This was our first time visiting Cactus Jacks. It's a bit pricey, but very good. I love the…read moreatmosphere... it's rustic but cozy. They do have live bands so it may get loud, if that's not your thing. Now for the food... there was so much we wanted to try like the fried trio (zucchini, mushrooms, and pickles), but we chose the bacon deviled eggs and they did not disappoint! The bacon was candied and oh so good. They have a really good salad bar, and the waitress charged us for the kids portion since we were all getting meals that didn't come with a trip. Lots of good toppings to choose from. They have yummy rolls with honey cinnamon butter. My only complaint was the ranch and blue cheese was a bit too runny, and the blue cheese lacked flavor. My bonus daughter and I split the wings and the seafood platter. The wings are really good, we got hot and cherry jalapeño barbecue. The seafood platter was very good, huge portion, 6 shrimp and 2 large pieces of catfish, and the french fries were awesome. I just wish the tartar sauce tasted a little bit better. I couldn't put my finger on it, but it wasn't my favorite. My husband had the signature sirloin topped with a seafood sauce. It was really good and cooked perfectly. He got the loaded mashed potatoes, but they were very dry, they needed some cream or some butter or both. I also got a side of fried okra, I didn't care for it, not very flavorful and not crispy. My daughter got the kids cheese enchilada dinner, she didn't care for it, she said it was mostly cheese and no tortilla. The dessert menu is extensive, and it was hard to make a choice. I wanted to try the brownie bottom cheesecake, the Keylime pie cheesecake, the bourbon, pecan cheesecake, and the Texas velvet chocolate cake. My daughter and I both went for the Texas velvet chocolate cake. The waitress failed to tell me that the portion size is HUGE. Wish I'd have taken a pic! It's two huge slices of chocolate cake on top of each other. Let me tell you, though, this is one of the best chocolate cakes I've ever had. The cake part was moist, I hate that word, but I can't think of another word that describes it. Very flavorful and chocolatey. The icing was one of the best I've ever had, it's a chocolate buttercream and so good. We've eaten on this cake for a few days and it is not going to waste, that's for sure. I think the cake was the best part of the meal. Soooo good. My husband got the salted caramel pecan pie, it was very good. He's not a crust person, but he actually ate all the crust, it was so good. Overall, I really like cactus jacks and I would come back. The waitress was mediocre, for example, she told me they didn't have blue cheese, but they obviously did. She wasn't very attentive at the table, took awhile to get refills and we weren't able to get her to get us some butter for the mashed potatoes because she was rarely there, just a bunch of little things... She was very sweet though . The only reason why they got five stars was the chocolate cake, I think they really deserve four stars because their sides and condiments need some work. But, we will give it another try for sure.

The margarita was strong. The bartender was nice. Yesterday I stopped by for lunch. Service was good. However, I was disappointed in the food. I had the lunch fajitas, I'm not a fan of Spanish rice or refried beans. The rice was plain not seasoned. I had the cookie skillet for dessert. Ice Cream was salad as a rock. It even took forever for to melt from the heat of the cookie. Two gentlemen were sitting next to me at the bar. We was noticing how they had a few birthday celebrations that were taking place. Come to find out we both are Aries. Our birthdays are April. So one was nice of enough to pick up my tab.

Good authentic Mexican food. Tortillas homemade flour and corn. Best breakfast in town!!!!read more

tried this place out this morning for breakfast…read more this place is suppose to be authentic. very very slow service, compared to other authentic mexican restaurants. other places are so fast, soon as you order, within minutes the food comes out hot, hot, hot. this place, after ordering, took nearly 15-20mins for the chili-con-queso to come out, and once it was served, it was basically hot water with barely any cheese in it (photo). the chips were a bit hard, not like the thin authentic chips i get at other places. i ordered the barbacoa plate (photo). and when that was finally served over 30 mins later, the rice was cold, and the barbacoa wasnt as tender as i get at other places, a bit bland too, so i tried to add flavor to it, by adding salt and pepper, and salsa hot sauce. the only thing great was the company i was with, and the jamaca drink i ordered and the flour tortillas. my friend as them to bring more chips, and some better queso. by they time they finally got that out we were ready to go, and the food had upset my stomach, so i REALLY had to go if you know what i mean. so we asked if they could pack the queso and chips to go, and that took another 15 minutes or so, then we finally got out check. note that we dined in, and as we sat we noticed all the people walking in and making orders to go, got their food quicker than we got ours, within minutes to go customers, made their order, paid and were out. i dont know how this place survives as bad as their dine in service is.

Homemade old school mom style Mexican cooking! The breakfast are awesome. I've had the pozole which I liked. Migas ala mexicana was a good choice. They came with beans and papas. The salsas could be a little more spicy but they were very good. If your ever in these parts be sure to stop! Service is good, it's a mom and her kids most of the time. The space is large yet homey and comfortable. It's not one of those large colorful Tex mex places but the food doesn't disappoint!

She offered me her business card. She says they make everything fresh and lunch starts at 11 am. The service I got from everyone was spectacular. Food/Drinks 5/5: There's a wide selection of drink options available in the cooler along the back wall. The food is already prepared with the exception of a few items that can't be found on the line. I ordered fajita tacos with cheese, bean,s and pico. It was #winning !! I got my home girl some chorizo breakfast tacos and now she's upset about not coming a lot sooner. Price 5/5: The price isn't bad at all. For 5 breakfast tacos with all the extra beans and stuff + 2 drinks, we paid 17 dollars Vibe 5/5: It'll feel like home. Overall 25/25: I definitely plan to come back for lunch. She said she was cooking some chicken mole! Yum!
