Our mini split AC system died so we contacted LePrevost to diagnose the problem. Milt, our technician for many years diagnosed the problem as failed circuit boards. Due to the age of the system and the cost of repair we decided to replace with a Bosch heat pump that would provide heat as well as AC. After obtaining multiple quotes Leprevost was clearly the most competitive. A crew of two arrived and completed the removal and installation in one day. Could not be more pleased with the quality of their work and the end result. We had them come several times for various things such as hooking up the washer and installing a sink and line to our fridge. They also had a come and check out our heating and even though they were very busy, they made accommodations. I have read the bad reviews here, and I have not found any of that behavior exhibited in dealing with them... So I would highly recommend them. Plumbers are the most in demand vendors when you have a house and people need to understand that they can't be in 50 places at once. We have had LePrevost come to the house on many occasions: shut down and open up the house, install a new sink and faucet, install a new hot water tank, etc. I have always been very impressed by their customer service and work. Arranging the appointments was easy, responsive, pleasant, and professional. The administrative staff and workers communicate promptly. They arrived when they said they would, and sometimes even early. The plumbers were skillful and cleaned up after they were done. Because they seem to have an extensive team of workers, we didn't have to wait long to get an appointment. Without any reservation, I would highly recommend calling them for your plumbing needs. This company has come through for me twice, both emergency or almost emergency situations. When I moved to the area, in October, 2019, my boiler died. It was cold. LePrevost answered my call, sent a heating technician, and : heat restored. Just recently, I had an AC problem. The system is installed already, but it does not work. I needed an ac technician for a repair. This is not an easy find. Again, LePrevost took the call, scheduled an appointment and sent a qualified technician on time. Sean found the problem and fixed it. In this sweltering heat, I finally have air conditioning. LePrevost gets my gratitude and my business. read more

A number of LePrevost plumbers have been to my house and with mixed experience. Milt was very, very good. But *******, won't write his name, purposely took advantage and insisted he do additional work, so by the time he left the bill was four times as much as I expected. Even two other plumbers got very quiet when I pointed out what he did, saying I didn't think it was necessary. But over the past couple of years, their rates have skyrocketed (whopping $118/hr) and they charge full rate for "travel time." So if the plumber's previous job is in Great Barrington, you are charged 2 hours at full rate for travel. I think some homeowners who don't check the bill may not realize they're paying this addendum. Sorry, I don't buy it. read more

The staff are very friendly but the owner is horrendously rude and unprofessional. In addition, they sold us the wrong size mini split condenser system and admitted their error several months later when they came back to finish phase 2 of the job and realized they could not do so based on what they did in phase 1. The owner admitted they "screwed up" and that we have to "pay more now to finish the job." He agreed to come over and review all the work and then to split the difference. I could live with this. Instead, he showed up and insulted both me and my husband and tossed around several derogatory remarks. My husband refused to let him leave until he apologized. He did and (shockingly) we never heard from him again. We ended up hiring another company to finish the job. Horrible experience all because the owner has a Napoleon complex. Its a shame because the rest of the staff are very nice. read more

Professional Plumbing . This company sets the standard for contractors in the Berkshires and beyond . While it is admittedly not hard to be above average in the field , LePrevost is the best . They answer the phone when you call , they know who you are , provide the services they promise and then send the itemized bill . I can't say they're much more expensive than other plumbers ( less than $100 / hour ) and their emergency weekend rate is time and a half . I inquired about a job had Ken come out to meet. All good from there. However he mentioned to me that I would have the quote by the end of the week for the job. 2 weeks had passed and I heard nothing from him. I called the secretary and asked if Ken had a chance to write up the quote. Secretary said she would pass it along and have Ken give you a call. 1 week later I called again asked where's my quote? Once again the secretary said I'll pass it along to Ken and have him give you a call. Very irritated I went to the office and asked where is my quote, at that point 3 weeks have gone by and I haven't heard back from Ken or the secretary woman. I saw her and she then again said I will have Ken give you a call. I called a few times after that then I just gave up. Whle this is one of the larger plumbing companies in South County, I haven't had great experiences with them. Every time they have fixed something, they leave some other problem behind. They are quite expensive and have over-charged me more than once. They are convenient and answer emergency calls promptly, which is why I do use them sometimes, but I hope to find someone better soon. read more

We own a gas fireplace insert that has not worked correctly since it was originally installed three years ago. After several attempts to have the original vendor/installer fix the unit, we finally called LePrevost. We should have done that in the first place. The service manager at LePrevost did his best to get a technician to our home as quickly as possible. When the technician arrived the day after our phone call (and remember this was NOT an emergency) he was prompt, courteous, and thorough. He corrected one of what turned out to be two serious issues with the insert. When the unit continued to function improperly (due to a second issue that had been masked by the first), we contacted LePrevost the next day and once again a technician was dispatched promptly and courteously. With the first issue now resolved, the technician was able to diagnose and correct the second major issue, which was tied directly to a flawed original installation. Our unit now works perfectly - for the first time since we purchased it three years ago. LePrevost installed our home heating system more than seven years ago and it has worked flawlessly since then. We should have returned to LePrevost when we bought our fireplace insert. Now we know. Great work! read more
