Called for a quote to have the bearings packed in my travel trailer. I was transferred to "someone in back", who quoted me $139 per axle---"so right around $300 with tax", I was told. I asked if I could make an appointment for the next day, and was told I could make one online. Good enough! So I did. The form instructed me to drop off by 9 am for a 5 pm pickup. So I dropped it off at 7 am the next day. I called at 4 pm to check on it, and was told that online "appointments" go on the "walk in list", i.e., whenever they can get to it. Hmmm. Okay, well, I didn't need to leave until early afternoon the following day, so I told them that as long as it was finished by noon, I'd be fine. "We'll have it done", I was assured. Fast forward to the next day at 11:30 am. I called again, and was again transferred to the back. I was told my trailer was up next and it would take 90 minutes. I was finally called at 3:06 pm and told it was ready. I ran down and was rung up for over $400. When I questioned that, the gal disappeared to the back for ten minutes and returned with a mechanic who explained that I had been misquoted by over $100. He wanted to know the name of the person I spoke to. I didn't recall, but I put the amount I was quoted in their online form. After consulting his computer, he told me "corporate runs the website, and we can't access it". Huh?!? He ended up giving me a small discount, but still had to pay 20% over the agreed upon price. I paid it, canceled my charge account, and won't return. Les Schwab is (in my experience) pretty good elsewhere. Here in Elko, not so much. Their focus is with the mines, and folks who just need a set of tires or a simple service are an annoyance to them. Steer clear or be sorry! read more

Broken truck during Hunting Season Once i was towed to Elko this store was so very Helpful Kayla could not have been any better she is the best front counter person i have delt with in all the les schwab stores keep her shes worth it. The mechanic that fixed my truc k kept me informed on what was wrong and what he was doing to fix my truck which was nice because i left it with them and came back to Reno while they fixed it and they did a great job. you should be very happy with Kayla and the mechanics great team read more

I came into town during a road trip on a Saturday afternoon with a screw in my front tire. I found Elko had a Les Schwab, and having always had good luck with them I stopped by. Even though the shop was going to close in 2 hours, they got me in, fixed my tire, and had me on my way super fast. I got the same great service here at this location as I have at other Les Schwab locations I've used. Everyone at the store was super friendly too, and made me feel valued. My vehicle was recently in an accident which is already stressful and then I had the displeasure of working with these people. 1st and foremost Danielle was rude and lacked basic understanding of what vehicle owner means. She would not give me information on my vehicle stating she would only talk to my adjuster (but she meant body shop rep). During my review of the NRS codes that is not only rude it's illegal. The code states the garage SHALL provide information to whomever is legally able to obtain the vehicle. Then when I spoke with Brandon the store manager I was told he would not put store policy in writing. (I needed it for insurance). But he would verbally tell the insurance if they called. Cherry on top Danielle told my insurance one thing, Brandon told me another. Now I'll be paying another shop out of pocket. With the google review the shop replied making it sound like the difficulty was with insurance. Zero accountability. I will not be returning to the Elko Les Schwab, I sure do miss Doug. Les Schwab used to be a decent place to go. And I will be telling anyone that will listen how awful this experience has been. read more

Took my car in for a simple oil change. Told me it would be an hour and half to two hours. Three and half hours later the job was finally done. I would give more stars if possible, we were stranded in Eureka, NV Ken went out of his way to figure out a plan to help us and had a guy on his way when the local tire shop called us back to say they had located the tires we needed. Never in a million years would you think you would need two spares but that is what happened to us. This place is pathetic. The business I work for gets the tires here. Oddly enough it seems like we are here every week with tire issues or valve stem issues (even though we paid for new ones, each time). The center tread of the tires rip right off causing the whole thing to blow but when you talk to them it is always the drivers fault. Even after 20 plus tires have all done it within a month of being put on. It's pathetic. It would not surprise me if they are selling recaps as new. I type this as I sit on the highway waiting for their Mobil service for 2+ hours. The tech, Devin, was awesome when he got to me. Had me up and moving again in less then 30 minutes. If I could give zero stars I would. I called shortly after 7:00 am and talked to Dillon. I had some air tube extensions put on my dually at a Les Swab store in Colorado. By the time I got to Elko the rivets holding the extension broke allowing the tube to flop around while driving. Dillon wouldn't even walk out to look at the problem. After waiting two hours finally I got three people looking at my situation with complete bewilderment. The conclusion was that yes it was from poor workmanship from the store in Colorado but the Elko store said they couldn't fix it. They could have fixed but they didn't want to. I have been a loyal customer for over twenty years. This experience has taught me not to use Les Swab ever again. Horrible customer service. read more

