I brought my 2008 Highlander in for an alignment just a week after a flawless pre-purchase inspection with no lights on on the dash. The alignment took 3 hours, and when I got the car back ~5 different lights were on on the dash (VSC, ABS, Brake, Traction control). Les Schwab denies any responsibility, despite the fact that they are the only ones that touched it. Now I have a $3k+ repair to deal with. Les Schwab won't help out at all. Helpful, Always there in an emergency, fantastic service; Les Schwab is always customer oriented! Desperately needing to get out of the house, and Portland, after four months of COVID-19 quarantine, headed out to Hood River on our first sunny, 80 degree day. About 10 miles from Hood River my "smart" vehicle started beeping loudly, flashing a message to pull over and get assistance because tire pressure was low. While I've had messages like this before if the tire pressure goes 2 points low, it has never beeped and flashed non stop for 30 minutes! It was alarming. After calling the service department for my vehicle, and being told I wasn't in imminent danger, I continued to Hood River to find a gas station with an air pump. After two failed attempts to locate, we saw Les Schwab and I knew instantly they would help. We entered the office, everyone was wearing masks, they were enforcing social distancing and all state guidelines. The receptionist told me to pull my car up and said one of the workers would be over to check my tires and adjust the pressure. Within minutes, Mario appeared, checked the door panel for appropriate pressure, and filled all four tires. Took less than a minute and we were back on the road, annoying beeping sound gone, and we felt safer knowing our tires were at the appropriate pressure levels. No charge for the air! I came in on Wednesday morning to get my tires checked for a leak. Been a customer for decades. I was told it would take up to 30 minutes. Very decent. 30 minutes later no one had touched my car. I asked for an update meanwhile all of these staff dudes were standing around talking. There was 1 customer ahead of me and about 10 stalls with 3 cars on the jacks. I was told the mechanics were unpacking boxes of a shipment so it would be up to an hour and they could text. I l agreed and decided to go somewhere else. 3 hours later I got a text from them ready to check my tires. Never ever have I hac service like this at Les Schwab. read more

I have been buying Les Schwab tires and services since my first car 45 years ago. That's a lot of tires, lots of money spent. In the last ten years I have had more bad experiences than good. From warranty denial, not because of miles driven but because "that tire is not in our system anymore" (ie, too old). They still looked new but had tread separation. I have three vehicles and twice a year I get in for seasonal changeover. I was in line before the store opened, dropped off car one and put the other two in rotation. That means when car is done I drop off car two, then car three. Used to work like a charm. The last few times there has always been something. Today I finally called to find even though a work order was "entered" no ticket was put on the board. It's closing time, I got first car home, got a ride back and am waiting on car two. It will be another day of inconvenience to get car three done. I am so disappointed in the inability to deliver the service they used to provide I do not recommend Les Schwab. read more

I've been an LS customer for 25 years with 15+ trailers and vehicles sent there for tires, brakes, bearings, etc.. The Portland locations have always been consistently great with regards to customer service and doing the job correctly. Unfortunately, having moved to the Gorge, over the past 4 years we've found the Hood River Les Schwab to be the worst of the bunch. Lousy, surly service, no masks during COVID mask mandates, mistakes on work performed. Let's just say this isn't a LS where anyone runs out to meet you with a smile. There is a reason they're average rating is a paltry 3 stars. Customer Service here is lousy, and it's a wonder LS hasn't replaced management to clean up this store. Were it not the only local LS, I certainly wouldn't shop here. I still often find myself going to the LS near my office in Portland in order to avoid the Hood River store. read more

