The mochaccino and savoury french toast were very high quality (came out to around $27ish for both after tip). The caramelized onions and cheese on the french toast alongside the maple syrup made for a very good sweet and savoury flavour kick -- if you don't eat much, you could definitely share since I had trouble finishing it! The mochaccino was also not too sweet and had a good balance between coffee and chocolate, I could see why it was so busy on a Sunday morning so come early if you can :) There's a variety of seating (outdoor and by the fireplace as well) and the ambiance was lively. read more

Got their salami sandwich (focaccia bread), maple danish, and mocacino. Everything was delicious! The salami sandwich, despite being sarang wrap was super fresh. Lots of lettuce and had tomatoes and pickles too. Sundried tomato mayo and havarti cheese as well. Everything was perfectly balanced. The maple danish was so good. Like a dark/amber maple syrup. We were forgotten after check-in, with several groups sat immediately; once we were seated, we waited way too long to get drink orders taken, longer for food orders; an it took nearly 40 minutes to (over)cook the simple egg breakfasts. Before heading to the airport, we stopped for brunch at Leonhards, and I'm so glad we did. The restaurant is small and cozy, but absolutely worth the wait for a table in such a cute and quaint spot. I ordered the tuna sandwich on toasted sourdough, and it was fantastic--fresh, not at all fishy, with the aioli mayo adding just the right touch of flavor. My husband went with the ham and cheese sandwich paired with the soup of the day, a cream of zucchini with Parmesan, which was rich, creamy, and full of flavor. Our friends ordered the omelette and the Freida hash--both dishes were delicious, with the omelette cooked perfectly and the hash being especially satisfying. We couldn't resist sharing the French toast, and it did not disappoint--the batter was spot on. Overall, I'd definitely recommend Leonhards for brunch or even takeout. Spent some time in Charlottetown during a cruise and asked a passerby for a lunch recommendation. She wasn't a local, but told us she went to Leaonhard's everytime she visited. What a great place. It's cozy and comfortable and the service was prompt and the food was excellent. You could call this a "souper" experience indeed! Finally got over the Leonhards after a few raving reviews on their lunch and food and oh wow am I glad I did! Such a cute and quaint little vibe in Great George St but wow was it busy! We got there around 11:45 and waited maybe 15 min so not bad at all, but by the time we left quite a line so get there early or you might be waiting a bit. The service was friendly and prompt, vax passes checked and our table was sanitized before being seated. The menu is really great with a lot of options for all diets from vegan to GF and also with a lot of local options. Coffee options, baked foods, sandwiches, bowls, salads, bowls, soups and everything in between to tantalize your tastebuds! After much debate settled on the soup and half Sammy special where you can pick any sandwich on the menu. The sandwich I ordered was called the vegan and filled with curried chickpeas, roasted eggplant, avocado, tomato, and greens served on some really amazing whole grain thick sliced rye that had me drooling. The soup is what really stole the show here, sliding in as the daily special, curried cauliflower and IT. HAD. ME. WEAK. IN. THE. KNEEs. So much flavour and perfect merriment of cozy spices balanced with a fresh garnish of parsley. I wish I could send this taste to everyone even remotely interested in trying Leonhards so I could sell it on the spot. Such a fantastic lunch, bright and vibrant yet a calm atmosphere that made it a great experience. On a recent trip to the maritimes we stopped here for breakfast. The service is swift and warm. I had a bacon sandwich. It was seriously good, it was a layer of bacon, a layer of cheese and several layers of greens, and the bread was not too thick. For me, it was about as healthy as a bacon sandwich could be. My partner had a salmon & dill ciabatta. Both came with big healthy servings of salad that included fresh mushroom, crunchy carrot and radish slices! I always forget about radishes but love them when they show up. This restaurant is on a street full of things to see and do. There is street parking. read more