I had a flat tire while traveling from Elko to Winnemucca, when I took it into the shop your manager told me it would be several hours. He stated he only had three employees because that's all they could afford. I was truly taken back by this. I have visited many LS stores and never heard this before. I was no a tight schedule so they did get it in early, however they pushed my repaired tire out the door and told me to change it myself. Probably the last time I will go here. Too many bad experiences outweigh the good. This last visit: dropped off two rims to have tires removed and install new ones. This was at 11am. Was told they'd be ready in 2-3 hours. I told them I lived in Eureka and need them done so I would go do some shopping and come back later. 2.5 hours later, I went back only to be told that they were really busy and backed up. I told them that I lived in Eureka and didn't have all day to wait so I would have to make another trip to get them. While traveling home, I got a voice mail saying the tires were ready. THIS WAS AT 4PM!!! Don't tell me 2-3 hours to repair and then it takes 5 hours! My time is valuable and I now have to make a second trip. Get a clue!!! read more

OMG!!! This place is so unreal. Called early in the morning to get tires rotated. Told us it would be an hour and half. First come first service. I literally watched 5 cars come and go while my truck sat in the bay. Then it took them a half an hour just to tighten the lug nuts and put air in the tires.. I waited another 15 minutes just for then to pull it out of the bay. What a waste of time. If you have things to do. DO NOT COME TO THE LES SWAB IN ELKO!! especially if your passing through. They will take care of locals first and leave you others waiting. There is another couple from Montana who have been waiting even longer. This is ridiculous!!!! Remember when Les Schwab used to be your neighborhood one-stop-shop for tires and front-end-related services? Long had our family enjoyed stopping by before taking a trip for a pre-trip safety check. But those days are long gone. For years now, if you call about a pre-trip check or go in they tell you it'll be 3-5 hours (which is difficult when your family only has one car and both you and your spouse work). Over the last 5-7 years, the shop has only gotten busier and busier. But they don't hire additional staff nor expand their operation. They just overbook appointments and keep milking what they can out of their little building. And if you don't need a pre-trip check and actually need a service (balance/rotate, alignment, front-end etc.) it'll take all day to get yours done. If you have a 9 AM appointment, your car won't be in a bay getting worked on until noon at the earliest, and then take hours and hours and hours. I really wish I could leave a positive review about this Les Schwab location, because the staff *are* nice, but in the end niceties just don't outweigh the problems and inconvenience of dealing with this shop. I don't know if it's poorly managed or if they just don't care, but something needs to change. You're best off finding somewhere else for your tire, wheel, and front-end needs. read more

And left me unable to pay the amount owed and get them back in time for work resulting in loss of wages and in trouble with work now. Dropped my truck off at 1045 to have two tires changed and 3 trailer tires changed . called at 330 they said it was done didn't end up getting done till 530 When you charge a premium price you should get premium service in return unfortunately I got terrible service . I made the arrangements to have my tires done almost a month in advance! The only tires they had in that would fit my car were way to expensive even after giving me only a 10% discount. They messed up my lug bolts trying to get me to pay more money, just because I am a woman doesn't mean I don't know a few things about mechanics, Especially when it comes to my car! Cj the manager is rood and very incompetent, use the right tool for the job instead of over Torquing the lug bolts With an impact gun! They went down hill fast! If I could leave zero stars I would. My son's fiance was stranded in Elko with car issues, one of which was a flat tire. Not only did they insist on selling her four new tires, but swore up and down that the leak near the rear of her car was "condensation." It was differential fluid, which does not, under any circumstances, look anything like water. Differential fluid is gear oil. They told her the car was perfectly fine, no issues. Either they're extremely stupid or very obviously lying. I'm sure it was the latter, because they wanted to sell her tires and make their profit, even though they knew it was going to be a waste of money to put 4 new tires on a car with an obviously bad differential unit. Went on a cross country road trip, was unlucky enough to get a nail in my tire. When initially at the store the associate said our wait would be a couple of hours. This convinced me to stay instead of try and find other auto repair shops. After waiting two hours in the parking lot I asked how long until our car would even be looked at and the associate said 3-6 more hours. When it comes to costumer service, the worst thing an employee can do is lie to the costumer, especially in this type of situation. We are now hungry with no resources and stranded in the parking lot. Instead of enjoying a safe, peaceful drive across states during the day, we are now forced to drive in unsafe conditions at night. We are screwed, simply because the associate lied about the wait time. Will not return to Les Schwab again. read more

