I just finished my treatment this week. And when the brace is removed the transformation was flabbergasting. I can't recommend Dr. Schruth and Rainier Valley Orthodontics enough. I started treatment as an adult with Dr. Baker. She recommended Invisalign and it was easy to get a consultation and start treatment. Towards the end of my treatment Dr. Schruth came on board and he has been fantastic. The office is an open environment which takes a bit of getting used to. But the ambience is great, especially their new office! The staff is absolutely incredible, especially Alyse, Kristi, and Martha. Everyone is so friendly, caring, and professional. They remember your name and treatment history, are totally prepared, and I have never had to wait for any appointment! At the end of my treatment, I got a little frustrated because my bottom teeth were not aligning properly. I emailed Dr. Schruth, and he was very responsive and immediately addressed my concerns. I ended up needing to get braces on my bottom teeth, but they corrected the issue, and I only needed them for a couple of months. Also, I paid the initial fee at the beginning of my treatment, and I have never had to pay any further cost over the initial 10 month Invisalign treatment plus a year and a half of retainer checks and the bottom braces! Dr. Baker and her staff are exceptional. I started my Invisalign treatment with Dr. Baker, but had to move to a different state for dental school. The office has been very good at accommodating my needs and sending me elastics. Dr. Baker is very kind and has such a warm personality. The dental assistants are also very friendly and fun. They make you feel very comfortable during your appointments. I am close to being done with my treatment, and so far my teeth looks so much better! I can now smile with confidence!!! I just finished active treatment (~2 1/2 years of Invisalign + 1/2 year of braces) and have been very happy with my time here. I was a patient when ownership changed from Dr. Baker to Dr. Schruth and the transition was very smooth. I came in very skeptical about braces/Invisalign and met with Dr. Baker to ask her a list of 29 questions about why it was being suggested that I pursue treatment and if it was medical or cosmetic. She met with me 1:1 and answered all of my questions, explained what my teeth would/would not like long term if I did/didn't pursue treatment, and I (with my parents) decided to start treatment. Invisalign was pretty easy for me, it's uncomfortable at first but I stopped noticing it after awhile (started feeling weird to not have it in). Invisalign did the vast majority of the work for my teeth but I needed braces for a final adjustment on one or two particularly stubborn teeth. Dr. Schruth and the whole team knew I wasn't fond of braces and made my time with braces very short (we even tried a mini triple bracket for just the one tooth that needed adjustment) and only did them on my top teeth when that wasn't quite enough. They communicated clearly, adapted to what I wanted/needed as treatment went on, let me make the final decisions as treatment changed, listened to what I had to say, and made visits as much a casual conversation as they were orthodontist appointments. You won't regret coming here, and getting to and from the office is easy as they've got a parking lot and there's are #7 stops right by the office going both directions. Plus, plenty of places to go in Colombia City to get a cold smoothie or cone of ice cream after the occasional uncomfortable adjustment. read more

Positive first: the office is clean, staff are friendly, and the initial quote was about $500 less than other options I looked at. The downsides: the office made an administrative mistake that cost me about $150 additional; my invisalign treatment has taken about 2 years longer than expected, and scheduling is an absolutely nightmare for a working adult. (Their hours are Mon-Thurs, about 9-4:40. And when needing to reschedule today, Nov. 16, the soonest option they could offer was Jan. 11. If you are an adult working a conventional schedule, I would highly recommend looking elsewhere.) From a treatment perspective, I'm having a hard time knowing if my ortho goals will be met; Dr. Baker seems less interested/knowledgeable in subtle adult care, with invisaling, than in conventional braces. read more
