GREAT POWER LUNCH - When you walk into Les Moustaches, you are greeted by several plaques demonstrating their quality, as well as an elegant open dining area and a compact but well equipped bar. I'm not a fanboy of French food as I think it can be a bit heavy at times, but boy oh boy was this place great! The salmon was perfectly cooked( with a slightly raw interior, served on some of the best roasted vegetables you can imagine. Around it was a delicious sesame ribbon breadstick, absolutely amazing. They also gave us some complementary rose and a shot of lentil consomme, all excellent. The prices were elevated a bit, most diners arrived in jackets, so it if definitely a higher end joint, but it is probably one of the few French themed places I will seek out again. And if you like French fare in the slightest, or even if you are slightly against it, it is definitely worth a try. Oh and since it's a French place I should also mention the bread was served as petite almost crossaint shaped rolls with the balance of a crispy, toasted crust and a perfectly leavened yet glutinous and porous pliable interior. laughably bad food in the stuffiest place imaginable. go here for stale bread, bad music, and dry fish. we ordered the cheese plate, duck, salmon, and a white fish. for dessert we got the chocolate mousse which tasted suspiciously like a pudding mix. the cheeses were good but came with an artificial, bright red jelly that was indistinguishable to any fruit or flower -- just chemicals. it was a very stuffy, fancy-style place in a way that was cheugy and over-the-top: greco-style columns, dramatic serving of dishes in silver platters, freezer-burned sorbet to cleanse the pallet. let me tell you what I got.... The best martini of my life --martini pepino "cucumber"--made with grey goose. The best escargot of my life (caracoles a la procenzal) The Cesar 8/10, a hint of sweetness and something I didn't recognize. Still delicious, I just might order one of their amazing onion soups instead next time. I actually couldn't eat anymore (although I wanted the lamb and half the desserts) after the excellent food and may I add excellent service. I'll be back...this week ;-) read more

We made reservations two months ago and got a confirmation. We took a half hour uber drive here to celebrate our 30th anniversary. When we got there the matre d told us they were closed for a film shoot No courtesy text in advance no apologies for their mistake and referred us to a very bad restaurant three blocks away. What an incredible meal and experience at Les Moustaches. Set in a fin de siecle mansion in Mexico City, stepping into LM is a trip back in time. I imagine my parents dining in such a place circa 1974. The elegance of the setting is the starting off point to a traditional French restaurant. The only thing letting you know you are in MC is the fact that the songs in French are Latino songs of the 60s and 70s. Enfin, a delightful experience while in Ciudad de Mexico. read more

They are truly a good restaurant. We had a party here in one of the private rooms located in the library where we could have a table for 10. The whole place is like a dream. Is like a French mansion. We were able to order from the menu but you can always set a previous menu with two options if you like. Menu is a little pricey but I think it's worth it. Everything is yummy. We have some cocktails and wine which were pricier!!! So I guess you coulddrink something with your kunch/dinner and get another glasd of wine in a bar or later in the evening :D The service was always attentive and super fast. read more

Surprisingly reasonable, and utterly delicious. Service is impeccable. There were 3 of us, and they bring all the entrees as covered plates, and had 3 waiters open them all on the same exact cue, with a flourish. I only eat salmon on occasion as I find the taste a bit strong, quickly tire of it, but they give you a tasting spoon of minced salmon with herbs that I could have sat there and eaten a full bowl of it and been in nirvana. I have never tasted salmon that good, and I've had it prepared all sorts of ways. The Oysters Rockefeller, I don't know what they sauteed the spinach in but it's enough to make you hover above the table on wings. Best spinach in my life, where the oysters were secondary, though tender and lovely, and the spinach was king. Escargot, plump, juicy and tender, in garlicky butter with herbs and spices. The Beef Wellington was perfectly cooked, in a tender moist pastry, tender potatoes, but the gravy/sauce, oh my. Exquisite. I don't know what it was made with, but it was superb. I could have eaten a bowl of it with a spoon. It was our friend's birthday, so they brought her a piping hot lemon souffle that had to have been concocted by angels, we all had a taste, and of course, about 6 men sang for her. Violin and piano, beautiful music, romantic, and not overwhelming. Just beautiful. Incredible food, incredible service, beautiful atmosphere. Wherever you stay in Mx Cty, it's worth the cab fare, trust me. I've eaten a lot of good food down here, but we all agreed, it would be our go-to spot anytime we were in town. Unfailingly. read more

Amazing place! Great food! The right taste, look and texture on every dish. More expensive than the average food in Mexico but it worth every penny. After a week of Mexican dishes the pleasure of experience great food from other culture is wonderful. The staff is very helpful and friendly. I took My boyfriend here for his bday and to celebrate the beginning of our Mexico 5 week backpacking trip. Boy, was he happy! We had a delicious late lunch here. Very good French onion soup as the first course. The Beef Wellington (one of my favorite dishes) was excellent as was the Gran Marnier soufflé for desert. The fillet was as good a cut of meat as I have had in any high end steak house, maybe better. The service was prompt and the food came out exceedingly quickly. Wonderful atmosphere. I have nothing but good things to say about this restaurant. It isn't cheap but coming from the US, there is nowhere I know of at home where I could have a three course French meal with cocktails and coffee for under $50 a person. Granted, the strong dollar helps that right now. All the more reason to visit soon. I will be back. read more
