I used to come here all the time when I lived in Charlotte and Asian Corner was around still. Its the to go to place for Banh Mi. Now theres way more banh mi shops out there. Le's Sandwiches will always be my favorite banh mi shop in Charlotte. I had grew up eating there. They moved to another location which is the same parking lot area outside the lot by the old store. They had built and moved to a brand new shop. Iam so happy for them and wish the best for them. Their always quick and consistent with their food. Their banh mis are so delicous. May be a hot take, but this is easily one of the best banh mi spots I've tried on the East Coast. Le's is family-run, and when I stopped in I had the chance to chat with the owner's father who was there helping out--such a nice guy. You can tell they really care about what they're serving. They've been in business for over 20 years, and it shows. The baguettes are baked fresh in-house (crispy outside, fluffy inside), the proteins are loaded into each sandwich, and the pickled veggies were absolutely on point. Abundant meat fillings, including nem nuong (a type of sausage that I haven't seen in combo specials before) and luscious homemade butter squeezed between crispy and airy French bread, topped with the quintessential pickles. If you're from the DC area, then you'll know of Banh Mi DC, and Le's sandwich fillings reminded me of Banh Mi DC's, but their bread was superior. This is high praise. I also am so glad I tried their iced black Vietnamese coffee. I almost stopped at another spot for coffee beforehand, and I am beyond happy that I didn't because Le's black coffee with sugar was amazing! I was so impressed with the coffee they used that I bought a bag of ground beans to take home with us. Besides their specialty, we also sampled juicy pork buns and roast pork. My husband said the pork bun was super juicy and flavorful--so juicy, in fact, that it reminded him a little of the brothy soup dumplings. I have been going to Le's Sandwiches & Cafe ever since I was a child (and when they were still located in the Asian Corner Mall) and this place ALWAYS hits. Their new location is still in the same sketchy plaza with the bad potholes in the parking lot, but this place is a must try if you are looking for exceptional bánh mì. I always order their Bánh Mì Thịt Nguội and it is perfect. The house mayo and pâte are so good--I could literally just eat the baguette with both those condiments. I also like their pickled carrots/daikons a lot as they help add to the flavor in the sandwich. The service is pretty quick and the interior gives a little homage to Vietnam. There is very little seating inside so I would say this is more of a grab and go type of place. I have not found a bánh mì shop that I like as much as this place just because I am so used to eating from here. I highly recommend coming here! read more

I was searching for a place to get a quick bite and saw Le's had great reviews. So, I stopped in to order the Gỏi Cuốn (summer/vermicelli rolls) and a Bánh Mì Bì (grilled and shredded pork sandwich). When I ordered, the gentleman helping me (I think he may be the owner) was super kind and confirmed that I knew it was shredded pork on the sandwich I ordered. I was imagining shredded pork like pulled BBQ but he told me it would be chewier. I prefer leaner cuts, so he recommended I get the Bánh Mì Thịt Nướng (lemongrass-marinated grilled pork). I ordered to-go and waited inside for my food; the restaurant is on the smaller side but very cute. There are a number of newspaper and magazine articles about Le's on the wall, so that was really cool to see. Unsure if they used to be in the old Asian Corner Mall or not but, as a native Charlottean, seeing their pics in front of it was very nostalgic. There are a few tables but they are very small, like kindergarten class size. Not sure of how easy it would have been to get up and down from those chairs but the few groups sitting down seemed quite comfortable haha. I had a number of errands that day, so I just ate in my car (and forgot to take pics smh) but OMG, the food!!! The summer rolls were delicious; I appreciated how jam-packed and flavor-forward they were. Perfectly paired with their peanut sauce. And the Bánh Mì Thịt Nướng may be the best Bánh Mì I've ever had. I am so happy that Le's reopened. We used to go there quite frequently when it was in the Asian Mall and we lived in NoDa. Their # 6 grilled pork banh mi sandwich spicy style is my favorite banh mi I have ever had! When they close I was really dissatisfied and hoped they would open up again, and they did! The owner took our order and was super kind and talkative as always. Their new location (which is a new building in front of the old Asian Mall as it is being torn down) is kinda funky and quaint. They have the old Asian Mall sign on their wall which was a nice homage to their original location. There are only a few tables but the food comes out quick and you eat it pretty quick. I think most people take their sandwiches to go anyway. I highly recommend stopping by Le's, you wont be disappointed! The BEST Banh mi in NC, hands down. This sandwich shop is a staple and has been