I have been using another location and have increasingly grown disappointed with their knowledge and service. Went into the Paramus location in early July and have been nothing short of Impressed. Frank Kaiser, the manager has helped me many times since I first ventured into the Paramus location. Most recently, he repaired my Polaris 360, that my, soon to be former pool Service company, disassembled and told be that this five year old unit could not be fixed. They offered me a new model for $800. I took this disassembled mess to Frank I expected an honest assessment of the repair or replacement of the vacuum The result, $32.00. If Frank managed a restaurant I would eat there everyday. Not all Leslie stores run the same. This is the place to go Btw. The staff is just as helpful. They have a good relationship with their clients and with Frank. read more

Beware!!! Do not use them for installations. I purchased a heater. The whole process was a nightmare. First of all, I LOVE!!! the people at the Ramsey NJ Store. Jim, Sherry and the rest of the staff are super friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. Leslie's installation management is the complete opposite. Leslie's initially shipped me a pool filter instead of a heater. They refused to ship the replacement heater till they picked up the filter, which wasted a whole week. At installation time, the installer told me I had to arrange for an electrician since he was not licensed. He also was not licensed for gas installations. That was obvious since he did not know what a debris trap is or how to plumb it. I had to tell him how to properly connect the gas line. Mind you, I am the homeowner and knew more than he did about the uniformed construction codes for plumbing. Granted, the installation people who showed up were not at fault. They were as helpful, friendly, and accommodating as possible given the situation. The only reason I knew they were not licensed was because I asked for their license when it was clear there were problems with their knowledge. Each time I go to Leslie's store in Pequannock, New Jersey, it's always something that is not a good customer service. For example, a young gentleman at the store would not take people in order of those waiting online. He seemed to pick people he knew first while allowing others who were standing in line to go get service afterwards. Additionally, when it came time to taking my order, the gentleman failed to complete the transaction stating he needed my full name address telephone number and email address before he can get my water tested. What kind of policy is that? I thought he was going to then ask for my Social Security number and blood type. Poor policy, poor customer service, stay away from this company. Frank the store manager is condescending rude & arrogant. he told me I have a major problem with my water. obviously he knows nothing. I sent a copy of the sheet he gave me & he told me don't ever go to Leslie's to have your water tested. they just want to sell chemicals. I think he thought I was a gullible woman. I won't even go back there to buy anything. read more

Frank the store manager is a rude, arrogant jerk. I was in the market for a new pump. I was considering upgrading to 1 1/2 hp but didn't know if it was worth it, would I have to change all my hoses? Will the extra hp get better return on my water output? So I asked Frank what the difference between the 2 pumps would be, his response was "HALF A HORSE POWER" What a condescending jerk! He Ignores customers while he carries on personal conversations. Knows very little about water chemistry, always has to order common replacement parts, seems to never have common parts in stock. Go to JOE ORDINI'S a mile away, friendly, knowledgeable staff, GABBY is a wealth of knowledge, always fully stocked, better prices and 1/2 the sales tax and happy to answer your questions without being a jerk. The girl behind the counter was pleasant enough but the other girl (possibly manager) was just miserable and wasn't looking to help at all. probably the worst service I have ever seen anywhere, IN particular the Oakland NJ store. For almost every purchase I made there, they gave me the wrong item, causing me to have to return it. Total lack of knowledge, the manager could care less about service and is totally unprofessional. I would strongly encourage people not to shop at the Oakland store. Paramus, NJ. What a disappointment! When the summer season opened I called Leslie's 800 number waited on the line for more than 45 minutes and asked for someone to come look at my pump and D.E. Filter. Due to how busy they were it took two weeks, and I was charged a significant service fee for them to visit my house and tell me I needed a new pump. We asked the servicemen to order it. Two weeks later when I called about the status, no one had any idea about what kind of pump I needed, but they did have a record of the charge to my credit card. Long story, short after more than 12 phone calls (many with long waits), multiple e-mails and 2 visits to the store because I was told on the 800 number that the store handled these, and the store kept telling me the 800 number handled service, the pump finally was installed. Mike the manager apologized and asked for a second chance gave me a discount to be used in the future, so a few weeks later when the DE filter started shooting water I went back and ordered the filter and paid for installation that was to take about 7-10 days to get done. Three weeks later and multiple phone calls I went to the store again and asked "where is the filter". The answer was the "manufacturer" is behind and not answering phone calls and that they have no idea when the new filter might arrive. We told him we found one available on Amazon (even though we prefer to buy "local") for less money even after the discount that was available immediately. We asked for a refund of the filter, were told to call the 800 number when it arrived and it would be installed. Now a month later I'm being told we don't install products not purchased from Leslie's. I asked why didn't you tell me that at the time you refunded the filter and give me my $800+ back at the time, and was told they "made a mistake" and they didn't know we wanted them to install it. I am so beyond frustrated that I am writing this review to let you know not to trust Mike the manager or his word, because all you will get is his "understanding" of your frustration and no follow up or service! I found the staff at Leslie Pool Supplies in Paramus extremely helpful and knowledgeable. I was having issues with my hot tub, and they were able to recommend the correct chemicals and supplies to remedy the problems! Mike was great, talked me through what I needed to do, and helped me choose the necessary items. I've been to other supply stores and they all seem clueless, and just point and say "over there". I was looking to get a vacuum for my pool so I drove to the rt46 location. There Matthew showed me a useful vacuum that would be perfect. Matthew was very helpful. They didn't have in stock but the computer said they had 3 in Paramus. He told me to go there. I asked him to kindly call the store on rt17 to verify that they were actually in stock. He politely called the rt17 store and they said they had 3 and would hold one for me. So I drove over fighting traffic but knowing it's worth it because they verified everything. I get to the rt17 store and guess what??? They don't actually have any in stock. They never updated the computer. And no one got off the lazy butt at the store to make sure they had them like they said they did. Liars and poor employees at the rt17 store. Good job Frank! Way to manage. I went into the store today 7/17/17 @ 11:45 am, to pick up a few bottles of liquid shock. There was no one in the store but the three employees.. so I asked where the liquid shock was, they showed me and I had asked a question In regards to the shock. The 2 employees did not know, so they asked their "manager," who was sitting on something in the boxed area where you pay and do your water samples. I reiterated what I was saying and she stayed sitting, phone in her hand (like she was the whole time I was speaking to the other employees) watching pictures on social media and didn't even have the common courtesy to stand, put her phone away look me in the face and speak. Instead, she answered my question annoyed while staring @ her phone the whole time.. the other two employees saw my face and one helped me walk one of the two boxes of shock to my car, and I asked if that was her manager and she stated yes... I have been going to Leslie's Pool Supplies in Paramus for several years, and yes I have put up with Frank's rude behavior for years, but no longer. I had algea in my pool this year, and for three and a half weeks Frank and his group of young adults kept telling me to shock my pool, use algecide, and vacuum to waste. I had my water tested by them twice a week while pouring chemicals and money in to my pool. The pool never cleared, and we lost most of the June swimming season. On Friday last, I went to the POOL Company in Rivervale. Nicole helped my wife and I. She tested our water, gave me a pound of shock and an algicide. She was very pleasant and seemed very knowledgeable. We went home, put the two chemicals into our pool and in two hours, "2 HOURS", my pool was crystal clear. For three and a half weeks I brushed vacuumed and poured chemicals into our pooI. It two hours The Pool Company cleared our pool We will never return to Leslie Pool and encourage pool owners to do the same. read more