With a lot of research behind the scenes on his end, he helped figure out exactly the right negative offset on Fuel wheels along with exactly the right A/T tire to not only balance road performance we need in PNW but as important to my wife, the lowest road noise you can get from an all-terrain tire. Nailed it! With the right lift and wider tire stance I was looking for, he even helped set up a Borla exhaust to complete an amazing upgrade experience we could not be happier with. Twice now Les Schwab has told me that I need costly and immediate repairs on my car when in reality I did not. The first time they told me I needed to replace a wheel, but when I brought it back for replacement, the mechanic said my wheel was fine. This second time, they told me I needed to replace my rear brakes due to uneven wear; they said it was not safe for me to drive out of town. They were booked out 2 weeks, so I went to a different, highly recommended mechanic, who checked all my brakes and said they were fine, wearing evenly and with 80-90% life left in them. I have had terrible with Les Schwad locations across America. The Hood River location is no better. They took advantage of my girlfriend and sold her a crappy set of tires. They go flat ever few weeks always a different tire. I would just roll the dice and deal with another tire business. Also we have tried multiple times to Schedule tire maintenance on the vehicle and they will never let us set an appointment. My girlfriend and I both have jobs full-time and we don't have time to deal with sitting around waiting for our tires to get work done whenever they have time. Other Les Schwabs are pretty good. This one is one of the worst. Customer service is poor, prices are high, and they have nothing in stock - ever. Most recently my wife ordered a pair of snow tires for our new Toyota. Les Schwab of course didn't have them and had to order them. The appointment for their arrival and install was made for over a week later. When I arrived at the scheduled appointment time, the woman at the counter said the tires had not arrived?! No phone call, no heads-up. My wife made a 1:00 pm appointment, which I scheduled my whole day around. I opted not to take my daughter to the pool on this day because of this appointment! A courtesy phone call would have made all the difference. (My theory is that they sold our tires out from under us to someone else.) Anyway, the employee had no fickin' idea where the tires were or if they would ever get them in, despite ordering them a week prior. Funny how they couldn't tell us that at the time they were ordered. She tried to sell me a larger tire than what the factory had installed. I wasn't interested. Had a slow leak in a tire so I decided to run into Hood River Les Schwabs right when they opened to get it repaired. when I got there it appeared that nobody was in the office so I started to walk around to see if I could find somebody, when a lady who was sitting below the front counter off in a side office stood up and ask if i needed help. I explained the situation and she said she could get me in and if I would like to wait. I asked about how long and she said about an hour, so I waited. from where I was seated my car was right within my line of sight. so I could tell when they would get to my car to work on it. within 30 minutes another customer came in with a battery he wanted checked. he could t find anybody to help him, because the lady was seated back in the side office again. she finally gets up and gets his information. she asks if he wanted to wait and he also asked how long. she said an hour to an hour in a half. so the guy left his battery right there in the lobby and said he would be back in that time and he left. so an hour goes by I can see my car is still parked right where I left it. so I get up and ask about how much longer she thought it would be. she responded with it should be really close. so I sat back down. pretty soon the guy with the battery came in. The girl, once again tucked away in the office comes out and he asks what they found out about his battery. she responds let me find out. she calls in the radio to service department and asks about the battery. at that point I could see that the battery the guy left behind has not been touched because it was still sitting right where he had left it. the service department responded to the radio call with " we are about to check it now". that's when the front desk lady responded with the battery is up here in the lobby. at this point I figure I would go see how flat my tire is, so I go out to my car. on my way back in one of the les Schwab guys come around the corner with a customers car and nearly drives right into me. he revs the engine at me like he was annoyed I was there and then parked the car and gave me a shitty look. He didn't say anything like excuse me, it was obvious he was annoyed. I walk back into the lobby and the service guy finally arrives to put a battery checker on the old man's battery after 2 hours of it sitting there. now I've been there for over two hours and I finally ask what the realistic time frame for me to get my tire checked out would be. she calls the service guys and says when they can get me in and says the guy has been here a long time and he is pissed. I was a little taken back by that because I thought I had had some pretty good patience at this point. In fact her saying that bothered me a little. Anyway, the service guy said I was next. Another half hour expires and I finally get up because I had to get ready to leave for a scheduled event when I see that the service department had gotten to my car. so figured any moment now. 45 minutes later I finally get to pay for my visit and get my car back. there was no apologies for the wait nothing. they gave me a bill for 40 dollars. I paid it and left. I checked my email a little while later and noticed an email from les Schwab about my service. In the email it details how they offer free tire repair with les Schwab tires, which the tires I had on it were, and they charged me 40 dollars anyway. Overall the customer service is terrible! it is disorganized, there were several lies blatantly told to myself and to other customers when asked about progress on their cars. nobody smiled, greeted, or thanked anybody. it is a far cry from the service that the les Schwab in The Dalles offers. save your time and go somewhere else. the les Schwab In Hood River is a toxic sad environment. the people just all seem to hate their lives there and they take it out in the customers. read more

This place has really gone downhill. Sad. I have an old farm truck that I wanted to get road worth again. It had some issues with the brakes, the most troubling was that one of the rotors was wearing unevenly. I made an appointment online to have my brakes checked and explained the issues, including a brake light that wouldn't turn off. I tried to catch the technician while he had the truck in the bay to get his thoughts. But before I could blink he had the wheels back on and drive it out to the parking area. He explained he couldn't do anything with the brakes until I agreed to buy a new set off tires. Admittedly the tires needed replacing. I told his I'd at least like to know his assessment of the brakes before I poured a bunch of money into it. He told me he couldn't even look at the brakes until I bought tires. They only had Les Schwab branded tires available in my size. No national brands. He handed me my keys and the tire quote, "You're good to go!" Lazy. Profits before public safety. It was then that I recalled that the last time I came in there was for an alignment. When I picked the car up, I noticed they hadn't rotated my tires as I had asked. "It's only been a few months, you don't really need it." Nevermind the 6000 was was long past. According to the red numbers on the computer printout the alignment wasn't within tolerances. I pointed that out. "It's close enough. That number doesn't really matter." Newer Subaru shouldn't be that hard to align. Just do your job people. read more

