No lie some of the best custard we've ever had! Line was long but moved efficiently- probably waited about 20-30 minutes to get to the front. Prices were great with a small two scoop custard coming in under $4. Quality was outstanding!

It appears that Milwaukee is known for more than beer and cheese curds. Leon's came highly recommended by the locals for all things custard, and they might be onto something... My colleagues and I all tried them out, with mine being one of the most conventional surprisingly. I went for the vanilla and berry custard which was just the right amount of sweetness and creaminess. I can't say that it was a mind blowing experience, as I've had similar at good old Rita's back in Maryland.

**July 2025: Weeknight Visit** I did quite a bit of research for my Milwaukee trip and everything I read insisted that a trip to Milwaukee would not be complete without frozen custard. What is frozen custard you might ask? It's like a sup'd up ice cream that's richer and smoother. It has more egg yolk than ice cream so this creation is just silkier and smoother cold treat. Anyways, Leon's came up as the top search so my friend and I went to go check it out. On our visit there was a line of maybe 30 or so people at 7pm on a Wednesday. Suffice to say they're doing something right! The restaurant has a also 1950s look and bright lights that kind of remind me of Vegas. The cone prices seemed moderate to me - a double scoop was $3.76, but I somehow was able to get a single scoop for $2 or so. The line moved pretty quickly and I tried a crowd favorite the Butter Pecan. It was certainly silky smooth and flavorful. If I'm back in the area I wouldn't mind to come back and try more flavors!

Got there right at opening! Skip the line.

I ordered a shake with both lemon and blueberry. It was phenomenal. Boyfriend got Vanilla with hot fudge. Also really good. Service was nice. Friendly vibes.

I wasn't referred here. I was just passing by something about it. Looked like it could be a winner!! when I started taking my pictures I could see that everyone passing by had stopped car after car after car pulling over I knew I hit the jackpot. I ordered a small butter pecan and a hotdog. The customer service was fantastic. The ambiance is a walk up window, so it screams quick and hurry. The first spoon of the butter pecan, I knew I had stumbled upon a gold mine. As I got in my car, the parking lot was full That cycle had repeated itself ever since I first pulled over. The hotdog was just a hotdog, but the custard. Deserves a five star and I don't give five stars often.

Leon's Frozen Custard was sooo good! The custard was so creamy, rich, and the perfect amount of sweetness. I got the smallest size but I definitely should have gotten a bigger size! You can get the custard in a cup or cone :) I was thinking of trying Leon's or Kopp's but decided to try Leon's since I heard they are OG. I did try Culver's as well, but it did NOT come close to the taste and texture of Leon's custard. I definitely need to try Kopp's next for comparison!

Trends will come and go, but sometimes they're strong enough to stand the test of time. Leon's Frozen Custard has been serving south Milwaukee (and then some) since 1942 operating under a simple premise: "To sell frozen custard and to do it as well as we can." Mission accomplished. There I was, however many years later, standing in a decent line on a chilly Spring evening to place my order. The custards looked good, but I went with a old stand by - a cherry shake - which hit the spot. Besides custard - shakes, malts, sundaes and a banana split are available. So are hot dogs, chili dogs and a Spanish hamburger, if you're hungry. Half gallon and gallon custard tubs can be purchased to go.

Leon's was my last stop on my WI custard tour. I had previously eaten 2 Turtle Sundaes within about 30 minutes from my earlier stops. My mind was telling me yes, but my stomach was telling me no, on ordering another Turtle Sundae. I had remembered reading online somewhere that Leon's had some amazing Butter Pecan custard. So....I went with that. They start out their sizes with "double scoop" (my type of place!) so I went with a double scoop of Butter Pecan in a dish. How was it? Butter Pecan- Damn, they weren't lying! Leon's Butter Pecan is bomb as F! It was so rich and creamy and buttery. Good roasted, salted pecans throughout! This may have been the best single flavor frozen custard I had ever had. It was perfect. Even though I was stuffed to the gills, I could have probably ate another scoop or two of it. It was that good! Cool spot and I would be here all the time if I lived in Milwaukee!

Stopped here for a quick sweet while shopping with a friend. The price of my cone here was cheaper than what I pay for 4 scoops at Kopp's, and I like the flavor of this custard so much better! The texture was rich and creamy. Forewarning: it melts faster than most other custard! I'm hoping I can stop back on a day when blue moon is one of the daily specialty flavors!

