Dr. Leone is one of the least professional people I've ever encountered. Upon first meeting her she asked me "were you in a car accident when you were a kid?" I wasn't and was thrown off by this question. She then stated "oh, well your face is very asymmetrical." It's not. Her own insecurities clearly seep into her work and patient interactions. Please go elsewhere, and especially take your children elsewhere. No one should be made to feel less than because an old lady with no upper lip tries to project her own poor body image onto others. read more

Leone & Vaughn (L&V) is a top-tier provider for orthodontic treatment in the Seattle area. I was wary at the thought of getting braces, but after my original consultation in March of 2016 with Dr. Leone, I immediately felt excited at the prospect of fixing my bite/teeth with the Invisalign treatment. I have only been to the Interbay/Elliott area office, but it was definitely a beautiful and well set up space. Everything is sleek, suave, and modern. At every step of the way, L&V was efficient, friendly, and accurate. Checking in at every appointment was a breeze, and I was always seen on time (that's a huge pet peeve of mine: when doctor's offices always see you much later than your appointment time). During my appointments, the orthodontic assistants were well-trained and accurate in describing certain procedures being performed on my teeth at the time of the appointment. While I was never seen by Dr. Vaughn, I can say that Dr. Leone and Dr. Davis were excellent. I never felt nervous or worried about what they were going to do my teeth when it came to adjusting brackets or making cuts between my teeth to allow them to compact more. After each appointment, I met with a receptionist to confirm my next appointment. One little thing I really appreciated about this was the slip they printed for me that detailed my next appointment, including about how long the appointment would last. I cannot thank Leone & Vaughn, Dr. Davis, and all of their orthodontic assistants enough for improving the longevity of my teeth. If you need braces or just want to get a consultation, check L&V out. Extremely disappointed with the service overall. Only two months after finishing my invisalign treatment I had a friend recommend I get invisalign (like I hadn't just had it done!). I had just spent two years and over $8k on invisalign treatment with Leone and Vaughn. I also got instructions to use my retainers for only 6 months, I wore them for a year just to be safe. I only just stopped wearing them, and my teeth have started to move back. I never received instructions to wear the retainers forever! I just had a follow up consult with Leone and Vaughn and they want another $1.5k to retreat with invisalign. Was the $8k I paid not enough to cover a minor retreat? read more

