The food was rather tasteless. and overpriced . I ordered the ham, egg, and cheese sandwich. It was greasy. The egg was flat as a pancake with the tiniest portion of yoke. I tried some jam on the white bread served with my sandwich and it tasted like sugar, not a hint of strawberry. As for my partner, he ordered an omelette and just picked at it. The service was friendly and efficient. (I feel bad because the person who waited on us was so nice. But, in the end, it isn't so much about the service as about the food.) The exterior looked very inviting. So I stopped in to grab a latte. The inside is very tight and small and it appears to be more of a diner than a coffee shop. I went to the counter and wasn't greeted but I did ask for a latte And was disappointed to see that it just came out of an automatic machine when I was looking more for a hand crafted latte. We found a live maggot in the pancake meal, showed the owners and they got defensive and tried denying it even tho we showed them the maggot on the knife right infront of their eyes. They didn't offer anything or take any money off our bill, they are lucky we didn't leave without paying. We found out since the place got new owners it became rundown and less popular. Way too overpriced 12$ for a BLT on white toast with LAYS potato chips! That's embarrassing a restaurant serving store bought lays potato chips in a breakfast meal. What a waste of money. read more

Stopped in to Linda's for an impromptu lunch today while exploring with my family and definitely wasn't disappointed. We each chose a variety of items - my in-laws both ordered a hot hamburger; husband got a chicken sandwich; daughter got French toast and sausage; nephew chose a pancake and bacon; and I got a falafel wrap - so there's quite a bit of selection. I really appreciated that breakfast was still available at 1:30pm on a weekday (even the pickiest of kids will usually eat breakfast)! Highlights for me included the fries (absolutely amazingly cooked; just crispy enough and seasoned wonderfully) and the falafel (loved that it had pickles). The only thing I wish was that the falafel had included some sort of side with it - I settled on the small wrap and it was $8.50 with nothing included. My in-laws both had a side included with their meals, and my husband's sandwich came with potato chips - good thing I was permitted to pilfer some of theirs! I would have given a five star review if that had been covered. Last thing: the owners are legit WONDERFUL people. We didn't speak long, but they just had a vibe. They were so attentive to my daughter and nephew (both four years old) and it just warmed my heart. My girlfriend and I stopped in here for a cup of coffee this past weekend. The inside of the restaurant was pleasant and reminded me of a diner with a food bar on one side where we sat. I can't say that the coffee was good or that they had any selection especially for a place advertised to be a coffee shop. However our server was pleasant enough and talked to us like we were locals. The bottom line for me is that I would not head back here just for coffee as there are many better places nearby. Visited this place because we were told this was the best breakfast in town by a local. Make sure you allow 2 hours when visiting this restaurant. The service is slow, line up out the door even though there's empty seats inside. So make sure you bring change to keep feeding the parking meter. Staff are friendly but you will need to be a frequent visitor to get special and fast treatment. Menu is small and nothing special. Food is decent sized portions and decent value. Homefries are extra crispy and recommend you try if you visit. Wouldn't know if its the 'best in town' as we are only visitors but certainly nothing too special. A few simple solutions that can help them turnover faster: 1. Invest in service trays - for when cleaning tables and serving food, will allow waitress to carry more rather than two cups at a time. 2. When seating customers after long wait, take their drink orders first so they can at least be hydrated while they wait. Also creates the perception of a faster service time 3. Have a small bowl for milk & cream packages for customers who order coffee so that waitress doesn't have to run back to fridge and get extra packets every time they refill coffee cups read more

The perfect place for a home cooked meal! Nothing fancy on the menu and very comforting. My daughter was so pleased with scrambled eggs, bacon , toast and pancakes, she ate every bite. I enjoyed a BLT. Bacon was cooked perfectly, the food was served warm , this is a no fuss no muss, perfectly priced warm casual place to eat. Great for families! Be really careful with the owner. In my opinion he is a very dishonest business owner. I went there for a lunch few days ago. Food was fine and the service was fine. It looked like everyone would get up from their seat and went pay at the cashier who was a middle age man who appeared to be the owner of the business. So I did the same and went up to him. The meal including tax came up to $9.78. I didn't have small changes so I gave him three $5 bills. Anyone who has common sense, especially if you work in a restaurant, you would know that I was asking you to change the $5 into smaller bills so I could give you tips. The man took the $15 and did not give me anything back. So I asked him how much the bill was. First, he didn't want to say anything. So I asked again. This time, he gave me 20 cents back and said, " this is your change". And then he waved the $5 and said, " this is tips". Seriously? Is it up to you to tell me how much I should tip you? What part of me is telling you that I was a clueless tourist who would let you rip off like that? At least you could have asked me if that was my intention? I insisted him to break the $5 and still gave him $3 tips. That was still 30% tips. I just didn't want the girl who served me lose money because of him. But really, PEI is an island whose economy heavily relies on tourism and a restaurant on busy Queen street is an important representation of the hospitality of the local people. This place was a major disappointment for the way we were treated by staff. When we arrived we seated ourselves as their sign indicated. We were there at 11 a.m. for coffee. The waitress brought us menus which we looked at but ordered coffee and muffins as we were meeting people at one for lunch. The waitress snapped the menus out of our hands and from that time was colder than the water she brought us. There was never any offer of refills on coffee or water and the attitude of the waitress made us feel unwelcome. As I was paying the gentleman at the cash asked if everything was OK.There may have been a language issue. I told him the service was very frosty and he asked if I was cold. I told him the waitress was rude and he told me it wasn't her fault. We left and I did not tip (a first for me) If you go in to this COFFEE SHOP and order just a coffee and snack it doesn't seem to be appreciated. Linda's is a decades old institution in Charlottetown with a short-order menu. Starting as a sandwich counter it has grown to a decent kitchen with a solid reputation. A favorite of ours for the breakfast special on the weekends - two eggs any style, bacon sausage, toast, home fries coffee and tea. On busy days it may take longer, like when the Marathon is running like last week. Normally you are in and out within 30 to 45 minutes. The food is great, the service prompt and they coffee good to awesome. They have a European coffee machine so the choices are not limited. read more

My wife and I ate breakfast here. I ordered pancakes, eggs, bacon, homefries. Asked for an extra pancake in lieu of homefries, was told there would be a small upcharge. I said fine. Pancakes were lukewarm, served with COLD syrup, straight from the fridge. I am 65 and have eaten pancakes my whole life, and the cold syrup is a first. Unfortunately, my wife ordered pancakes too, so eating her food was not an option. When bill came, there was a $3 charge for the extra crummy pancake, making my breakfast $14. Wow. There are several decent places for breakfast in Charlottetown. This is not one of them. read more
