Yrcania is genuinely phenomenal. She made everything feel natural, each conversation was focused on what would represent my mom the best. She never pushed me to do or buy anything, she was responsive to all my needs and communicated everything. I appreciated that they only hold one wake at a time so you feel like the space is really yours. One thing that really stood out to me is that my parents are from 2 different faiths and she ensured that both were represented at the wake. I didn't even consider it and appreciate that she would do that. On the day of the funeral, she ensured everything went smoothly and guided us through each part of the morning. When you lose a loved one, you hope to be treated with kindness and compassion. While I can understand that everyone may not have the capacity to do so, given the line of business this is truly unacceptable. Horrific experience…read more I accompanied a friend to pick up the remains of their spouse today and it was one of the worst encounters in recent memory. We walked in and were greeted by a man (without a mask) with a, "Hey, what's up, guys?". The casual and insensitive tone was a bit jarring but not a big deal. But the transactional nature of the process was. We were treated as if someone had accidentally dropped a delivery at the wrong address and we were mildly inconveniencing him by picking it up. When another friend asked the man to kindly put on a mask, he was told (not once but twice) that he was welcomed to wait outside. Due to great restraint, nothing else was said but my widower fried was clearly confused and distressed. Very quickly, another gentleman stepped in to finish the "transaction", which tells me this was not the first time this level of disrespect had happened. The whole wretched experience of picking up the remains of a loved one was made surreal by an insensitive and uncaring man who has clearly been doing this too long. I highly recommend trusting your loved ones and their families anywhere else.

It was as easy and as stress-free as it could be under the circumstances. We worked with Laura, our funeral director, who was extremely accommodating and helpful. Our requests were simple and nothing was pushed on us which we really appreciated. This was our second experience with ROH, having had our mom's funeral there, which was equally positive. Because of our streamlined requests for cremation without any extra trappings the cost to us was very reasonable. We had a beautiful video which was part of the service and a large room to welcome the visitors. The memorial service was lovely. Laura did a fantastic job leading the ceremony and invited others to share their stories and memories. I can't say enough. ROH is a real gem in the Riverdale community.

I am totally shocked by the behavior of the Under Taker Michael Lanza who takes pride in his website to tell others how sympathetic he is to grieving families and just shook me off by telling me to order on line. In a time of mourning and grief I would have hoped for him to be more helpful and understanding. People that are in mourning don't deserve to be treated like that. For this one reason I do not recommend this place. I was not trying to go behind anybody's back. I was friends with my ex-husband for over 40 years and I held his hand till he took his last breath so you know nothing about me. How dare you say that about me, you need to respect your elders because one day you're going to be there too. I'm glad to hear that there's no friction in your family.
