I recently had to help my 83 year old mother with her pool. She has some pretty shaky legs and was actually sweeping the pool, this scared the heck out of me! I had a bad start with my initial interaction with Leslie's pool supply and reached out to Chris (GM) of the Pleasanton CA store. Chris got me in touch with Maria and my experience with her was nothing short of amazing! Maria is a true example of customer service. Any issues I had were taken with care and understanding and made me feel like I was truly important. After many attempts of me trying to get a pool sweep working on my moms pool I said that I needed assistance. I found myself in need of replacing an undersized, aging and leaking filter not to mention an eclectic piping situation that has accumulated over the past 30 years. So I headed over to Leslie's to see Maria who has always been a great resource for my pool concerns. True to form she guided me through the process to select a suitable solution to my filter issues. Not one to stop with "making the sale" she then arranged to have the installer take care of that piece of the process. Rudy arrived on schedule to make the install. Very professional, he did an outstanding job of repiping my entire system, installing new valves and filter. Things are running much better now and I don't have to deal with the leaking pipes especially considering the drought conditions we are currently having. Beware! We had been depending on leslie pools to test our water. We have a new saltwater system. I spent hours learning about the chemical levels. Its not that complicated once you read a bit. Leslie's test results recomend how much salt and other chemicals to add. After chasing the never ending proper balance we suspected our new salt water system was faulty. Hayward sent out a factory rep! He tested our water and equipment. We learned that leslie's pools equipment isn't calibrated properly. He told us they are in the business to sell chemicals. Leslie pools had our chemical pond over dosed on most of their recommendations. We also learned that the amazon test strips are the most accurate and the salt strip are right on. When telling leslie's about this. They were frustrated and said dont use them! Be careful trusting leslie pools. Once you get into their chemical circle you cant get back out. We decided to drain the pool and start over. Adding 1 third the chemicals with an amazing result. Shame on leslie pools and shame on their store manager for not caring. I don't mind over paying for chemicals because they offered the service. But the service isnt accurate. read more

We are pool owners in Pleasanton and have been to this location of Leslie's Pools many times. Maria, the manager there is outstanding. We have worked with her on several occasions including ensuring that our water chemicals were optimally balanced, fixing a broken pool cleaner and also replacing a booster pump. Maria was extremely helpful. The service was outstanding! I am not super handy and Maria was able to walk me through being able to remove my old booster pump and installing the new one. For the pool cleaner she also helped us diagnosis various issues to get our cleaner running well again! We highly recommend working with this store for all your pool needs! read more

OMG.. talk about bad customer phone courtesy and service by the two female staff...... i called to check on a part number on a filter cartridge, to make sure in stock before i went to the store. 1st call - put on hold instantly and no one came back 2nd call - " leslies, please hold", after 5 minutes... " click!" ( hung up on me) 3nd call - answered phone, gave the female clerk ( Ms "T") the part number ( 6 digits) - had to repeat 4-5 times because she was not writing it down, put on hold, never came back - was on hold for more than 15 minutes. 4th call, a different female clerk - gave part number, repeating about 3-4 times,must be a shortage of pen and paper, put on hold - as of now, 19 minutes and 45 seconds on hold. I'm a new pool owner, and Maria really went the extra mile to get the pool inspected and started up. She introduced me to folks who have helped out with other items around the backyard. She was responsive, on top of it, and helped get me service quickly. Then, Rudy came out to diagnose a broken pool light and heater showing a service light. Rudy is the man - super knowledgeable, educated me on some of the specifics of my pump and heater, solved the problem in just minutes, and then also fixed some bad wiring that was causing the pool light not to work! Only to wait another 10 minutes again listening to them not help me but talk to other in the background. Wouldn't take a return of tabs I bought the prior day despite posted policy that says: "chemical returns must be in their original unopened packaging...we cannot accept returns on the following chemicals Muriatic acid, chlorinating liquid or cal-hypo" i.e. tabs were not excepted. Clerk just said the system wouldn't accept it, called manager who said "can't do it". either update your policy or adhere to it. last time I buy here. read more

You will wait forever if you go on a weekend as there is one person and no one else to help. Prices are not cheap. And you would expect that the customer would not have to wait 20-30 mins each time, but that is not the case. While its a good place to buy from, god forbid you return something. They are friendly as long as you buy, miserable if you return something. I was spending hundreds each month and went to return a $7 item. I was given so much shit for returning it I will never be back at that store. AVOID!!! Go to another store or location. Home Depot or Wal-Mart is better to deal with. read more

Lousy customer service, untrained staff. They don't even have their current add in the store in case you have a question. When a customer is waiting to be checked out, staff should not answer the phone and help that customer. They should ask them to hold. Make sure you don't ask a question to another staff member, because the reply will be that they are not on the clock! read more

