The service here was really wonderful! It is our first time in Paris, so we weren't sure of the procedures. A server found us and gave us the option of a calm table or louder one in an area with background music. He was quick to explain that there was an English menu, and generally made sure we were cared for the entire meal. However, the food was just so-so. After delving into the amazing world of cooking equipment and utensils at the famous E. Dehillerin, we were parched and ready for lunch. Stepping out of the store, we spotted Loup next door with its cute outdoor seating and resident dog greeted seemed like the perfect place to go. We were greeted by a friendly waiter who nicely switched to speaking English for us and took great care of us. One of my top two dishes of the Paris trip came from Loup and that was the (French) Onion Soup. A hearty portion in a piping hot crock with plenty of Gruyère - it was exceptional. I also had a roasted chicken salad that was delicious and plenty of bread and butter - but the onion soup!!! Paris, France Hangry? When the most popular places are packed Au Pied du Cochon for instance, and you don't have a reservation, this little corner cafe on the left can do the trick. Sit under the heated awning to watch Paris beauties saunter by, if you can tolerate endless cigarettes. The interior is great as well, and BTW you will not get away from smoke anyway. Order something from the rotisserie, it's quick but can be bland and drier than normal. Salt is on the table sauce is under the potatoes. Salads are ample and great, the wines are good. If its happy hour it's around 5È. Service is very efficient, they will ask of you want to leave a tip that's already included with the VAT. But you can be a generous American and leave another 10% if they haven't completely ignored you. read more

A friend highly recommend this place for the onion soup and rotisserie chicken. Loup has a very cool atmosphere and I imagine is pretty packed in the evenings and weekends (we were here around 3pm and there were a handful of people). The onion soup and mushroom salad were tasty, as was the Manhattan. However the Victoria cocktail (which had early grey infused Gin - something I make at home) was a bit sour for my tastes, with no lovely flora-herb hints of tea and for 14 euro not worth the price. The creme brûlée was also very disappointing- over cooked with the taste and texture of scrambled eggs with caramelized sugar. Might come here for happy hour to try some of the wines and check out the social scene but nothing too memorable about the food, considering all the other places to explore in Paris read more

Loup is one of my recent discoveries in Paris. If I could design a Parisian bar/restaurant it would pretty much look like Le Loup. The design of the menu: cool. Pretty disappointed by this place as I was looking to grab a bite after movies (located off Ugc ciné cité les halles ) The place is beautiful with a lot of details and a great atmosphere. The menu is quite interesting but not as exciting and on a high priced side...BUT I wanted a table outside so I went in and was attending by a staff member who invited me to seat anywhere i liked outside. Good you would tell me so why this low rating??? Well, nobody came to take my order!! Waited 15 minutes to flag someone and left. I still believe it is a nice place. Not my luck. read more

Therefore, I'm hesitant to give it five stars because I don't know what a Yelp 5 Star Paris restaurant review is for me yet, but it was perfect... 'it' being service, food, ambiance. Summer night at sunset could've influenced my opinion too... and the wine. I split the Carré de porc Basque et pommes du terre with my son and it was succulent and delicious. While categorized as a bar, this is definitely a restaurant. The rotisserie chicken wall is an interesting juxtaposition to the hipster bar in the middle of the restaurant. Service was quick, helpful, and very sincere. The menu wasn't in English which let me know this place wasn't touristy and therefore perfect. I enjoyed the Cordon Bleu with a beer on tap. For a place that specializes in rotisserie, I was expecting to be blown away by the roast chicken. It was nice, but not incredible. The chicken came with potatoes which again were ok. And the salad that accompanied it was sad. Greens which were barely dressed and not seasoned at all. It was an afterthought. We also had the chicken cordon bleu, which was tasty. Served with steamed vegetables, in what was a pesto sauce. I feel like they need to be more daring and inventive with their sides. And truly do the rotisserie-d meats well. When you walk past a spot where the locals are eating, you are bound to turn your head and probably stop by. Loup was one of those spots for me and it ended up being a respectable spot to grab a bite that is quintessentially French. Loup is that spot at the corner with the dim lighting, lively chatter, and candlelit tables with bottles amidst half eaten plates. The menu is your bistro fare with a simple and straightforward selection of items. Don't worry if you have a limited understanding of the French language, they have an english menu as well. The charcuterie and the selection of cheese that we started with was quite lovely. Escargot, while not for everyone, was on deck and was done well with the right amount of butter bringing balance to the natural briny flavors. I opted for the roast chicken since they had a beautiful rotisserie as you enter. It was ok, beautiful color and very tender, just a little dry and a scosh under-seasoned. Its ambiance is pretty cute and well done. Its traditional features and the lively nature make it a great spot to relax from a day of sightseeing while cracking open a bottle of bordeaux or chardonnay while filling that belly for another full day that lies ahead. read more

So this place was a pleasant surprise! You walk in greeted by a spit roast whole pig and birds spinning away making the room smell great! The decor is burlesque bar meets hunters cabin with bar walls hanging embalmed animal heads and an incredible amount light coming the entire facade along the restaurant. Ordering three different meats... Pork, lamb and beef and having tasted all the players... I was thouroughly impressed. The lamb shank was over salted but I would still go back. As well as meats for lunch, I noticed an interesting selection of breakfasts that, from what I saw from the table besides me, was quite generous. If you book in advance they offer a whole pig to share for the table feeding 8-12 people... It's barbaric and I would love to one day do it! We had brunch here for our first meal in Paris. The burger was actually very good - but the fries were overcooked. This is a very popular spot in which it can get very busy - but the brunch special is a very popular item on Sundays. Includes pancakes which were good and a salad. Our waiter forgot about the pancakes - and we had to remind him. He actually asked if we still wanted them? Now service is another issue, but I understand they are bit understaffed. Still it took a long time to get our food and almost 2 hours to finish the meal. This is not the place to go if you are in a hurry, and it is a bit cramped in terms of spacing in terms of seating. All in all- a good place to eat but be prepared for the shortcomings. read more

Disgustingly bad service. Dropped in for a glass of wine, paid for it immediately and made explained that I was on limited time. The waitress assured me that since it was a simple glass of wine, it was no big deal. She went back and poured it, and proceeded to chat with a friend at the bar. After 10 minutes of staring at the empty bar and my glass on the counter, I came in and asked for the glass, and was told she would bring it right out. After going back out, I waited another 5 minutes and gave up and simply left. I lost 5€, but having to go back in yet again would for something so basic as getting what I ordered was ridiculous. An appalling experience - we were a party of 10, and went to Loup on Saturday and booked a specific table of 10 for Sunday Lunch. Plus we pre-odered and agreed a price for a whole suckling pig roasted on a spit in the restaurant. When we turned up Sunday for the meal the restaurant had laid the wrong table, then claimed to know nothing about our preordered suckling pig! We had a round of drinks while we protested with the staff, but they said they knew nothing, and could not produce our Pork , we walked out in protest. This was a scam by the restaurant, in our opinion, to get our Party of 10 in for the Sunday sitting. An appalling experience - do not go here!! read more

Spent a week in Paris and this was one of the favorite places for dinner. I had the onion soup and a beef dish I can't remember the name of. My husband had escargot and the ham and said his was just as good as mine. The place was cute inside and the waiters spoke enough English that it made ordering easy.
