My husband and I have been patients here for the past 4 years since moving to Novato. Honestly- I went here initially because it's so close by our house. However, we keep going here because it's a well-run office with good staff and a nice selection of eyeglass frames. Their prices are super reasonable and it's comforting to know we can stop by anytime we need our many pairs of glasses adjusted. Novato's small business community is hurting in a lot of ways. They will try to sell you the most expensive glasses. Even to your kids who will break or lose them. As a parent if you oppose, it makes you look like the bad guy. Come on, our kids don't need Tom Ford glasses. Just because we have the money doesn't mean we want to spend it all. Give me a break........ I would rate my overall experience 3.5 stars if that was possible, but keeping things positive, I feel ok with 4 stars. On the plus side, the intake staff were friendly. The doctor was friendly and explained things clearly. There were some up-charges for certain aspects of the eye exam and she clearly explained them so I could understand and decide if I wanted those additional tests/evaluations. On the downside, they are appointment only, which includes looking at frames and having your frames fitted after they are ready. This is a minor annoyance, especially because they do not have a modern website with integrated booking. It's possible to request an appointment date and time online, which then becomes an email conversation - not very professional. Related to this, while I was waiting to see the doctor, the administrative staff invited me to browse frames, which I did. I was then prodded by the optician with several questions before she stated "oh, so you DO have an appointment." Yes, in fact I did, and she could have asked me directly if the issue was urgently pressing - or she could have asked the administrative staff instead of hassling me. Again, just not the most professional way to interact with customers. All in all, I'm happy with my experience and the frames/lenses and would consider repeat business. I do miss my previous optometrist though. read more

Marin Eye Care (more specifically Judith--who helped me in selecting my new frames) was referred to me by a mutual friend also in the eye care business. Caitlin was very helpful in scheduling my appointment. She also did a great job of running some eye tests when I arrived, and came to my aid in providing wifi access (the mobile signal was terrible there) when I wanted to send some photos to my wife. Judith, oh my, was amazing. She was so caring, thoughtful, energetic, and professional. She was also very patient in making sure that both of the new frames I chose were exactly what I needed. All my anxiety of selecting new frames simply disappeared in working with her. So grateful. Dr. Mozayani was also stellar. Fun, witty, and professional, she ran a thorough eye exam and charismatically said "I will help you" as we started my dry eye treatment. i was referred to Dr Mozayani to remove an object from my eye that was very uncomfortable .. i cannot give her the amount of praise she deserves !!! .. most importantly, she removed the object from my eye, with no pain or discomfort .. although my vision was a little blurry, after the removal, she tried and really wanted me to see the object she removed !! .. because my eyeball had scratches, and hurt when i blinked, she inserted an contact lens, which made the pain stop !! .. she is thorough, very sweet, real and fun .. in the end, she trusted me in a way i don't want to describe here, but really blew me away !! .. i am no longer in any pain, THANK YOU, Dr. Mozayani !! .. the others in the reception area were also very nice and i highly recommend Marin Eye Care ... Today I had the pleasure of meeting Benny and Miranda at Marin Eye Care. I had a very small repair job that if not addressed would have meant the loss of my blended eye glasses. So I dropped in and asked them to tighten a tiny screw that was going to fall out. I left the glasses with them for repair and for the next 1/2 hour tried to shop at nearby Nuggets. It was a very difficult 1/2 hour of trying to read labels make my way around the store. I started to get a headache and could not wait to get back to Marin Eye Care so I could retrieve my ability to see well. I was so relieved to retrieve them with the screw securely attached. I put them on looked around the room to notice all the detail I was missing, then cast my gaze back at Benny and Miranda who were smiling. "What do I owe you?" Nothing! No! No! I come here for Dr. Mozayani. She is super sweet, very informed, and has a holistic attitude toward life and health that I find wonderful in any health care practitioner. I have only positive feedback for the medical experience here. ALSO, I needed driving glasses for a trip and the timing was tight so she even let me pick up my glasses after hours to make my trip. Recent glasses that I purchased here were barely worn and had lost a screw so they were unusable. I Brought them in for repair and was told that it would take several days for them to be repaired (repair = find and insert screw on a frame they just sold me after an eye exam). While I recognize that all businesses are facing challenges because of Covid, this is simply ridiculous, especially since the glasses became unusable almost immediate after receiving them since they were kept at a second home. While I would like to think this was an isolated incident, my wife's glasses which she ordered there after an eye exam took months to receive even though the exact same pair could readily be purchased online for a fraction of the price and be delivered quickly. It's frustrating to think that the fastest solution is to just buy the exact same pair from an online retailer and have them shipped to my home quickly va waiting several days for the store that sold these to me to simply find a screw. While I'm a big supporter of local small businesses, common sense and reasonable customer service and accommodation should prevail. read more