I have been struggling awhile with whether or not to write about my experience as a patient here. I hate to give a less-than-stellar review to a local business, but I also want to share my experience with other potential patients - especially since orthodontics is such a big investment. It's also something that I think about daily when brushing/flossing/eating, so I decided to write my honest review. I went to Leone and Vaughn based on all the reviews and accolades of the providers, but I have not had the experience I had hoped for. I had Invisalign as an adult (in my 30's) and was open to regular braces if that would be a better option for my situation. I had a minor correction and was told that Invisalign would work for me. Unfortunately, I've been very disappointed with the results. My teeth look straight from the front, but from the side (profile) the upper teeth have just been pushed/tilted backwards. There are spaces between my teeth and the gums all along my front teeth which weren't there before I had treatment. Every time I eat, food gets stuck between several of my front teeth in places that are visible, which is frequently embarrassing. When I'm not eating, I can see black spaces where there weren't any before. I brought this up to the orthodontist when we were close to the end of the treatment and was told I would have to go back to my general dentist and have bonding or veneers done to correct it. This was a huge disappointment since I'd already paid about $5,000 for the Invisalign. My bite is also not 'balanced'. I can make one side or the other touch, but both sides do not touch at the same time. They did try to grind down my natural teeth in the back to get them to touch, but they were never able to get it correct. Also, because of the change in the position of my teeth, and having them pushed back in, my lips are not supported anymore. My lips turn down at the corners instead of going straight across. At first, I could not drink out of cups without spilling because my lips did not meet properly. I have learned how to accommodate so that it doesn't happen anymore, but my lips still have the same downturned appearance in person/photos. The changes in my teeth affected my lower face, too. I have dimples and lines that I didn't have before and there is a lot more movement in my muscles. I have deep 'marionette' lines that have shown up as a result of the loss of vertical dimension in my lower face. (I had a consultation with a nurse injector to see if fillers or botox will help with these issues, and they explained why it happened in the first place.). The change in the proportions of my face is something I did not anticipate and has been something that I have to get used to now. The issues with my bite have caused TMJ problems. It's not everyday, but I'm getting headaches and muscle pain from the position of my teeth. Because my upper teeth were tipped/pushed back, my lower teeth and jaw have to also go back to fit behind the upper ones. It just feels like my jaws don't fit right anymore and there is extra tension in the muscles of my face to try to keep my lower jaw back in the new position. In addition, I found that there wasn't consistency with the care. They had 3 orthodontists and they were running several chairs at once. They would be rushing in and out of the chair and often didn't have time to spend with each patient to give individualized attention. One more thing - I've given it some time to see if any of the issues above would improve after things 'settled in'. It's been several months and I've been faithful with wearing my retainers - I wear them religiously. If anything, the jaw issues, facial esthetics, and especially the black spaces (food traps) are getting worse. Overall, I think this place is probably fine for teens or traditional braces. The orthodontists teach at UW and do tons of cases. They have a lot of experience because of the high volume of cases they see. However, if you're an adult who is more esthetically driven, looking for a place that will take into account your facial esthetics, and give more personalized attention to your treatment, you may want to do more research on finding another provider that will suit your needs. They give off a very money-grabbing impression, and feels like they're trying to take advantage of folks that don't know their condition very well. I'm here once while I was shopping for an orthodontist for Invisalign options. I know what my problem is. They took some imaging, had the doctor come in poke around for 5 minutes, telling me that they're not sure if it'll be affective, BUT I should start with them anyway and gave my a financial contract to sign right there? This is how it went with the orthodontist that I'm actually working with: first visit, they bothered to ask for my past history, and opted to get images from my last orthodontist instead of taking new ones. After some assessment the doctor listed out a few treatment options, and explained to me the rough expected results for each. He then asked if he could present my case to a study group to see if others have more thoughts about it. Second appointment, I was given written details of the comments from the study group, and more in depth elaboration on the treatment plans that were discussed before. I agreed to start treatment and signed with them there. Bottom line is if your case need any kind of actual attention, this is not a good place. read more

I started Invisalign in October 2016, completed treatment in September 2017, and had my final check up this week. When I first met with Dr. Vaughn, I didn't think I was an Invisalign candidate due to my serious crowding. I'm very happy I was wrong and even more happy to have chosen such a clean, professional orthodontist. I spent many of my adult years being self conscious of my teeth, and my only regret is that I didn't make an appointment sooner. They also selling you $440 a pair of retainers (plz check online, 4 set of vivera retainers (branded by Invisalign)usually 500-600. Be very careful if invisalign is suggested for your child or teenager. Using invisalign requires an incredibly focused and motivated kid who follows instructions almost all the time and never loses anything. Each loss of insert will cost another $100. L & V need to do a better job of helping parents decide if braces might be a better option for their kid read more

A recent update. I visited this office in March, and received a treatment recommendation in email in May. The treatment plan reflects exactly what Dr. Vaughn told me in the first place, very rough and general recommendations, with minimum consideration of my preference. It was nothing like what was mentioned that they would put a lot of time and efforts in research. I am not sure how they can give the best treatment plan as possible without thoroughly examining their patients. I've decided to go with another orthodontist who did a thorough examination on me, did x-ray for free, answered all my questions in a professional way, addressed all my concerns, and gave me a treatment plan that addresses my needs and meets my preference. I am not a big fan of L & V office. I am sure there are other people who found this place wonderful. This office just doesn't work for me. read more

If you have a serious case I would be very wary of going here. After seeing others post similar reviews I feel it's about time I said something. I had my braces put on several years ago in this office, I was told during my initial consult that something looked odd about my case (just from looking at me) but they were sure my very crooked teeth could be fixed with braces only. I felt like there was very little research or thought put into my case, just get the braces on and "all will be fine." I got the braces on and around a year later I was told without warning that I would need orthognathic surgery. I was shocked, and at this point couldn't undo what had been done with the braces. My story is very lengthy, so I'm not going to air the entire story here. I just want people to know choosing this office was the worst decision of my life. Thankfully I moved to another state and had top of the line treatment. Unfortunately, my time here caused me a lot of heartache, pain, and further treatment to correct my bite. read more

