Went to celebrate my mom's birthday! this is one of my parents favorite spots! Huge restaurant, large variety of food options and lots of seating. Our waiter was new so she struggled a bit but overall it was a good experience!

I can't find the name of these but it was chicken enchiladas with a green sauce. It was very yummy

The food was beautifully plated. Service was amazing. The whole place was just beautiful. Im actually debating on going over there again right now.

Let's start with a "if you grew up in Baytown/Highlands there is no substitute for El Toro". Full stop. It is very Tex-mex with flavors that have not wavered much over the years. I make it a point to go every time I come back home. The chips are fresh and crispy, the creamy green sauce is over the top and the red sauce has. Nice subtle kick. The queso is just what you want when you just want, an old menu described it as "a fine blend of Kraft cheese" and they are right. :) The dinners are filling, the beans are good and we had plenty of leftovers which reheat great. The service today was lacking slightly, and not from it being bad, just slightly awkward (took about 5 trips to get all the pieces needed to box up our meal). Drinks were refilled, service was pleasant and food came out fast. Did I mention free ice cream? Sometimes vanilla, sometimes chocolate, always a nice treat. The bay way location is a little generic in the looks department, especially if you remember the murals from years and years ago (and I do mean years). That being said the lighting is warm, it's pretty clean and the seating is not cramped. Do yourself a favor, have some El Toro. You will be happy you did.

popular staple mexican restaurant in the bay town area. the steak fajitas came with sizzling fajitas, rice and beans, guac and pico, and three tortillas. the steak juicy but some pieces were a bit tough. the table came with chips with salsa and green sauce, i personally loved the green sauce over the salsa. the service was really friendly and the ambiance is a typical mexican restaurant. they offer free ice cream cones!

Don't be fooled this is actually a salad identifying as a Taco!

Today, my bestie,Ernesto Rodriguez and I finally settled on El Toro for lunch after the classic "Where do you want to eat?" battle. Feeling responsible, I ordered a taco salad, you know, in a bowl because salad equals bowl, right? WRONG. In comes my taco salad, which apparently identifies as...a taco. Yep, you read that right--a taco salad that woke up today and decided it's living life as a taco. I guess even lunch is free to identify as whatever the hell it wants now! I stared at it for a good minute, completely baffled, when our server, Valerie (10/10 by the way, best server ever), asked if everything was okay. "This is a taco. Where's my salad?" I said. She, completely unfazed, tells me, "No, no, it's a taco salad--you just don't see the vision." Excuse me, what?! I broke it in half like I was opening a portal to another dimension, and right before my eyes--like some kind of Disney magic--it TRANSFORMED into a tostada! My taco salad was transitioning right there at the table. In the end, I was just like, "You know what? Fine." And guess what? It was absolutely delicious--identity crisis and all. So if you're down for a meal that pulls a Cinderella right in front of you, El Toro is your place!

Got the taco salad. It was basically all shredded lettuce. Barely any meat or sour cream. Chips and queso are super good tho!

We waited in the outdoor patio area where there was plenty of seating and room for many to talk and wait comfortably. In spite of that, our wait time wasn't long. The beautiful decor and lay out allowed for spacious seating and allowed for conversation in spite of the large number of people. The service was friendly, timely, and consistent. The food was correct, warm, beautifully displayed, and delicious. Any additional requirements were brought in a timely and congenial manner. We were treated as if we were the only ones there even though the restaurant was full and busy. We were not rushed either. This was my first time there under the new name and menu, but my friends go there often. It's their new favorite place. My son and I agreed that we would visit often, too.

My very picky husband ordered his usual at any Mexican restaurant, a Chimichanga and he really enjoyed it. I went with the Julia special which was tasty, however, upon inspecting my shrimp one was not cleaned thoroughly which kind of grossed me out and reminded me why I don't often order shrimp at restaurants. Our waitress was very sweet and the music was great so overall it was a good vibe. I'm sure we will be back, but next time no shrimp for me.

Located right in the middle of a neighborhood in a very small strip center. Parking is scarce. You walk in get in line and place your order for the barbacoa. They give you a number and they are pretty quick to get it. I really didn't know how things flowed here so I took my time and got some pan dulce which you are able to pick out yourself and put it on a pan with tongs. There are a ton of selections which included Conchas, pineapple upside cake, and cream cheese strawberry filled pastries. I asked about what came with the barbacoa and was surprised that only a half container of red salsa comes with it. Corn tortillas and cilantro/onion were extra?? Oh well lol. I didn't get a chance to glance the menu but did see beef tongue (lengua) and tripas were visibly being packed for others. Said and done paid $14.99 a pound for barbacoa and $36 for 3 bag fulls of pan dulce and extra hot green salsa and cilantro/onion. My only gripes were that the barbacoa was a bit greasy and the typical included things like tortillas and onion/cilantro were not included in the price. Overall one of the better places in town to get some fresh barbacoa and Mexican pastries! Definitely will be back!

I Ordered the barbacoa taco and it was delicious. Not fatty or greasy at all. The hot salsa was delicious. I also had the chicharrón and egg taco but I didn't care for it. They have a great variety of items to choose from as well as baked Mexican sweet breads and a meat market all in one establishment. I would come here again. They only have about 3-4 tables where you can dine. You order at the counter and they bring your food out. They have cold drinks and hot coffee. If you're in a hurry and want something quick, this is the place.
