The last few years though... I don't know if the business changed hands and has new ownership, but it feels like it. The friendly, helpful pool guy we used to have was replaced by someone who's primary goal was, seemingly, to get in and out of there as quickly as possible. Corners were being cut and the level of service was falling, while the cost kept rising. Many times I wasn't sure that the guy had even come that week - there was no evidence of him having been there. I called the office about it and was told to call the service tech. I did and tried to have a conversation about what seemed to be happening. He immediately got very defensive and refused to speak to me. His boss got on the phone and started arguing with me about how they were actually doing the level of service they promised, despite the obvious reality. This animosity died down eventually and they continued to maintain our pool, and were actually doing a better job. The pool almost always looked pretty good despite the short weekly visits. The prices kept going up though, eventually reaching $160/mo for short, 10-minute weekly visits. They complained about the number of trees surrounding the pool but still managed to be in and out in under 15 minutes every time no matter what. Just this week we found a note on the door saying that Holiday Pools is breaking up with us as of the end of the month. No reason, just "call the owner if you have questions." I'm not going to bother. It's time for us to move on as well. Too bad... a great old Chico business slowly pricing and complaining itself out of existence.

    From start to finish this is pretty much seamless. However there are some hiccups. Conversations…read morethat were said to have had had not been had, plans that were altered not added to the plan , which resulted in surprise bills invoices sent to the wrong party for things that weren't ordered but necessary I.e shot crete after rain. Poor communication which was somewhat rectified but is now a farce unless you contact a supervisor directly. Don't get me wrong. My pool looks amazing. There are some things that anger me greatly about the subcontractors that were there that I've discussed with management and hopefully that's fixed. It's just some of that stuff can be tweaked and fixed before it becomes an issue And I understand they do a shit ton of pools throughout the year, but every customer should be A number one, not just the next customer. And this should carry on through service for the at least the first month of free service that's offered for a new pool. People that need recognition are Chris Russo, Jimmy Havens and his crew Jonny and Kyle, even with the bird mishap and Aaron the plumber.

When I brought this up, I was responded to with a sense of arrogance and entitlement stating all his other clients are aware of this. Well just because your other clients do it doesn't mean I am going to essentially tip you 1/2 of what you normally charge.. especially since this was only the second month you were "servicing" our pool and the first time you charged us a month rate for a single visit. I understand a short notice or "emergency" rate hike but you were seriously taking advantage and acting like I owed you. You used my purchased chemicals and left me to shut off water etc. Find yourself someone else to take advantage of.

Having service for six months, I was extremely disappointed in the level of effort given to my pool. In the six months he was maintaining my pool, I was billed a thousand dollars to get my pool and spa healthy. His service was to include weekly filter inspections and scrubbing of algae. I was billed for "hyper-chlorination" treatments and other services that did not happen. Suspecting neglect, I had another pool service come out and check his work. They found my filters to be ruined from lack of cleaning, and the chlorine levels in the pool to be zero. His response was "I understand if you want to get service elsewhere". The only consistency I received from Murphy was a bill.