My wife and I were in town for her to do some work, so before we made our way back to the mainland, we had to refuel. I came across Leonhard's glowing recommendations online, and thought the cozy-looking lunch spot would not only provide sustenance, but (hopefully) do it with quality and style. Arriving in the mid-afternoon, the restaurant was about 40% full, at it's smattering of tables and small banquettes. The interior has a very beach house feel, with white-washed walls, wooden ceiling and wainscotting, and plants and cut wood that added a sense a nature. We were given our choice of seating and chose a table near the window, to take in the sun and limited midday-Charlottetown people watching. Although some breakfast items were available through the afternoon (kudos!), I was feeling like something more substantial and less eggy. The "chicken burger" and schnitzel had caught my wife's eye, and being the schnitzel fan that I am, I went with that while she got the chicken. With a limited clientele at that time of day, it wasn't long before we got our plates. Mine was a respectable mass of food, with the hefty breaded and flattened cutlet of pork that was topped with sautéed onions and mushrooms, roasted slices of potato, and a garden salad with a mustard dressing. The schnitzel was nice and crisp, and the pork was supple without being tough, and was moist as well. You can't go wrong with sautéed onions and mushrooms, and they brought added richness and depth of flavour to each bite. The slices of potato were wonderful, with one side golden brown and crisp, and the other still light and potatoey. Keeping me from being a total glutton, the garden salad was a refreshing pop of colour and lighter flavours to balance the other parts of my meal. My wife's "chicken burger" was stretching the term to its limits, with a roasted chicken breast betwixt a whole grain flatbread, with havarti and chutney. Chicken sandwich yes, burger no. The chicken was cooked to perfection and the other ingredients helped add flavour to the blandest cut of chicken that there is, but the thin bun wasn't up to the task of containing everything and fell apart. Service was prompt and really friendly, in true Islander fashion. In the land of seafood shacks and pubs, Leonhard's is a standout for its atmosphere and quality, locally-sourced menu. But if you're looking for a burger, you'll want to go elsewhere. read more

I had the eggs Frieda which is essentially a scramble with sausage, bacon, eggs, perfectly cooked potatoes and a cheese and herb mix - to die for! Absolutely DELICIOUS. If you don't eat here while in Charlottetown you are missing out. My table neighbours both had variations of the eggs Benedict and while I am not a Benedict lover they were beautiful and looked made to perfection. Everyone seems to clean their plate here so there isn't much going in the compost bin! I also had a latte and it was perfect for me - I am not a strong flavour coffee lover though so some may find it to be too much of a light roast for them. read more

Amazing decoration, food prepared to perfection and even though the line took too long, it was worth it every single minute. Tried the Hawaii Toast and it was perfect. While Leonard's is best known as a busy, trendy brunch spot on the weekends, it has much more than that to offer. It's also great for lunch and breakfast during the week when it's a bit quieter. They serve a great coffee, and the ambience is very laid back, with the decor suggesting a "beach house" feel. The staff are also really friendly and responsive. There's also a few nice lounge chairs for relaxing around the fireplace. I've tried the salads and sandwiches here, and they are very generous portion sizes. The sandwiches are stacked nice and high. While I was in town to visit a friend, we met up on a Saturday late morning around 11 am for brunch. We only waited around 10 mins for a table for 5 which was a steal. The cafe is super cute and has a semi rustic look to it with a homey feel. Our table ordered 3 salmon bennys, a sausage benny and french toast with fresh fruit. I really enjoyed the maple syrup with the french toast, it was sweet and smooth! The coffee as well was very strong which took me by surprise. We couldn't help but also get a few desserts to share. We ordered a slice of the vanilla roll cake and a raspberry mousse cake slice. Both were delightful but the roll cake was slightly on the sweeter side for me. The cream in the vanilla roll cake was very light but very sweet. Overall, would definitely recommend giving this cafe a try if you ever end up on the east coast! Sat us to wait in a large comfy chair & then our table. Beautiful surroundings, warm atmosphere & artistic, paintings everywhere. They showed concern for my nut & shellfish allergies. Delicious white Multigrain toast & a bowl filled with roasted potatoes, caramelized onions, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, cheese etc. Just mouth watering every bite. She had a delicious plate of over easy & crispy bacon. She a Chai tea latte she loved. Me a regular latte that was just ok, a bit weak but it was the only not perfect item. Service was decent as well. The owner was working the cash area & trying to handle the lineups out the door. He was a nice German fellow. Would love to know the back story on why he's in PEI. But all I know is that our meal wasn't a meal it was am experience. This is a fabulous breakfast and lunch spot in the heart of the downtown core. They serve great coffees and by far the best Eggs Benedict I've ever had. All other reviews that say the service is slow is correct. Only 2 ladies serving whole place so be prepared to wait. Ordered good pork schnitzel with nice seasoning and light breading which came with mediocre fried potatoes but good salad with mustard dressings to help balance the richness of the pork. Chocolate and almond danishes good but not great. Tuna salad sandwich slightly different taste but large portion and good flavor. Overall, spendy and could find better choice. Wouldn't come again. The vegetarian salad is a bit of a miss. Raw mushrooms should not be in a salad. They should be grilled or roasted. Same for the large pieces of raw red pepper. Would be better roasted. Salad needed nuts or seeds or some other protien component besides shredded havarti cheese (which would have been better cubed). Salad could be smaller and better for same price. Side of dry bread with no butter, oil or spread (hummus?) offered was a bit disappointing as well. Friendly staff and nice interior. Decent eggs benedict. Decent coffee. read more

The display of the food was really nice. Everything tasted excellent, even the side salad served with the bagel. The French toasts were exquisite, soft and crispy at the same time and so tasty.