My experience at Leone & Vaughn was life-changing. I am so thankful to have had the opportunity to work with them. At 24 years of age I decided to get braces - I found that I wasn't smiling in photos and I was embarrassed of my teeth. I consulted with about 3 different orthodontists in the Seattle area and decided to go with L&V - I liked how comfortable and approachable both Dr. Leone and Dr. Vaughn were, the professionalism of their office, and the wide range of services and solutions offered. They are technology early-adopters which I think makes them stand apart from older offices. I also requested treatment estimates from the other offices and L&V was in the same ballpark - given the better technology, services and customer experience, I felt it was extremely good value and service for the money. I was a patient for approximately 2 1/2 years and had significant crowding and misalignment of both my lower and upper teeth. I had to have 4 extractions plus wisdom teeth extractions at an oral surgeon to prepare my mouth for treatment. I wore braces for the entire treatment, and finished up with a final year of Invisalign (included in the total treatment cost). The before and after pictures are incredible - I have such a great smile now and am not afraid to show it off. It's made me a happier and more self-confident person and was worth every penny. You're better off going else where to do orthodontic treatment. 1. His practice is an assembly line, hardly spends a few minutes with you, most of the work is done by assistants. 2. Charges you more than other orthodontists. 3. His treatment plan is not whats best for you, but how much he can extract from you and your insurance. I had sub par work done at another orthodontist, and ended up firing that office and going to Leone Vaughn who I can highly recommend. They never rushed me or made me feel like any of my questions were stupid. I'm in my mid 40's so this was a big decision for me. I think when it comes to your teeth, it's not worth it to try and save a few bucks by going with the cheapest. L + V charged a fair price for the Seattle market. I'm 32, and had some pretty major orthodontic work accomplished by Dr's Leone & Vaughn, and the results were excellent. Throughout my two or so years of work, the technicians and front office staff were knowledgeable, hard-working and friendly. The tag team efforts of the two doctors and two offices ensured that scheduling appointments was easy to keep my orthodontic work on schedule (I had asked, if it was possible, to have all work complete before my wedding and they accomplished it with weeks to spare!). Adult Invisalign Review First time ever I'm deleting a review. What I posted really wasn't a fair assessment and I think I have to realize I'm not the average patient. I went here for Invisalign. The people and practice is really nice and the sales person was great. They had good options if you wanted to finance and they do have really good people. My biggest gripes early on were some expectation settings around the mounts on your teeth and the approach that some of the staff who do the dental work have to just doing things without explaining them. One of those is Invisalign's fault in that they show the mounts for the braces as being tiny and only on your back teeth. It's deceptive and not L&V's fault and not the sales person's fault. They could have communicated it a little better and they took the feedback. The other is that some of the staff didn't explain what they were going to do and were just going to put big white things on my front teeth. That so wasn't happening and in that case they could have explained what they were going to do. I'm not a kid, so I want to know. They took that feedback as well, so I'm guessing this wouldn't happen again. The process does require you to go back at regular intervals to get new aligners. I'm super busy and this has been frustrating. That's not their fault. It turns out that they can be flexible on that period of time, so it would have been better knowing that going in and I could have managed things better. In the end, their staff are always flexible in accommodating my crazy schedule and fit me in. It's not fair for me to not thank the people who are on my side. They do have one time of the year where the clinic shuts down for the orthos to go drink grappa and eat gelato, but everyone needs a vacation and the staff did communicate that this was going on. My ultimate advice is if you're a busy professional and are often not available, or in my case not even in Seattle, let them know and they'll work with you. They probably doubt I fit that bill since I usually show up in sweats and a t-shirt. Also, be clear on where you're willing to have mounts placed and note that they need to communicate with you. I'm happy with my experience here. I do vehemently disagree with Sebastian H's review. They were competitively priced for orthodontics and you can always shop around. Is it an assembly line? No, like any practice, most of the work is done by techs as you don't need an orthodontist to do all of the work. I get ample time with them always. Why only 3 stars then? It was a rocky start and I'll bump them up a few when I see how good my teeth look in the end. read more

