My family and I have been going to Dr. Brad Byergo of Midwest Eye Associate for at least 5 years now. We first selected Dr. Byergo from our insurance list, and the fact they have two offices in our area. However, we have a friend that worked for some very top notch eye doctors in St. Louis that remembered Dr. B from when he interned with this particular group. That was the primary and final factor in our decision. He came highly recommended and we quickly learned why. Since becoming patients we have received excellent treatment not only from Dr. B but his staff as well. If you at looking for quality then this practice is an excellent choice. They have a very good selection of frames and contacts and they always make sure you have exactly what you need. I often describe them as a sit down restaurant versus going to a fast food place. I don't normally write reviews but felt the need to share my horrible experience for others to consider. Overall the service for my exam was fine but when it came down to buying glasses the sales tactics were obvious and horrible. When I started to question the costs I was given diff excuses trying to justify why my glasses were sooo expensive, even when having vision insurance. They told me that buying the same glasses with my insurance would cost me more based on the funny math used for the lens and bundling pricing. Highly recommend taking your prescription to another company or online to save you a lot of money! Sad! read more

The doctors (Byergo and Doerfler) are fantastic! The eye examinations are very thorough and they explain each test, purpose, and results in a way that is comprehendable for a non-medical professional. My family and I have been a patient at Midwest Eye Associates (St. Peters) for well over 15 years and have never had an issue. This time, I ordered both CLs and glasses which arrived very quickly. I have just moved to the area and chose this facility based on my insurance coverage and reviews. It's too bad my experiences don't match the ones I have read. I needed new glasses and contacts and my husband needed new glasses. The doctor there tried to save me money by having me try cheaper contacts, which I can appreciate, but I was told to wear them for a week to try them. I could tell they weren't going to work before I even left the office, but I was encouraged to "give them some time", so I did. After a week, I had a horrible headache and was terrified to drive more than I had to. Switching back to my original brand (from my old place) solved my contact issues. My glasses on the other hand, they have still not gotten them right after 2 returns. I picked them up today, and I had to wait and watch while they put the new lenses in, after they had the chance to do it for 3 weeks. The first lady didn't know how to do it, so she handed it over to a second lady who said she knew what she was doing and the other girl was new...but she struggled quite a bit and finally handed them to me to try. They still didn't work well, but I had to pick up my daughter as I wasted so much time waiting. Once again, I was encourage to "give them some time." It wasn't till I got home that I realized she put in a screw that doesn't match my glasses at all, it sticks up out of the frame, she scratched the corner of the frames all to hell, and now that ear piece is wobbly. I WILL be back up there to see if they will make it right or not. I have had glasses for over 20 years, and I have never had this much trouble with a place. Which reminds me of the unsatisfied conversation I heard while waiting in the waiting room with my husband for his appointment before I even got my glasses in the first time. It sounded like the older gentleman was having the very same issue I am having with his prescription not being correct and him "never having this many issues in over 40 years." What was my husbands experience? He was quoted incorrect insurance pricing, so I had to bring my insurance paperwork up there to clear up with them. It was during his appointment that I saw them do his eye measurement when I realized they never did that with me, so another thing that had to be fixed with my prescription. He said his prescription was weird too, but is just dealing with it because he doesn't have the time or patience to keep going back up there. In conclusion, I will stay with them long enough for them to either fix my glasses or give me a refund, then I will be finding a new place. read more

I wish you could give no stars. I never had any issues with the Creve Coeur office, but the St. Charles office seems to be mainly driven by money rather than care. My husband had an eye appointment for an infected eye and they told him it was just a stye. The next day his eye was twice the size and he had to go to urgent care. His infection was all the way down into his cheek by then. Ok, people get things wrong, I get it, but the worst part is the "sold" him a little bag of things to treat a stye without telling him it cost anything. It was $70, which he thought was the cost of the exam. It was NEVER opened or touched. They said they can't put it back in the shelf so they are refusing to give us the money for it back. You would think they would gladly take it back no matter what given the fact they misdiagnosed him and we had to pay again to see a real doctor. Rant over. Just be careful with this office. read more

So today I went there, and after being asked by the front desk in a poor manner if I was really married to my husband and I would be asked for my ID and then followed by a look at my ring finger. I provided the desk with information then texted my husband to ask if this is where he and his ex wife went for care. It was apparent that they must know his ex wife. I went to this place for just a vision test and to get a reading glass but the amount that I was billed and that was sent to the insurance without even my knowledge is as below: Refraction Service diagnosis : $30 Screening OPTOS & OCT : $40 Co-Pay: $35 Lab Supplied Everyday SV POLY VISO : $150 Luxottica frame: $280 Optomological services and medical examination and evaluation , initialtion of diagnostic : $150 That's a total of $534.37 Who goes for a simple eye checkup and lands up with a bill of this kind esp when I do not have a vision insurance. This is ridiculous and I have been trying to fight them but was forced to pay this. For now I paid but trying to dispute it and see if anything can be done.