After reading all the reviews I had to try Leon's. Went with the classic vanilla as well as strawberry. Overall the custard is pretty good, great mouth feel and creamy. The vanilla and strawberry flavors were a little on the lighter side, when compared to Kopp's. Still quite good custard, but Kopp's slightly edges out on flavor and is a little more smooth. Love the vibe of Leon's and the parking lot was packed, always a good sign.

Excellent choice for any out-of-towners because of the old school decor and diner-style. We had the tin roof sundae with vanilla and chocolate frozen custard, chocolate syrup, and Spanish peanuts.

I stopped by for a scoop of mint chip custard and it was creamy, rich, cool, and delicious. But - really is there no bad day for custard? No, there isn't! This place is busy all year round, and for good reason. For the custard, there is usually a flavor of the day, plus the usual favorites, vanilla and chocolate, plus a sundae and shake of the month. A sign outdoors advertises the flavor of the day and a monthly menu of each flavor of the day is available online, if you want to plan ahead for your visit. If you've not been to this Milwaukee icon, it's a must-stop; the custard is really, really good. The retail store is set up like a 50s type diner, and there are plenty of folks ready to take your order. There is no seating indoors, just a few tables for standing-only to munch and chat. However, there is outdoor seating like a mini amphitheater on cement steps, and when the weather is nice, it is not unusual to see large groups of customers sitting outside eating ice cream or other treats or burgers. The menu also includes burgers, chicken sandwiches, fries, shakes, malts, floats, and sundaes, too.

This time I had the KRK Burger with fries and onion rings along with two scoops of Cookies & Cream custard in a waffle cone. Everything was delicious. The restaurant is clean, well lit, and runs efficiently. Even when it's busy, the staff keeps the line moving and is always friendly and helpful. I also love their rotating Flavor of the Day custard options, and they even post a three day forecast so you can plan ahead. Overall, Kopp's is a great spot for both food and dessert. Definitely recommended.

Because I knew another member of our tribe would want to be there, I invited her and her partner as well. All in all, there were going to be seven of us, so my partner and I quickly headed to Babe's to warn them that we were going to have a large group. The young staff was friendly and amiable, allowing us to move furniture in order to accommodate everyone. The banana split is a create-your-own adventure, allowing the customer to choose three flavors of incomparable Chocolate Shoppe ice cream as well as three toppings!! Unfortunately, we were told that they didn't have any bananas for splits. (Cue "Yes, We Have No Bananas.") Birthday Girl was quite disappointed, but what are you going to do? While everyone else was being served, one of the staff realized they had frozen bananas that were supposed to be chocolate-dipped, so I asked if that could be used for the split. We were told yes! I don't remember what flavors the birthday girl chose, but I do remember her big smile when she got her split. Our experience was definitely a seven out of seven, one thumbs up from each member of our group.

Even her mom asked her to finish the customers in line and she ignored the entire line including the order is was in the middle of and told her mom that everyone was order was done. Which was incredibly inconsiderate and wrong. Before the mom left, she told her kid (the worker) that she has 15 mins left and should be working. After the mom left the worker continued to not help any one. Thank goodness for the manager (lady in the red shirt) she actually saw what happened and took over the line. It was our first night of our family vacation and I love coming to Wisconsin because of the people and the customers service but I guess that doesn't count for this restaurant. But the lady in the red shirt deserves a raise and the worker needs it fix her (their) priorities. The ice cream was really good (I would just go to a different location).

This was the first time I've been in this building since it was the Grand Avenue Mall lol. I originally was going to go to Pizza Shuttle but they were not opened yet so I decided to go with a cheeseburger and fries here at Dairyland. I was told their burgers come with 2 patties which I was totally fine with. As always I went with ketchup, mustard and pickles. I didn't know until a day later I could've got was the old fashioned which is almost like the original cheeseburger but it comes with brown mustard instead of yellow. I like both mustards but I will take brown over yellow any day. I didn't really have to wait long for my order which was a plus. The burger and fries were seasoned well. The fries kind of gave you that Checker's fries vibe and I believe the same seasoning was used on the burger. The burger was nice and juice and was served on a sesame seed bun. The cheese was nice and melty and gooey too. For what I spent for the burger and fries I would pay that amount at Kopp's but that would include a shake, but because I don't spend that kind of coin for a cheeseburger meal like that it's okay. My only criticism is that they used a touch too much mustard, but the overall hot and freshness of my meal I would order from here again.
