In 2024, we were on a Six Flags kick and hit up as many on the east coast as we could. One last stop was to Great Escape, another of the parks within driving distance of the Boston area. Our trips to these parks farther away usually end up being multiple days, so on this visit we did a Sat/Sun visit during spooky season. As you drive along I-87, you spot SFGE off to the right. What greets you though isn't the best looking park in the world because you've got to see front and center, one of the ugliest Arrow coasters known to man. This thing has seen better days, the best thing this place could do is tear it down and put something in that spot that has a wow factor. Like yesterday, just do it. Our GPS took us right up to the park when it was typed in, whoops. Totally our fault, but we had to turn around in a hotel right next door to the park to actually go to the lot entrance, which is on the other side of the road (the sign isn't super big and you get no warning as to when it's coming). Parking in Lot #2 wasn't paved, so it was really difficult for our two kid stroller to navigate, I can't imagine how someone with a wheelchair gets around in there. Pave this next time, please. I continue to mention the two day stay, because one wasn't really pleasant at all while the other was a dream. And yes, when I say that I mean the size of the crowd. Too many unchaperoned teens running around on Saturday not really caring who they might run into or what they were saying around small kids. Sunday was nothing like that and most rides were a walk-on. The park itself is relatively clean, especially compared to its Six peers. It's probably that time of year, but why must you close down what amounts to big portion of the front of the park? I counted 6-7 rides closed the first day, including some kid rides that they were disappointed they wouldn't be getting on. They are trying to compete by adding the likes of Bobcat, the new and possibly the best entry from The Gravity Group. Find something with a small footprint like Bobcat to again, welcome people to the park, not one that your grandparents enjoyed in the 80's. That thing looks far from being any kind of "demon". The carry over items from when it was Storytown are a lot of fun, even if some of them look a bit dated. I'm just glad they decided to keep this decor, from the castle now flowing with rivers of blood for Halloween to the tiny storefronts all kids up to the age of 7 will enjoy. You can also see some of the items from the olden days on the train ride around the park. We got a meal deal for the day, where you can purchase a meal or snack every 90 minutes. As long as you get there early, this is super worth it. But what we didn't plan on was waiting in line 25 minutes to get dinner so this can hurt the timing of it all and you might miss out on a last snack at the end of your day. The nachos were stellar, the pizza I give a 4.2 on the Portnoy scale, and the chicken tenders were you know, tenders. It's amusement park food but at least none of it made us sick to go on rides. The next day we had a treat of fried dough which was super fresh and soft. Staff was hit or miss, 90% of them like most places, were helpful and nice...even if they can be tough to find beyond those working rides at times if you have questions. We ran into a few that could have been having a bad day, it can't be an easy job trying to watch out for the safety of teenage idiots all day. It's not the best Six Flags, refurbishments suck when you hope they wait until after October ends and its all closed until the spring. Some of it still needs an upgrade but overall, we enjoyed ourselves. There is still work to be done and I hope SF and the new corporate structure will continue giving this park the time and money it deserves for what is a pretty rural community. But it was still enjoyable enough to get us back some day, as long as things can remain open and staffed.

A few have sound effects and even move around. The Predator (from the movie display was cool, it looks real. It may seem a little scarier if you are in a smaller group. This would definitely be a good place to come to for Halloween. If you take time to enjoy the displays, press some of the buttons and read the information, it'll take you 30-45 mins to complete.

Ever since we discovered North Carolina's best kept secret, Santa's Land in Cherokee back in the…read more'90s, we've been chasing kitschy, nostalgic theme parks. The more bizarre and surreal the better ... Dinosaur Land (White Post, VA, Professor Cline's Haunted Monsters Museum (Natural Bridge, VA), and Storybook Land (Egg Harbor Township, NJ) just to name a few. It's hard to say no to these wonderful time capsules. One that's been on our list for years is the original Santa's Land (no affiliation) in Putney, Vermont, which celebrates its 65th anniversary in 2022. After years of neglect and abandonment, I must admit we were a little apprehensive about the park taking on a more contemporary look. But thankfully that wasn't the case. We found the park to be quite enchanting complete with gingerbread men, life size elves from the 1950's and even an original carousel from Coney Island. Their larger-than-life slide will quickly remind you just how much fun can be had with a burlap sack. We had the pleasure of speaking with the new owner (of six and a half years). He recalled how he used to visit the park as a young child, and always told his parents that he wanted to one day own all of this. He not only made his dream come true, but he also saved the park from oblivion. The friendly staff seem to have a real passion for keeping this park alive and it shows! Thank you, THANK YOU, for a wonderful day. Santa's Land USA is a perfect balance of old and new for all to enjoy!

It's a hidden gem.. the perfect five star fun park for kids of any age.. we were driving back from…read moreVermont to New Jersey and found this place on the way.. it's actually wanted to do some go karting and I found this place through Google and it had good reviews.. yeah even though it's not the biggest go karting tracks kids had ample fun.. a smaller track but they had about 21 laps per person.. It was fun. Kids went to the go kart twice .. and pricewise. It wasn't exuberantly expensive like other the so-called go karting tracks... we paid about $70 for 12 activities, which wasn't bad at all.. There were also batting cages. Kids had fun hitting baseballs at 405060 MPH. Mini golf was fun too... they had 14 holes and somewhere really difficult.. kids also loved the basketball area .. Really good place to past time for about two or three hours . Staff were so friendly and helpful... not much to eat around, but they had cold drinks.. very good experience overall ..

We went on the train twice, the scrambler, the big slide. they have a little school bus there that you can go on and sit and pretend to drive. We had a couple of drinks, it was a nice summer night and this place is close enough to Lyft. DJ music all night! We had a slice of pizza, fries, tried the fried dough. It was delicious. The beer is very expensive and they poured it into what looked like a five or 6 ounce cup and it was nine dollars. You could get the same size wine for the same price or you can get a can of various flavored ciders. It didn't really make any sense and it was insanely expensive for the beer and that is my only negative feedback. Why couldn't we just get a can of beer? Otherwise we had a great time and we had fun being big kids.

Kids enjoyed the rides. Suitable for their age. Youngest did Like the carousel and caterpillar ride. Most of the other rides were good for 5 and 6 y/o. Spent about 3 hours there and everyone enjoyed it. Not crowded which was nice.
