I purchased a 10 lbs brisket for the Fourth of July.when I went to prepare the brisket for cooking I noticed a lot of fat. I trimmed what I could as usual and seasoned the meat. I Cooked it on the smoker the next day. When I started slicing it with the electric knife I noticed that the whole brisket was fatty. I tried to make the best of the situation to serve what I could. Needless to say it was the worst brisket I've ever cooked because of all of the fat in the meat. I took pictures and a video thinking that Leonard's would make it right. When I went back to Leonard's to tell them about it and show him the video he refused to even look at it and refused making it right in any way. I will never purchase another cut of meat or anything from this establishment again and advise everyone to stay away from this place. He was rude and acted like it was my fault read more

A very unique market in Cumming, GA. A lot of specialty items. I found the help to be accommodating with the exception of taking care of customers in the area of making a bad situation right. I bought an item and once I got it home and was going to use it found out it was outdated by 3+ years, had to drive back to the store, to get a replacement product that was different than what I was looking for because all remaining item were outdated as well. The new, different replacement was $1.50 more and the store charged me the difference. If I owned that store I would have given it to the customer on an even exchange, I'll never go back and have told many friends and associates about my disappointment with this account read more

Wow - what a jerk! As a longtime customer I was calling about spoiled dead meat that I had purchased and the owner answered the phone. He could not have been a bigger jerk, a complete disappointment, and over-the-top arrogant - so bad I wish it was recorded. Sad to experience but I am glad I know who is profiting from the business. I'm not at all surprised to see the other negative reviews regarding poor service. I was in just today and was spoken to very rudely about a simple question that I politely asked. I needed to replace a seal on a Big Green Egg that I purchased here previously. I spent over $1,000 on my Egg and accessories from this place, but even so, nobody should be spoken to like I was spoken to. I simply asked how long I needed to wait before I could use my cooker after replacing the seal. Leonard, the owner, looked at me like I was an idiot, scoffed and said, "you can use it immediately." I told him that I thought the reason it needed to be replaced in the first place was because I used it too soon after adhering it. He looked at me like I was even stupider, scoffed again and said, "then don't do it. Or read the instructions." I looked the box over very well and there are no instructions. I wish I had just told him to keep them and gone elsewhere. I was so caught off guard I didn't think to do that though. I would think the owner of a location that sells something like the Big Green Egg would have a clue about the product he carries. But even more so, I would think the owner of any business would treat his customers as if they are not a nuisance. I have also purchased a lot of meat here over the years, but I won't be spending another dollar there. This guy gives small, local business a bad name. So disappointed in my experience with Leonard's today. We always go there for our special occasions to buy nice Ribeyes, Filets and NYS. Yesterday we purchased 5 rib-eyes for about $150. They lacked flavor, marbling and had lots of tough tendons to cut through. I called, thinking they would want to know about my experience as a valued customer, but apparently, I'm not even worth 10% off my next purchase there. With a "Yeah, we don't care" attitude from the lady that answered the phone. So sad to be treated that way. read more

I got really excited about finally going to Leonard's. My family occasionally stops in to pick up the special occasion steaks and we have always gotten great cuts! The prices on meat & produce aren't always competitive with the chain supermarkets, but I do know that I will always be able to get some of the freshest stuff. Terrible customer service. Very difficult to resolve issues. I spent 100 dollars on filet for Christmas dinner. Opened meat the next day after purchase and it smelled AWFUL. One of the steaks was slimy and the entire package reeked. I grilled them anyway hoping to salvage the situation and thought maybe it was just the paper that smelled bad. After cooking, it all still reeked like straight up feces. It took a week and several phone calls to be told that they sold "hundreds" that week and no one else had a problem. And they refused to refund the purchase even after I sent photos of the entire dinner in the trash. It was horrifically embarrassing with company for Christmas. NO one wanted to eat that. Publix would have been half the cost and 100% refunded the product. I will never shop here again. Terrible experience. read more

Folks who rely on Yelp! I will never recommend this place for anyone buying any crawfish nor any seafood from this place. My husband bought 2 sacks of crawfish for $355.00 and most of the crawfish were dead (at least 60% were dead). The crawfish had a foul odor from the start. I told my husband..."is it supposed to smell like that." I'd never smelled that ever before being a native to Louisiana and always doing crawfish boils. This was absolutely ridiculous!!! Please stay far away from this place. My husband took a video and photo of all the dead crawfish. They only reimbursed him for 1 sack but they should have given all his money back. I will post the video as soon as he sends it to me, but, this this place could have put peoples lives in danger with all the dead crawfish. What in the hell were they thinking? I am going to report them to the Food and Drug Administration. To sell someone dead seafood. Seriously!!!!!!! To Leonard's. You should have reimbursed my husband all of his money. We had so many of our family and friends over and for the crawfish to smell this bad and most could not be eaten is shameful. Shame on you all to sell us this and only reimburse us for one sack. You all owe him for the 2nd sack. This is as of May 7, 2022. You know who we are as we called you in the 7th to let you know. You offered for us to come get another sack, but who would've done that when someone is hosting a boil. We will never buy anything from you all again. Don't be surprised that you are not on WBRZ for this since we have the videos and pictures. If I could put the smell in a bag to send to you...you all would vomit. This place is a paradox. Something good thats bad. Its an everything wannabe store. Barely a full service butcher or vegetable stand. Hardly a friendly place, get this feeling the customer is a disruption in their day. Some interesting items on the shelf as well as a decent supply of Big Green Eggs, which is another step toward a different wannabe. The butcher is hardly accommodating . I wanted to have a flank steak pounded for tenderizing to make brasciole. "We don't have a hammer" , then I wanted chicken chop meat "we don't do that" , then I asked for fresh italian sausage "we have frozen not made here". The vegetable stand was sparse and looked sad. This is our "go to" place for meats (especially steaks) and all things Big Green Egg. They are one of few places in our area where you can buy prime graded beef. We love the huge selection of accessories and rubs. The workers are friendly and have even given us samples of rubs to try. Recently, we tried grilled steaks from the local grocery store because Leonard's was closed. Big mistake as they weren't nearly as good. read more