They said they will look but are not going to do anything to fix the problem or help us. Just pathetic. Many firefighters pass from car accidents to and from their destination year round. Worst service I've ever experienced! Second time I went to LS. Both times they where over an hour of their estimate to "start" work on my truck. Oil change and tire rotation is not complicated, nor is estimating time line. 4 hours for new tire install! Oil change and tire rotation, should be an in and out with an appointment! After a one hour wait I gave up! Go to walmart, much cheaper and at least they tell you be prepared for a wait! Laugh but the counter guy said "sorry" I agree, can't get much worse! read more

I went in to see about a lift kit and wheels and tires for my 2014 F-150, I wanted a 2-4" lift kit but with the help of one of the lead mechanics I went with a leveling kit instead. Amelia helped me pick out a set of rims with a 60,000 mile set of tires for them. Gabe's team did a fantastic job of helping me chose what I needed for my new truck. I have been a loyal customer to Les Swab tire's for many years. That being said I can no longer support what they do, They used to be the best place in town to get tire's or anything else you needed to have done to you're vehicle. Now there one of the worst place's you can go to in town to get you're car road ready. They take too long to even talk to you and will fight you every step of the way to even get a basic thing like brakes done. They Nearly got me killed once when I took my 2003 Volkswagen Passat in to them for some new Toyo Performance plus tire's that where made for my car, I also asked them to install new control arms which was need to do the alignment (needed to not bend the Sub Frame). I had to fight tooth and nail to just get the tire's I wanted, took 2 weeks to get them. When I whent to pick up my car and to my amazement they installed the wrong tire. The one's they installed was made for an Eco car with a smaller non-turbo powered engine. I had to fight a good 2 hours to have them removed and to get the correct one ordered. They wanted me to still pay for the other tires They failed in this aspect since it was there mistake in the 1st place. Took them another 2 weeks to get the correct tire's, I later found out after a good death wobble at 40MPH that they did not replace the control arms and some how seized the tie-rods on. I ended up having them look at it they said nothing was wrong and re-did the alignment (without me giving them the "OK"), Al-tho this did helped until I took it to highway speeds (60-75MPH), The death wobble got much worse. I lost control of the car and it took some special driving to regain control. At the point I ended up having to contact the dealership which got a local mechanic to check the Sub Frame which I was lucky it was fine (would have been totaled by the insurance since it would of cost $15,000 to replace), He found numerous damaged parts from the alignment and replaced those items along with the control arms. This pretty much multiple my cost just to have some basic maintenance work done and almost ended up almost costing me my life. I had to fight with them to even get an apology, I did not ask for a refund. Just a basic "I am sorry and we won't do it again" sadly that would never happen. I still have issue's with this car to this day since I can not afford to get it all fixed at once. Over all after this, I still stayed with them a bit longer. Keeped having major issue's every time I went there something else would go horrifically wrong. I was considering giving them one more redeeming chance and was going to buy some new tire's for my dad's jeep, found out they refuse to even carry/order Toyos Tire's and where recommending there own brand for both the jeep and my truck. They even said there tire's world work on my truck which weighs in at over 4-tons, That was a big no a 6ply tire would never even hold the truck up with out popping after a while. A 10ply was a minimum which they would have to order and would not even fit the front end of the truck with out some major modification. I ended up looking into them for the jeep to get him by for a while, there not even worth the price tag they are selling them for when you can pick up the best of the best Toyo for nearly half the price! After the nightmare I went though the last few years with them I hate to say I am no longer a customer of there's. They refuse to do the work you paid for, if they do they wont do it right and it would end up costing you more money or you're life. Best to go to another tire shop and spare you're self the needless headache. read more

I think they just filled up the tire with air to get me out of there since it was almost closing time. They could have told me that instead of making me blindly believe they had fixed it. Just got 2 new tires put on and asked them to check and see if an alignment was needed. I understood that they will check for free. They never checked to see if the alignment was good or bad, but instead told me that it was not done because of all the work needed! Not sure why you cant check to see if its on or off! I'm sure replacing all the shocks and struts would be a good thing, but I only asked if they could check it and let me know! They are focused on the money and not the customer, I was disappointed in the overall experience. I can buy tires anywhere, but asked for a simple check and got an excuse not to do it. read more

Purchased a car in California and blew out a tire in Battle Mountain while driving home to Colorado. Limped the car the 70 miles to Elko on a 50-mph-limited donut spare and arrived at Les Schwab 12 minutes before their closing time. They had the correct tire size in stock and stayed 45 minutes late to mount my tire and get me on my way. Can't thank them enough for going the extra mile to help me out when I would have been stuck in Nevada overnight otherwise. read more