If you're an adult needing orthodontic care, especially if it's needed to fix major bite issues, and needed as part of treatment with jaw surgery, Drs. Leone and Vaughn is your answer. I was referred to Leone and Vaughn after spending five years consulting with other orthodontists and dental professionals. After having my wisdom teeth out in 2003, I began to experience pain, and by seeing several medical professionals, I found out that my bite was really out of wack. I had an open bite and my teeth were not touching in the back; biting with my front teeth was not happening. As time went on, my issues with biting and chewing (and pain) continued; not to mention my teeth were getting ruined. I was told early on that in order to fix these issues and live out the rest of my live happy, healthy, and "normal," that I would need to get braces and then have lower jaw surgery. In addition, I was going to need to have four permanent teeth extracted. I was like "no way." So, after spending five years consulting with different orthodontists and other medical professionals, I decided I would consult with one more orthodontist, and make a final decision to move forward with orthodontics and surgery. I was referred to Leone and Vaughn. They took records--photos and x-rays, and said what everyone else said: braces and surgery will fix my problems. But, they said they could do it without any teeth extractions. I finally decided to go for it. This decision did not come easily or lightly. Another detail about Leone and Vaughn that attracted me to them is the fact that about half of their patients are adults, which means they are very familiar with adult issues. I got my braces (clear braces) on in November of 2008, and after four to six months, I had my first consultation with the jaw surgeon, Dr. Douglas Trimble, who works out of Overlake in Bellevue. After meeting with him, he was able to explain my situation to me in relation to the lower jaw surgery, and I was feeling even more comfortable about the process. I had my surgery in June of 2010, and during the time before that a lot of adjustments had to made to my teeth per Dr. Trimble for the surgery. Drs. Leone and Vaughn worked closely with Dr. Trimble to set my teeth up for the lower jaw surgery. I have to admit, my teeth had to look worse before they could look better. Large spaces had to made that I didn't like, but they told me that's why I keep my braces on for at least six months after surgery. And it's true. I had my braces on nine months after the surgery, and Drs. Leone and Vaughn were able to bring those spaces back and make my teeth look even better than they did before I started the process, and this was NOT something I did for cosmetic reasons. Along the way, I always had a lot questions about why this tooth was here, etc., and they were so patient in explaining why they were doing what they were doing. As adults we like know exactly what is happening, and Leone and Vaughn are very good at making you feel comfortable and knowledgeable about the situation. Now, after being complete with my orthodontic care and surgery, I am so very happy with my bite and jaw placement and teeth and smile. I can't thank the doctors enough for doing such a wonderful job. I visited this office for an Invisalign assessment and pricing. I also visited two other orthodontists in Seattle (one downtown and one near UW) for an estimate. I did not choose this office for a few reasons. First, Dr Leone actually made negative comments about the quality of my last orthodontic treatment (braces). I think this is not the way to "sell" me on your services. I'm already visiting you because I'm not happy about the results of my braces. Tell me that you are going to make my teeth a lot better, don't pick on the last guy. So that in general turned me off. I can't recall exact comments but it wasn't the usual ortho talk of your teeth don't align here and need to be more forward here. It was more like, your last ortho didn't do a good job and he clearly didn't know what he was doing. And I mention this because she had no idea about the circumstances of my previous braces (I think I demanded they come off early). Then, when I received the estimate (luckily I got 3 estimates from 3 different orthodontists around town), it was $1500 more than the orthodontist I ended up going with. It was also $1000 more than the third estimate I received. If this were braces, I'd understand but with invisalign, there is an Invisalign home office (in costa rica?) that comes up with a treatment plan and (I think) that your own orthodontist could then makes some updates based on what they think. Notice I say "could", it doesn't mean that they will and I think as a patient you have no idea if they did. Lastly, I don't know if this a positive or negative. But the office is very very nice. The decor is fantastic. But as I left, I couldn't help but think that all the nice decor was paid for by them over charging their patients compared to other orthodontists in the area. I also couldn't help but notice the line of luxury cars parked around the side...I'm assuming that is where the Orthos/staff park. read more

