Long wait time, no courteous employees who work there. Avoid unless you find a closer/accommodating LensCrafters (like in NYC).

I've been a patient of Stamford Ophthalmology on and off since 2015. The physicians and clinical…read morestaff have always been outstanding, which is why I turned to them for my cataract surgery in late 2024. The medical care deserves five stars. Unfortunately, my experience with the billing office has been the exact opposite. On March 5, 2026--more than a year after my October and December 2024 surgeries--I received a voicemail saying, "I think we have an old address. We tried to send you a bill and the PO returned it." I returned the call immediately, provided my current address, and asked for an account statement showing exactly what I owed and why. Instead, I received a confusing printout that did not answer my questions. I never received a proper bill at my updated address. When I later called to follow up, the first employee told me only that my account was "closed" and that I would have to pay to have it reopened. He could not explain what that meant or answer basic questions, so he transferred me to the office manager. After a lengthy hold, Stacey repeatedly interrupted me as I tried to explain the situation, became increasingly hostile, raised her voice, and ultimately hung up on me. The only useful information I received was that the account had already been turned over to collections. What is so frustrating is that I was trying to get clarify and pay the bill. As soon as I learned there was an outstanding balance, I called back, updated my address, and asked for documentation explaining the charges. Rather than receiving a clear bill and an opportunity to resolve the matter, I learned only weeks later that it had been sent to collections. I paid it today and will never return, nor will my partner.

The billing department is a complete mess, but the worst thing was the office manager. She must be…read morerelated to someone in the office, because she both screamed at and then hung up on me when I called for the fourth time to resolve a billing issue. (The billing office kept insisting that she would be calling me back because their hands were tied, but after two weeks I hadn't heard from her so I finally reached her when a front desk person put me through - she was caught unawares and definitely did not like it.) I thought the doctor was just fine but due to the huge billed issue I had and then the horrible behavior of the office manager I won't be returning.

If anyone ever tells you that Dr. Thimons is the doctor to see for your eye issues, don't play…read morearound. This is by far the most caring Doctor I've ever met. My wife had starting having issues with dry eye, and eye infections. At one point she had a scratch on her eye, that again, got infected, and was not only painful, but it was interfering with her vision. The infection was not responding to normal treatment, and she is allergic to the most commonly used medication for eye infections. Our eye doctor recommended we see Dr. Thimons, who's office is on the other end of the state from us. 1. Eyes are too important to be cheap about, and 2. We are not opposed to traveling. We met Dr. Thimons and his personality was a instant match. He was able to tell us what was going on with the eye, and what he wanted to do in language we could easily understand and at no time did we ever feel he was talking down to us, nor did it even feel like he was dumbing it down. He was matter of fact, direct and had a very comforting manner about him. Things didn't go too well, and her vision was deteriating, and even though we were all but panicking, Dr. Thimons remained calm, and mentioned options to us, and consulted with another doctor, Dr. Stein, and came up with a potential solution. At one point, Dr. Stein stitched a membrain into my wife's eyeball, and sealed her eyelid, as the eye movement, even with a patch was irritating the scratch, preventing it from healing. During the treatments, the doctors had been mentioning her cataracts, but predicted 5 years or so before they would need attention (surgery). The eye finally healed, and the infection was gone. Nothing to do now but follow-up appointments every 6 months with Dr. Thimons. After 3 or 4 such appointments, my wife mentioned that she felt it was getting more difficult seeing, and it was like looking through sheer curtains. Dr. Thimons showed me what it was that was goihttp://www.williamhung.netng on, and her cornea was pretty much gray. The eye that had the ulcer, scratch and infection now had scar tissue right in her field of vision. It was decided that she needed to have the cataract surgery sooner, rather then later. At this point, her left eyes vision was so bad that she could not make out the large E on the vision chart, basically 20/250, or blind. Dr. Stein did the surgeries, 2 weeks between each eye. After the second surgery, her right eye is at 20/20 with no glasses or contacts, and her left is 20/25, again, no glasses or contacts. Basically, Drs Thimons and Stein saved my wife's eye, and totally restored her vision. She has been wearing glasses or contacts since I met her in 1977. Today, she wears neither, and she is so excited at how well she can see, she gets giddy. The only issue now is, her remembering she doesn't need to put on her glasses when she gets up every morning.

I, apparently like others, also wish I had read the reviews before I came here. Same story as…read moreapparently many others- even though my insurance covers eye exams and lenses/contacts, this office proceeded to find random other charges to add that were unnecessary. For instance, although I've worn contacts since 6th grade, I was told that to get my (insurance covered) contacts that I would have to pay $120 for a "fitting". When I asked why I needed a fitting, they couldn't answer and just said "this is what we charge." Most definitely wont be returning.

I will NEVER visit this place again! My insurance pays for annual eye exam, which I scheduled. After getting there, I was informed that, IF the doctor gave a referral or wrote a prescription, that I would be charged a co-pay of at least $68.00 based on my insurance. My eyes are fine, I use eye drops for random dryness and redness but fine. At the end of my exam, the admin team informed me that I owed $68.00... For WHAT? The admin stated because the doctor recommended that I use a different, OVER-THE-COUNTER Eye Drop, INSTEAD OF THE ONE I CURRENTLY, THAT WORKS FINE! I did not need a different eye drop solution, nor did I request one, nor is it a prescription medication. Why do I owe $68.00? The admin stated, that is the policy and there is nothing that can be done. SCAM, SCAM, SCAMMMMMMM! The doctor can suggest anything and charge you additional costs. SCAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM! Horrible! How are they still in business after reading all the other reviews and SCAM complaints?

HOW TO LOSE A HIGH KPI CUSTOMER IN 5 SECONDS: Hostile staff and dismissive management…read more Because this location is right by my apartment I walked in fully prepared to purchase a pair of glasses out-of-pocket. I wasn't even in the store for five seconds before realizing how unprofessional the staff is. Upon arrival, the front desk associate was busy working with her back turned. Before she even had the chance to turn around and greet me a woman in a white medical coat made a visibly irritated face at me for simply standing there. She then barked "Can I help you?" with an unprovoked/hostile tone. Refusing to waste my time or give my money to people who treat potential clients like a nuisance I turned right around and left. Hoping to address the behavior, I called to speak with the practice manager-who turned out to be the same associate who was working at the front desk. Instead of addressing her colleague's blatantly bad attitude her excuse was that she "didn't see much" as her back was turned followed by a patronizing "I'm so sorry you feel that way." Free advice for the practice manager: Telling a customer "sorry you feel that way" isn't de-escalation; it's a lazy brush off and a refusal to take responsibility for how customers are treated. You lost an easy sale today and I'll be taking my business to a practice that actually understands basic customer service. Save yourself the frustration and go literally anywhere else
