My husband bent the earpiece on his favorite prescription sunglasses. They were very expensive, and he was afraid he would have to purchase a new frame. I was in the vicinity of Clarkson Eyewear on Clarkson Road in Chesterfield, so stopped in with the mangled glasses. To my delight Emma greeted me and asked how she could help. I showed her the damaged sunglasses and she said she'd attempt to straighten them back to the proper position. It worked! I was ready to purchase new frames from them, but Emma was able to restore them to like new condition. The best part was there was no charge. Briana, Jody, Emma and another associate there could not have been nicer, more professional or accommodating! They run an excellent business. They carry quality eyewear and offer outstanding service. I would HIGHLY recommend not using this location but if you do, never EVER give them your real phone number or email address. The 1729 Clarkson Road location learned how to treat their customers from the "Wells Fargo School of Business" in that they sign their customers up for paid services WITHOUT the customer's consent. They schedule me for an appointment every year without fail without my knowledge and then text, email, and call non-stop reminding you of the appointment that you never agreed to. I have asked them to stop, but that has never worked, so now I'm asking them publicly...please delete all of my info. I am never coming back. I've been thoroughly disappointed with my experience with Clarkson Eyecare. Here is a timeline of events that have occurred. February 3rd - I have an eye exam and buy glasses and new 1-day contact lenses for a year and spend over $900 on both (with insurance). I've never had 1-day contact lenses previously so they said they would not charge my card until I confirmed I liked them. February 5th - They charge my card without asking if I wanted the contacts. February 9th - I go into the store personally to tell them to order the contacts without bringing up the fact they already had charged my card. February 18th - I call to see the status of where the contacts are and they said they have not ordered them. Not sure how this experience could be worse on something that should be so straight forward? read more

Dr. Justin Wilkinson provided the most thorough and complete eye examination that I have received in years. In doing my refraction, he did 2 tests for glaucoma, took a close look at my retina, a close look at my natural crystaline lens, and assessed general ocular health. I we are progressives and have myopia, astigmatism, and presbyopia. The astigmatism makes the progressives a real pain to get right. His refraction was spot on; the alignment of the progressive lenses was also perfect. Frames were abundant and my preference of rimless frames were offered in numerous styles. If things go out of alignment, I can simply stop in at any location for adjustment - a piece of cake with their many locations. A great customer experience and fantastic patient care. Like the others, compared to competitors, I felt overcharged and concerned about how, with excellent insurance, I walked out with a quote of over $700 for two pair of glasses. keep in mind, my insurance covered the exam and $199 each towards my $250 and 299 frames ,respectively, for me and my wife. Spent less than half of that and walked out with 4 pairs of glasses and contacts last year at American. Concerns from a first time buyer at Clarkson. I get that different providers have different pricing, but that significant? Seemed agitated when I didn't want to add on all the bells and whistles. Wife walked out and didn't want purchase hers. I can't say enough about how much I value my experience at Clarkson yesterday. They conducted a very professional approach to a very important process - improving my vision. I had been to two optometry stores earlier, and I didn't sense that the opticians were telling me the truth about what I "had" to buy. The first optician was adamant that I had to buy a list of extras for my new lenses, including a drilling fee, a polishing fee, a UV fee, a blue light blocking fee, an anti-glare fee. Why? To improve their profit. The second optometry store insisted that I could not wear rimless glasses because my prescription calls for bulky lenses. The employee's presentation was unprofessional: used car salesman language and style, nothing at all precise, cheesy. When we went to Clarkson, I told the optician what I had experienced at the other two stores. She said I did not have an unusual prescription and that I could use rimless frames or any other frames in the store. The selection of frames was plentiful, and the optician was very professional. She was all about facts, precise explanation of choices, and she said there would be no charge for the extras Store #1 insist that I pay for. Except for a non-glare coating. Apparently that's an extra charge everywhere, but it's minimal. Our optician was positive without being sales-y and she gained our trust. The cost of my glasses is 1/2 what the estimate was at Store #1. Everyone knows that eyeglasses are ridiculously expensive, and to sense that the experience and the price was appropriate at Clarkson made me feel confident they know what they're doing. read more

Been a patient of Dr. Reynolds for several years. She's always worked to help me get my vision "tuned in" to help me see as well as possible as I've progressed through the years. Clarkson Eyecare has a great selection of contacts and frames. When my golden retriever puppy decided to chew on a pair of my glasses (2x), they have been great to work with in getting replacements both times. They were also great to work with on a Maui Jim warranty issue on my sunglasses. I find their entire team to be friendly and customer focused. So disappointed. A complete waste of $236.00. My family and I have purchased glasses and contacts here for decades. On this particular trip, could not find frames I liked, so I bought some online. The optician didn't mention that the frames with my NEW prescription might be twice as heavy as the pair I had been wearing. I wore them, in pain, for 2 weeks. I finally went back in to see if there was anything that do could be done. They offered me half off $400 lenses plus I would pay full price for a new frame. 10 months ago, I went to Clarkson eyecare for lasik surgery. The doctors at Clarkson were very helpful in helping me understand the process of lasik. After my consultation I decided to go through with the surgery. 10 months later, my vision is better than ever as I now have 20/15 vision. I go to Clarkson for my regular eye exams and chose them for lasik because of the professional and helpful nature of their office. Asked when I scheduled my appointment for a rough quote for my visit and contacts and was told that someone from the office would follow up with me. It didn't happen, strike 1. After my appointment I was told that my trial lenses would be available to pick up during the following week. I called on that Friday because no one had contacted me and was told that my trial lenses had been delayed. No one called me with an update, strike 2. After my follow up appointment to check the contacts there was a computer issue that was not allowing connection with my insurance company. I took some time to look at some glasses frames and was interested in purchasing a new pair. I was asked if they could call the next day to finalize everything and place my order. That did not happen, strike 3. I really like Dr. Langford. She took the time to answer all of my questions and help me understand the best options for me. I wanted to purchase some glasses as well but I will be taking my business elsewhere. It's a shame that NO ONE at that office followed up on anything. If something changes you should let your patient know. If you say you will follow up with someone because of a technical issue then DO IT! I will not be back to any Clarkson location and will not recommend them to anyone. If someone does go there I will be sure to let them know about my experience. read more