Leone and Vaughn are phenomenal. Before I found them, I asked my dentist for the best orthodontist's they recommended --- and they pointed me to Leone & Vaughn. I did my research before visiting and their credentials were outstanding. What stood out to me was they teach at the UW. I asked my girlfriend, a dental student at the UW, if she has had a chance to see them there and I only heard great things form her! Anyways, I got my braces on a little over a year and a half ago and had them removed a month ago. I love my results! I came into the first office visit with Dr. Vaughn and told him the 3 things I wanted fixed with my smile. At multiple points in my process I questioned them about how we were going to fix those 3 things. Every time I had questions they would always take the time needed to answer them. They seemed to know exactly what they were doing. They had a plan to get everything right --- and they did! I had an excellent experience here and will highly recommend them to any of my friends. At 38 years old (in 2004) I decided to get braces and I was referred to Leone & Vaughn Orthodontics. I was immediately impressed with the friendliness of the staff and I'd only met the receptionist, Jen. Pictures were taken of my teeth and x-rays were done. I then met with Dr. Vaughn to go over the pictures and x-rays and he told me his recommendations. My teeth looked straight to everyone else and people told me that I didn't need to go to an orthodontist, but I knew that my teeth had been shifting and I wanted to do something before it got worse. Dr. Vaughn made me feel very comfortable about being there even though to the average person I didn't need to be there. He suggested Invisalign, but I knew that if I could take off my braces, I would. I chose the traditional braces and after 11 months I was done. I was so excited that I hugged Dr. Leone! The doctors and the staff were so warm and friendly that I loved going there for my visits even though going meant that I would have sore gums for a couple of weeks again. The office is state of the art, which is a huge plus to me. There are orthodontists that are cheaper, but I've seen their results. I would only go to Leone & Vaughn. I had fantastic results and I will have perfect teeth for the rest of my life now. read more

I went in for a consultation, and they quoted me $2200 more for the same service I am now receiving from one of the top-ranked orthodontists in the state. He is located outside city limits, which may be a turnoff for some. For me, trekking a few extra miles to see him is well worth the time. I can't say much about Leone & Vaughn's service after the consultation, and I am not downplaying the reviews that others have given to this group. I just want to remind folks that when it comes to finding an orthodontist, don't be afraid to shop around. You'll find that you will be just as satisfied with the results, even if you don't shell out your entire savings to do so. read more

