vitreous injection (the retina was very swollen/edematous) and full retinal evaluation. I am not exaggerating when I say he probably save the vision in my right eye. Vision already seems better and without reservation strongly recommend Dr. Glover. BTW, I did buy new glasses and lenses which I will pick up in a couple of weeks. read more

Not one of the sales persons offered to order them for me except for Mike at the Corte Madera lens crafters. They had my perscription on file and took my AARP discount which compared to the promo they were running was better. Picked up my glasses the next week while I waited in about an hour. Wow, I've not been to have my eyes examined since 1991 when I had RK surgery. From the moment I talked to Kensey that organized my appointment to the reminder calls the day before then by Mike the day of, I was already primed to having zero anxiety. Mike immediately acknowledged me when I walked in even though he was with another customer. He then brought me to the room to fill out the new patient information form where I met Wayne. Going through all the new technological advanced methods was fascinating, but slightly stressful for me. He was very calm and made me feel relaxed for such a thorough exam. Dr. Timothy Mock was the most impressive professional I've been fortunate to meet since moving to Marin 6 years ago! He has an innate ability to immediately make you feel at ease. His communication skills are flawless especially since I was beyond understanding all the technical terms used during the review of the results of my exam. I actually left feeling empowered with this new knowledge that I can share with others when discussing optical issues. He was so patient in answering all my parochial questions in responding in a way that I totally understood the answers.
