Wow, Dr. Fazio is hands down an amazing holistic dentist! Recommended by a very close friend of mine, we drove quite the distance from NYC all the way to deep Long Island. Why you might ask? It has to do with the mercury poisoning odyssey that I've been on since 2001. To make a long story short, I was diagnosed with mercury poisoning, and one of the steps to a full detox is to remove those pesky amalgam fillings in my mouth. If a dentist tells you that those silver fillings contain NO mercury, you're being LIED to, yes it's a lie. Removing the amalgam fillings is a very sensitive, specialized procedure, like an operation. A regular dentist CANNOT do it. You need to go to holistic dentist specialized in amalgam filling removals. And the office, equipment etc. has to be state of the art so you don't get re-poisoned in the process. Dr. Fazio's office is impressive. Start of the art air-filtration, suction, high-tech equipment. The procedure is very safe! You are given activated charcoal, a dam for the throat to prevent mercury from getting into your stomach and of course oxygen... I had my left side removed and replaced with resin! Scary, who doesn't like drilling. But I did it without any anesthetic, go figure. A little topical was applied, but no needles, nada! Be brave. Dr. Fazio's manner is professional and warm. I felt very comfortable and at ease before, during and after the procedure. He answers your questions and provides advice on what supplements to take prior and afterwards. I have wanted to remove my MERCURY FILLED amalgams for a long time now. I've known the risks of them for a long time as well but just was not able to invest the money in it before. So I started searching and came upon Dr. Fazio, 2 hours away from Brooklyn where I live but I was intrigued by his credentials so I booked a consultation. Let me tell you!!! The man is as human as you can get. I am a skeptic when it comes to doctors as it is and despise dry personalities and judgy doctors who aren't open to discussing alternatives. Well, Dr. Fazio isn't one of those! He is personable, no nonsense type of guy. He breaks down the process for you, answers ALL questions, isn't condescending (like some doctors/dentist aka know-it-alls) and makes you feel comfortable. I can say we "clicked" because I was also an informed patient; he seemed to appreciate it unlike some others I have dealt with who like stupid patients. His assistant Ashley is also extremely nice and everyone in the office seems pleasant. It was a good experience overall and I highly recommend him. As for the process - after the initial consult and exam, I got my proposed Plan of Action. I wasn't pressured into it at all and he left it up to me to decide when we start. So about two weeks later I scheduled my first appointment and after the second we were done. I had 11 fillings total replaced; 7 in the first appt and 4 in the second. Smooth process at the office, now I am detoxing and feeling better. It helps to know that those things are out and won't be harming me anymore. I would highly recommend Dr. Fazio for any dental work you are considering, but especially if you would like to remove your amalgam (mercury!) fillings. I had my amalgam fillings for 25+ years and had always been told by dentists that it was more dangerous to remove them (because of the exposure to mercury dust) than to simply let them be. Well, after many mercury-poisioning symptoms (insomnia, thyroid issues, kidney stones, hair loss, brain fog, lack of emotion), I finally realized that I needed to get them removed to live a full and vibrant life again. I researched the best way to remove amalgam filings and found Dr. Fazio, who was trained in traditional dentistry at NYU and then later at Dr. Hal Huggins (a legend in holistic dentistry, based in Colorado) in mercury amalgam removal protocol, which is, I believe, the best way to ensure you don't get further poisoned by mercury. Check out Dr. Fazio's website, have a consultation (he spent over an hour with me, patiently answering all of my questions). After that, you will not want your conventional dentist to simply drill them out and replace them! This is your overall health, not just a tooth or two (or in my case, nine!)! Dr. Fazio will provide an oxygen mask for your nose and will have multiple air suction devices going at once. He also knows the precise way to "cut" them out to minimize mercury dust. I travel more than 2 hours from CT to see him -- absolutely worth it! Since my amalgams were removed, I have no longer had hair loss (I have for years had to empty the tub drain hair catcher mid-way through a shower and now only a few hairs are there at the end of a shower), I no longer have brain fog (I was stunned to suddenly able to speak French more fluently again, which I had learned as a child), and I am sleeping through the night consistently! I have followed the natural chelation protocol (heavy metal detox) by adding lots of greens (green drinks and salads), eating sulfurous veggies (onion, garlic, broccoli), drinking water with activated charcoal, taking garlic capsules and probiotics, and trying to sweat heavily in intense workouts (but saunas apparently work well too).