My journey began three years ago. That may sound long but I did not have an ordinary case, quite the opposite really. My wisdom teeth had come in fully impacted so badly my previous permanent retainer had broken off and all of my teeth shifted into a terrible cross bite. (Bottom back molars sat outside the top back molars). I began consulting with some of the highest ranked orthodontists in Seattle. The first three I met all gave me the same answer: we break your mid-palatal suture bone and expand surgically (SARPE). This suture bone (roof of mouth) fuses when you're 13, and is not usually recommended for adults. The process is long, gruesome and extremely painful. Finally, I had my consultation with Dr. Vaughn. While he admittedly told me upfront there was not an exact clear cut path, as long as I was committed, we would find a way WITHOUT surgery! Low and behold they did!!! They made me a custom appliance for expansion, used a new non surgical procedure called "propel" that worked wonders on the crossbite, we used regular braces on the bottom and finished off with a round of Invisalign. Ultimately, I now have perfect teeth without the breaking of any bones! So what others called impossible was reality at Leone Vaughn and Davis. No matter which of three doctors you are working with, they never miss a beat. The atmosphere of all three offices is great, each catering to patients of all ages. Great and friendly staff that always greet you with a warm smile. Most importantly, accommodating with scheduling. Even though we moved with 6 months left in our treatment (myself and my husband) we flew out to finish up our treatment. After all that hard work there was no way I would transfer so close to the end. My husbands case was much more simple than mine, a nice quick painless round of Invisalign did the trick. Today I got my braces removed and want to share my wonderful experience with Leone and Vaughn and their lovely staff. First of all, Leone and Vaughn are the most professional, result driven orthodontist I've ever had! I've had braces in the past but Leone and Vaughn have surpassed my expectations in service, quality and professionalism. I really mean it. They really do put patients first. For example, last Friday I thought they'd take my braces off but didn't and I have a wedding to go to next week so they squeezed me in today (day before Thanksgiving) to take it off. I was really thankful and was given chocolates, wine and a pen in a bag so I could go home and celebrate no more braces! It really surprised me! Very lovely people :-) I also love the variety of colors and flavors the let you choose. They got everything! Today my impression was Pineapple flavor :-) Everything they do is fast because they have invested in good technology too. Which is great for everyone. Regarding procedures and treatment, Leone and Vaughn's staff are very well trained and the way their business seems to run so smooth. I really like the procedure flow. Nothing is a surprise, they always tell you what they are going to do first before doing anything. When you talk with them, they will stop what they are doing and talk with you. Just little things like that can make a patient very special. There are days when it seems to be a bit rushed (orthodontists) but most of the time you'll have an assistant by your side who is always with you to take care of your needs. And only twice did I feel a bit of discomfort but it was quickly mitigated (such as rough handling). Mind you I have a small mouth. After over 25 years of crooked teeth I finally decided to invest the money and time in fixing them. They had been cutting into my mouth and tongue at a progressively worse rate over the years. Not having dental insurance in the past and with funds being tight it became something I had put off repeatedly. I was not looking forward to wearing braces. But now that I qualified for Invisalign and had insurance it was time. It has been over a year that I have been wearing Invisalign and I am very happy with the progress and outcome. Leone and Vaughn have been wonderful, very professional, friendly and helpful. A few weeks after signing my initial contract I recalled that there was a discount listed on Yelp, one of the reasons I had chosen them (for their stellar reviews, location and the discount listed), and they still honored the discount nearly a month later! It made a big difference for me financially and shows they care a lot about their clients experience. The staff is always sweet and friendly (especially Taylor, she's a doll). They explain everything throughout the process and take your personal story into account with treatment. Orthodontic treatment is a substantial investment. I scheduled consultations with several local providers before choosing Leone & Vaughn. The choice was clear- everyone in their practice demonstrated professional expertise during my initial consultation and follow-up communication with the office. The doctors are highly experienced. Plus, they offer digital impressions- a huge perk! I'm at the end of my year-long Invisalign treatment (as an adult) and have no complaints about Leone & Vaugn at all. My treatment plan has yielded the desired results over a short period of time, and the friendly professionalism of the doctors and their staff have made the experience extremely positive. I met with 'Tuesday' - the marketing and client-facing person on their team a the Elliot street office this morning for my first meeting with this team. I am thoroughly impressed with her professionalism, care and customer service from start-to-finish. This appears to be the perfect place for people like me who prefer a more professional, high-tech setting where adults feel they have the same care and treatment options as children. Their office space is the best i've seen of any orthodontist or dentist. I also met with Doctor Vaughn who is articulate, knowledgeable, friendly, respectful - everything you might expect and want from your orthodontist. this review is a long time coming. L&V Ortho is fantastic! i shopped around before getting my "adult braces" and although L&V were a tad more pricey than the others, there is simply no financial comparison to make when you consider what's a stake....i.e. the chance at having perfect (or as close to perfect as you can get) teeth, a great smile and fantastic, attentive, comfortable care from an experienced husband wife duo with professionalism and cleanliness and everything you want from folks working up in your grill. The doctors and techs here are so friendly and amazing! Very efficient workplace, and I was in and out in under an hour. They really take care of their patients. I expressed a lot of concern about braces and they found a way to make Invisalign work for me instead. read more

Dr. Leone is very personable and explains the treatment plan in a simplistic yet unoffensive manner. Dr. Leone provided a realistic treatment plan with supportive explanations. The staff at the Bellevue office have--on more than one occasion, made me feel unimportant and as though they were doing me a favor. The Madison Park office has been great to work with. As another review indicated, scheduling can be a struggle. As a frequent traveler for work, it's near impossible because the staff don't always communicate from one office to the next. I wouldn't not recommend them, but I will suggest scrutiny when working with the Bellevue location. Hope this helps... read more
