I was a first timer to this location today, and I would not visit again, unfortunately. The front area looks like it has been renovated or updated fairly recently, but the building is old. The exam rooms are showing their age, and are not well insulated for sound, making them not as private as I'd prefer. The form I was asked read and sign, pre-appointment, could've been straight out of a comic strip... It was a copy of a copy of a copy, it appeared. Black and white, double-sided, and really streaky vertically. Almost impossible to read a line of it, especially given that I was there because I misplaced my last pair of readers a couple of hours before I walked in. So I asked the receptionist about the content, and the purple highlighted sections where I was to sign or initial, assuming it was typical pre-exam patient release form legalese. (It was.) BTW, I went in for a preventative annual eye exam, and as I only wear readers, I'm unable to speak to the experience of purchasing glasses there. Overall, a meh on the exam.

After 2 days I got a phone call saying they found my frames. They had not. They pulled a similar pair off the shelf and tried pass them off as my frames. It was an absolute lie. This entire process was an absolute fiasco. And this will be my last visit to Clarkson Eye Care.

I could not check the details of my vision insurance coverage due to the website being down, but I…read moreremembered that I had a $200 allowance for either frames or lenses - I just couldn't remember if it was a credit or a rebate. I asked for help. BIG mistake. An employee checked and assured me the answer was REBATE, not CREDIT. I double checked and she confirmed. I would pay for the services in full and be given instructions to claim my $200 rebate upon picking up my lenses. I paid my bill and when I picked up my lenses several days later, I asked about my rebate. The staff looked at me as if they had never heard the word before. There would be no rebate. The employee I spoke with previously got very rude and treated me very disrespectfully until I threw up my hands and left in frustration. No point in trying to reason with a person like that. If you like getting correct information, being treated like a customer instead of a virus, and spending the correct amount of money, I'd suggest going anywhere else but here. If you hate money and peace of mind, by all means, make an appointment at Crown Vision.

My family and I have been going to Dr. Brad Byergo of Midwest Eye Associate for at least 5 years…read morenow. We first selected Dr. Byergo from our insurance list, and the fact they have two offices in our area. However, we have a friend that worked for some very top notch eye doctors in St. Louis that remembered Dr. B from when he interned with this particular group. That was the primary and final factor in our decision. He came highly recommended and we quickly learned why. Since becoming patients we have received excellent treatment not only from Dr. B but his staff as well. If you at looking for quality then this practice is an excellent choice. They have a very good selection of frames and contacts and they always make sure you have exactly what you need. I often describe them as a sit down restaurant versus going to a fast food place. It might take a little more time however it is worth it. Without reservation my family and I recommend Midwest Eye Associates.

Overall the service for my exam was fine but when it came down to buying glasses the sales tactics were obvious and horrible. When I started to question the costs I was given diff excuses trying to justify why my glasses were sooo expensive, even when having vision insurance. They told me that buying the same glasses with my insurance would cost me more based on the funny math used for the lens and bundling pricing. Highly recommend taking your prescription to another company or online to save you a lot of money! Sad!