We used to shop here for meats about twice a month but then several months ago, the quality went way down hill. One day I walked in to purchase some steaks with my husband and ALL of the meat under the counter was way off color (. The guy behind the counter was rude and acted like he did not care whether we gave him our business, so we left and went to a different market. Also, our daughter went there to purchase some chicken breasts and noticed a bad smell when she opened the cooler. She didn't think much about it until she took the meat out of our refrigerator to take it home. The meat smelled rancid and we threw it away. We won't go back there. There are 2 great markets north of here that have good quality food and great customer service. It is little bit farther to drive, but we are fine with it. read more

Excellent place for steaks and super fresh vegetables. I have been shopping here since his Mom and Dad ran a grocery store in the same building. Very much the same layout with the difference being they specialize in that they are a huge produce supplier for a lot of local restaurants and schools. So disappointed in their quality lately. The last two times I have gone I have seen a decline in service (no one available to help at the meat counter), and horrible quality. I bought a beef roast to make shredded beef, and after cooking on low for 8 hours, I go to shred it and find that over half of it is fat. And not marbled fat, but big, inedible chunks of fat. I had to throw most of it away. I am furious that I spent $18 on a roast and then didn't even get enough edible meat from it to feed my family. I have also noticed expired groceries on their store shelves. Time to find a new meat market... read more

I'm from Louisiana and it's hard to come by authentic smoked and green onion sausage in our area. I loved that Leonards carries Savoie's & Poche's sausage. But I've gone in more times than none and found the product anywhere up to an entire year after the expiration date. I've brought this to the owner's attention before and he told me "It's frozen when he gets it and it immediately goes into the freezer and it's good for up to a year later." I tested this theory one time and bought (2) packages that were approx 5 months after the expiration. I thawed 1 of them out and I realized it was bad. I took both packages back for a refund and explained to the female employee that the one I opened smelled bad but I hadn't opened the other. She told the owner and he instructed her to put the unopened package back in the freezer for purchase. I would expect more from a "small town" business in Cumming. read more

This place lacks some serious basic customer service skills, felt like we were more of a burden than paying customers. The selection it self isn't even impressive, a little over priced if ask me but that's expected in local small business I guess only point of interest was this supposed famous Hoop Cheese. When we got to the register and I tried to be friendly and make conversation about what Hoop Cheese is another customer was friendlier and more knowledgeable than the cashier working! I go here quite often, and usually don't have any issues and there's a lot of friendly people. I just went and had the worst service ever by whom I'm assuming is the owner. I work for Subway and every now and then we run out of tomatoes and I go here to get some, every time it's $18. My last trip it was $20, no big deal, but I made the mistake of asking "oh I thought it was 18". He gets very defensive and rude and looks at me like I'm an idiot saying "no it's 20." I didn't care too much but I did respond with "every time I'm here it's been $18", I was not arguing I was simply stating a fact because I wanted to ask about the price change. Then he gets really rude and states "you must not have been here for a while because it hasn't been 18 for a very long time". I went about a month ago and it was 18. He also says "I should know I'm the one that makes the prices." I will now be over ordering my tomatoes every week just to make sure I never have to go back to this place again. Are used to recommend it to my customers when they would comment on our pretty tomatoes, but now I'll make sure to warn the people that the customer service is lousy read more

I've been to Leonards Market a few times and still trying to feel out the quality of this business. I have mixed feelings every time I shop there. I almost want to say that it feels like I'm bothering them by being in there. It's like I'm walking on egg shells. I bought some sliced deli turkey meat from them last week and I asked for the meat to be shaved. The young girl working there (I'm assuming could be related to the owner), I felt like she may have been mocking me for asking for shaved deli meat(I could be wrong though). There was and older man also behind the deli counter who appeared to be horrified for me asking for shaved deli meat(again,could have been just me). I actually felt bad for asking for shaved meat at this point and spoke up from behind the counter saying "well you don't have to shave it to where it's falling apart (the way I like it), but if you could just make it thin that will be fine sir". I've felt bad vibes from places before by observing the atmosphere and people; sometimes I'm right and other times it's a miss. Hopefully it was just me being paranoid because I hate to pass judgement on people and be wrong. If it is really true what the other reviewers said about how the owner treated them, hopefully he was just having a bad day and it's not an everyday thing. I'm trying to be fair and open minded. I called Leonards Farmers Market to get a price on a big green egg. I got to speak to Leonard himself, the owner. I asked for a price and he said "no, I will not give a price over the phone" I was a little surprised and asked why? He said it was his business and he would do exactly as he pleases and if I wanted a price I would drive down and see for myself and he hung the phone up on me. Since it was one of the first nice weekends of this Spring I decided it was a grilling steaks weekend. I didn't want a supermarket steak and found Leonard's online. I was a little worried when I saw the outside (it's in an older building in downtown Cumming). When I went it the environment was nice. Just a small store but they have produce, spices and of course steaks. They also had pork and even lamb chops. I got 3 ribeyes for about $25...but before you say that is crazy they were HUGE! They were the best steaks we've ever had and we each actually split the steaks into two meals. So it was more like 6 steaks. It's also worth mentioning that their veggies were a great price and much better quality than the store. I bought some squash at $.99 lb. The guys inside were nice...kind of like you'd think of an old time barber shop. They were just hanging out and talking. If you need some protein for grilling I'd definitely check it out. read more