I've had some pretty bad Les Schwab expierences from multiple locations throughout WA and CA, but this location really did a good job for me. I had a new to me car that had run flat tires (never had them before) and was driving from Vancouver WA to South of the Dalles. Just after Bridge of the God's my tires lights went nuts so I pulled in to the closest tire shop and ended up here. The front desk told me I should be fine and it was a pressure thing, but since I was going somewhere without cell service I wanted it checked out. Mas came out and helped me, checking the tires out and topping off air in one. He was very kind and helpful, and also understanding of my two dogs who were going a little nuts in the backseat. Would recommend this specific Les Schwab and especially if Mas is the one to help you. read more

Had a flat tire on the way back from cooper spur. We called them in hopes to get the flat fixed before driving back to Portland. They let us know that if we got there before the locked up we should be good. Pulled up at 4:59 and saw them outside. They watched us pull in and immediately ran I swore and locked the doors. It's understandable that they did not want to stay late but it would've taken 20 minutes max to help us. Spoke to one of the techs and they said strait you our face that all the mechanics had left. I've been a Les schwab customer for years, though I have explored various options for my tire needs including Costco and car dealerships. The service at Les Schwab has always been outstanding. The tires are generally of good quality at decent prices. No complaint there. I picked up a nail this am and dropped in for a service. I was disappointed and annoyed to see that they were playing the 700 club on the tv. As a customer, sitting in the waiting area being forced to listen to this pro-Christian, biased, dishonest, and blatantly political programming. As a private business, LS certainly has the right to promote this agenda, however please realize that not all of your customers buy into this, nor do we support overt and dishonest religious indoctrination. They could have not bickered like children in front of us and made involved in it the peddiness. They could have been professional, which they were not! Plus, did not ask them to repair wiring. Did not ask them to so muffler repair. What we asked was to have the clamp loosened so we could fit it back in if they were not able. We knew nothing of the all the wires hanging down. That is the point here! We could have tied them up and drag them hundreds of miles had we been told! As far as the things you do, alignment, brakes etc. Those should be done by technicians not someone whose last job is not technically level to the skill. I was heading from Vancouver WA to Lake Chelan for the long weekend on Friday when I had two tires delaminate on my boat trailer. I was able to get one spare on, but had stripped a bolt on the other tire and needed help. I called les schwab and asked if they would stay open a little late as I had to limp there and I desperately needed tires. It was about 5:15 and I was told no "it's been a long hot day". I showed up 20 minutes passed closing time and all lights were off, all cars gone, and obviously nobody had waited. I ended up in the parking lot of the auto parts store trying to get the stripped bolt off until near dark. Luckily a kind stranger stepped in and helped me by letting me go to their house to use their tools to get the bolt off. I left hood river in the dark with three wheels on a boat trailer. Thankful I made it, and the Schwab's in Chelan was amazing. read more

I am excited about writing this review for Les Schwab. They are such an incredible company. I have always been awed at their commitment to customer service. It is clear that it is emphasized and well trained to every person in the company. It reflects on the standards their founder must have envisioned. Nice to see it continues to live on. I was 3 hours into a 6+ hour road trip, traveling with a disabled child when all of the warning lights came on in my Honda. Acceleration started to die. I was about to be stuck. It was 6:00 in the evening. I saw a Les Schwab just off the highway and headed for it. I had no idea where I was or how I was going to get back on the road. Les Schwab does tires, not automotive repair. But I know their commitment to community and service. I pulled into the lot and my car simply died there. Six o'clock. They were closing. But Mark came out to see what was wrong. He got in and attempted to get me running. Told me it wasn't work they do...but gathered around to do what they could. Ultimately, they connected me with a trusted mechanic in town. Using Mark's name, they mechanic prioritized me and when to work on my car. My alternator was done, which means my battery was done. Mark and his team moved my car around to be safely out of the way. They offered me a ride to wherever it was I needed to go. They were reluctant to leave me there alone. They were worried about me. Do you have any idea how good it is to have capable people worried about you when you are stranded like that? It felt good. The next morning, Mark already had a new battery in my car in hopes it would start and get me to the mechanic. It did. I was back on the road safe and sound with nothing but good feelings and memories for our time in Hood River. I felt protected and taken care of. Les Schwab would be proud of Mark and his team. It is almost impossible for me to do business with the Les Schwab in Hood River anymore because they now require appointments and their appointment calendar is scheduled out for weeks in advance. I work on call and tried to get in and was told they could take me in 3 hours, but at this point after waiting an additional 2.5 hours I still have not been able to get service yet. I have had much better luck in the past with the Les Schwab in the Dalles, OR which has been more attentive to my needs and likely the store I will return to in the future. read more

Les Schwab has the advantage of having tire centers 'everywhere' and offering free services on tires you buy there. We had a very negative experience there when my husband was told he could not purchase a better grade of tire for his Ford Transit Van. The fact is Les Schwab does not carry those tires. But the tires are available. This is unethical. I understand that Les Schwab is now promoting their own brand of tires and certain other brands. Giving misinformation to customers will not earn them any business but it will give Les Schwab a bad reputation. read more