Prompt, efficient, friendly, and helpful. The ladies at Marin Eye Care are all so wonderful. I'm used to hours-long eye exams, but this one was so speedy! I was really pleased. I've gone to the same eye doctors forever, and it's ingrained in my psyche that staring into a blinking light means a puff of air in the eye shortly after, but they have a cool high tech scanner that flashes and you're done. Also, the lenses during the vision test totally adjust with input from the computer the doctor uses. SCIENCE! If you have need of excellent eye care, this place should be your go-to. I visited this location for the first time recently, I am new to VSP insurance and this was my first eye exam. This place was the first one to come up as a premiere location on the VSP site, my husband was told by a coworker that we would save more by visiting one of these "premiere locations." The exam part was great, no complaints there. As a forty something, my vision has diminished in the past few years. Due to COVID I put off making an appointment for quite a while. After the exam I was meant to meet with one of the sales people about choosing a frame, I was interested in progressives and readers, but prioritizing my budget. I had to wait nearly half an hour to be seen, which in itself isn't a big deal, but there are no walk ins, appointments only, so I wasn't sure why my appointment was placed so closely to others. When I was called over the woman helping me was very polite, BUT, I made it clear to her immediately that I was looking for the cheapest options only. She got up and started bringing frames over to me, rather than having me look at the display and choose for myself. I was really put off by this. Every frame she showed me was upwards of $250, I've bought my kids glasses for years at Kaiser and am well aware of how affordable they can be. I tried to take a look for myself to find a more affordable frame but she managed to place herself between me and the display at every turn. She led me outside to try on frames mask free, which I did out of politeness, knowing I wouldn't be buying them at these prices. When I chose the ones I liked she said she'd plug in my insurance and give me a quote. The quote was $600+ for the 2 pair. I told her I'd like to think about it and asked for a copy of my prescription, I had been there well over an hour at this point and was over it. She said. "Oh, well we can look at some more affordable options," this really pissed me off as I was clear that was my objective from the start. She rang me up for my $10 copay, gave me a receipt and said have a nice day. I asked again for a copy of my prescription and she fiddled around with her computer a bit, then said she couldn't get it to print. I said "no worries, I can wait." She seemed aggravated. She went up to the front desk and several minutes returned with my prescription in hand. The next day I went to Costco and found two frames that I LOVED, had a fantastic experience and got 2 pairs of glasses with all the bells and whistles for $120! Also, possibly worth noting... when I asked the doctor about contacts she said that they don't really work with my prescription ( around +1.75). I'm not sure if that's true, but my oldest has a similar prescription and wears contacts, it just occurred to me that maybe this was her attempt to steer towards their pricey frames. I could be wrong about that though. read more

Dr Mozayani wonderful. I went there for regular exam and mentioned I wanted to try contacts. My last experience with contacts was horrible, but I was willing to try again. Dr Mozayani was so great in showing me how to get them in and out. I had to have three training sessions and the last one did the trick. Hassle free experience. Jennifer at the front desk is very professional and answered all my questions. They had the lens for my perception in stock and it took an hour for the new lens to be installed into my personal frame. There were no hidden fees, it cost $80 for only the lens + $20 insurance, which I decided to add on and it's completely optional. read more

The staff is very friendly and professional. I felt at ease with everyone there. I loved how much of an explanation the doctor gave me about my eyes and showed me the pictures of my optic nerve and vasculature explaining to me her interpretation. Judith was very helpful in picking out glasses and figuring out how to get the best deal with my insurance. They offer more upscale frames and have a good selection. If you want really cheap frames then don't come here. If you want quality glasses, help picking out flattering frames and good customer service then I highly recommend it. read more

I have carried a pair of sunglasses around for a year in the car because the screw came out and I didn't want to bother anyone. I bought one of those tiny eyeglass kits and couldn't do it. Forever, you could go into an eyeglass place and they would replace the screw and off you go. I don't go to malls, so I put it off. This place was right in front of my parking space, so I went in. "Did you buy these here?" "No." Told them the aforementioned offered up the sunglasses, screw, case. They had a little confer in front of me, told me I HAD TO SIGN a HIPPA agreement so that I would not "SUE THEM if the glasses broke." Hello? Then, one leans into me and whispers, "She (the optometrist) will probably charge you." Placing a screw in a pair of glasses is done by the optometrist? SINCE WHEN? When I said absolutely not, she stated, "Well, maybe she won't." There were two people at the front desk. One "professional" helping someone. That was it. No, thanks. read more

My family bought 3 pairs of glasses from Marin Eye Care on our first family check up...more than $2,000. Since that time our customer service has been poor. Very arrogant. I have had the rubber/plastic nose pads replaced twice - a simple pop in place effort. My prior out of state optometrist office provided the service for free and immediately. Marin Eye Care seemed pissed that I wanted to wait on my glasses the first time I had the nose pieces replaced and charged me $10. The second time they were going to charge $15 and said they would be ready sometime the next week. I requested my glasses back and took them to Site For Sore Eyes. Site For Sore Eyes was vey friendly. They fixed my glasses in 30 seconds and charged me only $5. I will not go back to Marin Eye Care - ever. read more

This review is for their business. I did not see Dr. Mozayani, but something doesn't smell right here. I went for an exam and was told that through my insurance company I was eligible to receive prescription sunglasses, which I ordered and paid $140 in out-of-pocket expenses. A week later, when I went to pick up my prescription sunglasses, there were no prescription lenses in them. The sales woman said that she thought I just wanted the frames. I had to pay an additional $25 for the prescription lenses to be tinted so they could be worn as sunglasses. Horrible customer service, and their prices are very expensive. read more