Dr Cinnamon was awesome!! Unfortunately her staff is very unprofessional and not knowledgeable about insurance. As other customers stated in their reviews they overcharge and aren't very friendly or caring. After they charged me for a copay for my son and myself 50$ after I explained several times I don't have a copay for supplies. I ended up paying because they were closing went back the next day with insurance company on the phone and the assist manager for my cash refund since I paid with cash she explained that they would have to mail it. Wow what an inconvenience you will have to mail me a check when I paid cash because your staff was incompetent and ignorant about vision coverage. Inconvenience me again. So be aware and make sure your knowledgeable about your vision insurance because they aren't and seem like they are just trying to get over. I forgot they also charged me $94 for my son to learn how to put his contacts in for 5 minutes since it was his first time. He had no issues and I could have done the same thing without the 94$ charge. Overprice and unknowable employees. Please learn the vision insurance coverages so you won't continue to inconvenience and take advantage off. 2 months later and we are still waiting for the refund and a call regarding the situation for my husband who went to the Ellisville location. Really disappointed with this branch. I have been going to Clarkson eyecare for the past 10 years. This is the first time I visited the Chesterfield branch. My insurance had recently changed, when I called to setup my appoinment they took my new insurance information. When I checked in to the front desk on the day of my appointment, I was told that they do not accept my insurance. When I asked the service rep why they did not tell me this when I booked the appointment, she said that I called the call center and not the office. All calls are routed through the call center, so I really don't understand her comment. Also I called Clarkson eyecare's call center right? Not Walmart's. I had a medical issue with my eye so I couldn't cancel the appointment either. I was forced to pay out of pocket. I called the insurance company later to find out that my insurance does cover Clarkson eyecare and the doctor that I saw. I had to call the office again only to be told that they don't accept my insurance. After I told them that i talked to the insurance company they said that they would ask the billing department to file the claim. And the claim did go through. I had to go through this hassle of doing my own groundwork and calling the insurance company when it is really their job. It does not end here. I had a second visit and the doctor had advised me that I could wear contacts again since my condition improved. When I wore my contacts the next day, I had the same issue I experienced before. My eyes were bothering me and the contact lens would not stay in place. So I called the office and explained my condition and asked if I could speak to the doctor. They said that the doctor was out of office for the next 3 days. And the answer was simply to come back and see another doctor or to not wear my contacts. I found this to be irresponsible behavior. Why couldn't I talk to another doctor over the phone and get my question answered expecially when I just saw the doctor the previous evening? Do they just want me to visit them again so that they can charge me? Also this is unheard of in the medical field that they are no back ups when doctors are out of office to answer calls. I would never visit Clarkson eyecare again. read more

I went to go pick up lenses for my glasses, which by the way was the second time I was coming by this Clarkson Eyecare to get them because they messed up on the size the first time. I had to wait two weeks to get the pair of lenses, ridiculous. I walk in and I am greeting by woman. I asked her to check if the lenses for my glasses had come and if they had if she could put them in. She came back and said, "yes." She took my glasses and went to go do it. She seemed in a hurry and also as if she didn't want anything to do with me. She got the glasses back to me and asked if they felt alright and I put them on and I for some reason they felt different. I took them off and looked at the lenses. One of the lenses looked smaller than the other to me, so I told her,"One of the lenses looks smaller." She then told me that they were the same. Then she started arguing with me that they were the same. She then said, " They are the same size. I will measure it, do you want me to measure it. She said this really rudely, but then I answered sure. Before I know it she snatches the glasses out of my hands. This was extremely disrespectful, unprofessional, and just uncalled for. I tell her to give the glasses back, she doesn't and I am just infuriated. I tell her that she is unprofessional and that what she did was very unprofessional. I then said that I want her to put the old lenses in and give me the glasses back. She says she can't do that. This is just crazy, so I told her to get her manager. The manager came and she asks what the problem is. I tell her that her colleague is very unprofessional and rude. I talk some more the manager she tells me my lenses are the same size and then she says they are a different size. All in all my experience with this Clarkson Eyecare was horrible. 1.They are very rude 2. They act like they don't care 3. They are unprofessional 4. Excellent customer service at the Chesterfield MO office! I took my elderly mother in law who was visiting from out of town here with a broken ear piece on her glasses. They immediately took us in and fixed her glasses free of charge and we didn't even purchase the glasses here! They were very compassionate and helpful. Would definitely come back here!!!!
