Yesterday at a nice bistro I got a salad to lighten things up, and it had so much creamy dressing, I was right back where I started. Needing a change, I headed for Foyer Mon Vietnam, up a small street close to a pretty happening area of the latin quarter. The place is cozy and welcoming, clean, with plants, warm lighting, and reasonably sized and spaced tables (indoor dining only). The service was super friendly and fast. But best of all the food was so FRESH and DELICIOUS. I walked out with a spring in my step. Tomorrow I will eat a kilo of cheese again, but for now I am light and free! We had crab & shrimp rolls (fried so crispy but not oily at all, with tasty sauce that was tangy, light, and perfect without being goopy/thick, with accompanying lettuce and mint leaves, ordered a 2nd round it was so good), papaya salad (crisp fresh vegetables, fresh shrimp, great light dressing, no overwhelming garlic), lemongrass chicken (good quality white meat chicken, nice variety of colorful vegetables in various shapes that aren't just boring chunks, and just the right amount of spiciness), and white rice to balance it out. Summary is this was fresh, light, high quality ingredients, friendly service, and a welcome break from the otherwise heavy cuisine common in the city. I will be back!

After some searching, I found this place that seemed promising. I ordered the pho, but it was a major letdown. I didn't have high expectations, but it still managed to disappoint. The veggie portion was minimal, the overall portion was small, and the pho had just a hint of its usual aroma. I've had everything from authentic pho to halfway decent versions, but this was bare-bones pho. On the plus side, they didn't dilute the broth, so it wasn't completely watered down. I'd give it 3 stars, but I won't be coming back.

I ordered the vegetarian grilled dumplings and vegetarian soup noodles with a spicy level of 3. It was a cold day in Paris, so I was excited for some hot spicy noodles. The dumplings came pretty quickly within 5-7 minutes. They were coating with soy sauce, chili oil and green onions. Absolutely delicious and cooked to perfection. I devoured them in minutes, because I was starving. The noodles did take a little while longer to come out, but it gave me a break after my dumplings. They don't skimp out on the portions here at all! This was a giant bowl of soup noodles. The first bite was absolutely mind blowing. The broth was so full of flavor and spice without overdoing it. I devoured almost the entire bowl, because I was about to explode towards the end. I will definitely be back and I cannot wait. The total for both of these were 18 euros and that is a great price for the quality and quantity of this food.

The ambiance was excellent... bustling French Bistro with the doors open to the street and a nice breeze. For appetizers we had French Onion Soup which was excellent and the Terrine which was good and came with cornichons and pickled onions, perhaps enough for two to share. For entree's we had roast chicken with oven roasted potatoes and duck confit with potatoes Lyonnaise (although I think the menu described them as some sort of cheese something? Sorry.) . The roast chicken was a little dry and the roast potatoes a little bland but neither too dry nor too bland to make them really un-enjoyable, just not memorable. The duck confit and potatoes Lyonnaise were both very good. For dessert our daughter had vanilla crème brûlée which was excellent. Everything came out at the proper temperature and timed correctly. All in all we would definitely go back.

Hung over from 3 bottles of wine the night before (yeah, we went a little crazy...) we need something to cure us. Their hand pulled beef noodle soup did the trick! I noticed a line of people at this window getting Berthillon ice cream at Pom'Cannelle and the store next door. I was apprehensive at first, but both stores sell the famous ice cream out of a walk up window. The line moved at a moderate pace and gave me enough time to decide on the flavors I wanted to try. There is a green chalkboard like menu on the wall before the window with all of the flavors available. I ordered caramel nougatine and yaourt au yuza in a cup. Both were creamy, smooth, and delicious. The yuza had the light twang of frozen yogurt balanced with the sweetness of the yuza fruit. The caramel was a french versions of dulce de leche. All so good, yet never enough. These were gelato portion sizes. I also tried the burnt caramel on a cone and the flavor was a little too intense for my liking. I love the unique variety of flavors offered. This would have been 5 stars but they would not let us sit inside after buying ice cream from them and told us we had to leave.