around for as long as I can remember. Always wanting to stop for a sandwich if I'm ever traveling to Charlotte (located right outside of NoDa). The best and most authentic ingredients. But as any Southeast Asian knows, it's the bread that makes it....and they hit the mark. Semi hard outside but nice and chewy inside, doesn't brittle like most other bread. Great spot worth making an effort to seek out. I finally got down there to try the roast pork belly they've introduced recently. It's available in banh mi fork or by the pound. I got the banh mi. Absolutely incredible. Have had the grilled pork previously and that is awesome, too. First the food, because when I was reading the ratings that's what I wanted to know about first. They have 12 different sandwich options. I tried 2 of them #6 and #12, a roast pork and pork belly option. The French bread was crunchy and flaky, the veggies generous and really fresh. I'm Latina so I know my cilantro and this cilantro was crunchy and fresh! The meat, well seasoned and the balance of ingredients in the sandwich was perfect, nothing overpowered--a harmony of yumminess! I also appreciated that the sandwich itself is really long, like a Parisian demi-baguette. I remarked on this and the owner said his parents asks their baker to custom make them so that their not the hoagie size you get elsewhere. It makes a difference! My sandwiches cost $7.25 and $8.25. I love Banh Mi and I've had it in NYC, Boston, Philly and Atlanta pretty regularly--these are the best I've had in Charlotte, and as yummy as back home. I also got the Vietnamese iced coffee and on a sunny spring day like today, it felt sweet and refreshing. Finished off that coffee, reading a book at Camp Northend. The space is really welcoming. It's gram-worthy, trendy and cozy at the same time. Four tables if you're like me and want a couple bites as soon as it's made because you can't wait the 10min drive to your picnic spot. We got the #1 Le's Combination, #6 Grilled Pork, and #8 BBQ Pork. I also tried a bite of my friend's #2 Grilled Chicken. They were all great. I would say the best classic banh mi in Charlotte. In order, my favorites were: #1, #2, #6 , #8. I really enjoyed how fresh the cold cuts were in the #1. The jalepeño seeds give them a nice kick too. As far as price goes, they're all less than $5. Our three sandwiches were $14 which included tax. You can't beat that. There's only 3 tables in the restaurant that seat 2 people each. Hidden away in the Asian Corner Mall. This place has been here for years. You might get a flat tire just by navigating through the parking lot full of potholes. Aside from that the banh mi here are decent. They're healthy and yummy. I like their bread because it's soft and nice. Banh mi are usually a great snack for me. I do not know how anyone would be full off just one, but then again I eat a lot. They usually give a good amount of meat and veggies. They also have plenty of other things like Che (Vietnamese desserts), snacks, and drinks (boba, soy milk, etc). After two years I finally went to Le's this past weekend and the hype is still real. This time I split the #6 pork and #8 bbq pork with my husband. We agreed the #6 was the clear winner. The right balance of crunch and softness. I also got the coconut beach bubble tea which was blended. The boba was a little harder than I would prefer but the tea itself was awesome! It's probably the highlight of this excellent Vietnamese Plaza way up in Northeast Charlotte. It's a little hard to find Le's Sandwiches because it's inside the shopping mall. Go through the entrance next to the Asian supermarket and head towards the food court. It's a little hole in the wall with only a few tables. I ordered the #6 grilled pork bahn mi ($4.50) and a Vietnamese iced coffee to-go. My order totaled less than $9 (cash only btw). The service was fast and the employees were very nice. It's a solid bahn mi. The baguette stayed crispy! The pickled veggies could used more pickling but they were very fresh. The iced coffee was very good but then tasted watered down by the time I got home. I will definitely be back if I'm near NoDa or need to go to the Asian supermarket. Le's reminds me of your hole in the wall (AND PARKING LOT) mom and pop, Vietnamese to-go spot. It's counter service and most importantly CASH ONLY. Just an FYI, that the parking lot has a shit ton of potholes so be cautious navigating it! They have a plethora of banh mi's from dac biet (special) to vegan to BBQ pork (my fav). They have images of each sub and the owner can also explain what goes into each one. You can compare the banh mi to a american style sub, but with way better flavor (I told y'all, if it ain't foreign, it's boring!). Simple and perfect. Try not to be intimidated by the location and the mall that you enter as you find your way to Le's. The food is legit AF. I had a pork bahn mi and a tarro bubble tea, I was in my happy place. The sandwiches are dirt cheap, most are $4.25. Get one for now and one for later if you know good food. The tarro bubble tea was also really good and the tarro flavor is hard to find. The seating is super limited so if it's a date night plan on a picnic.