I shopped around and the store manager, Maria, was able to give me a very fair price for the total purchase. In addition, her follow up was unparalleled due to the fact that since this is a new product there were some hiccups. She went above and beyond to deal with issues. The installation was amazing. My installer's name is Darren and he was extremely thorough and patient with me as I watched him do the whole thing from start to finish. He was amazing. June 2019 -- We just replaced our pool pump, filter and intelligence system through Leslie's. I can't say enough about how great Maria and Darren have been. They went the extra mile to find a package deal that saved us more than a thousand dollars compared to a quote we got from another local pool company and the system they installed for us is better than what the other company included in their quote. The other company also told us we could not get an intelligent system that would let us control our system, water features, pool lights etc and would allow remote viewing of current salt level and adjustment of chlorine generator (same things our 11+ yr old system system could do). With the quoted system we could do most of the control stuff but to see the salt level or adjust the chlorine generator we would need to physically go out to the unit. With Leslie's it was no problem - we could have it all and as I mentioned earlier for more than a thousand dollars less! I just have to add that Maria and Darren's positive attitudes and knowledgeable professionalism made us feel comfortable and confident through the entire process. Super happy with our new system and can't wait to see our energy savings too! Summer 2018 -- When our pool sweep needed to be replaced after ~11 yrs we first did our homework, researching on manufacturers web site and on Amazon. We had a reasonable understanding of models and prices. We went to Pooltime, but they were unexpectedly closed (again). We almost didn't go to Leslie's on Santa Rita because it only had 3 stars on yelp (less than other stores in Pleasanton, Dublin, Livermore area). We are so glad we gave them a try. Kim and Maria were absolutely fantastic. They gave us the best customer service we've had anywhere in a long time! They took the time to understand our wants and needs. Then they helped us understand the pros and cons of the models including reliability and cost of repairs - things like cost of replacing parts that will ware out over time like a rubber drive belt or gears. They were practical and made no attempt to upsell. We really felt they were looking after our best interest instead of trying to maximize profit. They also had all the models in stock so regardless of model we chose we could take it home same day. In the end we chose a model with an instant rebate and the cost was competitive with Amazon's pricing. We had it sweeping our pool an hour later and we're are super happy with the purchase. This is an update for my last review. I was pleasantly surprised to find that I had been contacted by their customer service department the day after my review asking if I would be willing to talk with the district manager about my experience. I emailed the district manager and she called me later that day. After explaining what had happened, she was very apologetic and promised to take the appropriate steps to ensure that would not happen again. She then further impressed me by offering me the item free of charge and ensures she would order it direct from the manufacturer so there would be no problems. She kept in touch with me via email and phone calls and let me know when the item arrived and that the manager would be expecting me. I went and picked it up today and all went smooth. The steps that the District Manager took to correct the issues I had were impressive and in doing so has ensured that I will still shop at their store. read more

Where do I begin to tell you about the service I received at Leslie's Pool. I was having a few troubles with my pool this Summer, from pool not holding chlorine to cloudy, cloudy did I say cloudy water. I spoke to Stephen, he tested my water and made recommendations. We got the pool to a pretty good level with some TLC but still was not where it needed to be.Stephen assured me they would figure it out if it did not get to the balance I needed..I went back in talked to Dave, he tested my water and we were a little low on chlorine. He recommended the Angry Egg, worked great levels in pool are great. I still had some cloudy water , he recommended I check for tares or broken ribs on DE grids, sure enough after 14 years they were broken on the very top. I was able to get the new ones and install them with my husband. Took only 15 minutes. The care and service provided was top notch. I appreciate everyone at the Pleasanton Leslie Pool Center. Foremost, I would like to explain that this is my first time submitting a review. The Internet has become one of my biggest sources of well-needed information. I think of it as my one-stop shop electronic reference book. Around 80% of the time when I need to decide on things, I utilize the words printed on reading materials AND advice or tips I am usually given by my fellow mates I. I must admit that I never saw myself spending hours on the internet nor being on the other end - sharing my experience and thoughts for the world to see in hopes that I may return the favor of being helped by the "power of word-of-mouth". My husband and I had just recently retired and relocated from San Leandro, CA to Pleasanton, CA. We are proud, first-time owners of a home we can call our own!!! We have eight adorable grandchildren who now take turns in visiting us with their parents as they are the reason that keeps us going -physically and at heart. NOT TO MENTION, THE ONLY REASON we have opted for a house with a pool!!! To speed this along: my husband and I are of age where we've passed the so-called over the hill ages. DELIGHTED We were so pleased with the customer service from the moment we walked in until we pulled away from the parking space (also conveniently located near the store entrance). 3.) EQUALLY RESPECTED The Store Manager, who was as busy as a bee and had arms like those of an octopus, courteously made it a point to address everyone entering, leaving, purchasing, browsing and so on. 4.) INFORMED Our brains were fed with so much new information, that I almost thought to myself I could settle seeing my grandkids on just the usual major holidays. The patience the manager had on reexplaining every step and making sure we were well-informed EVEN through the rush of group of customers (though they seemed to be regulars, most still needed quite a bit of assistance). Came here for the first time after our robotic pool cleaner that we got from someone else broke. Maria Acosta was the only one there, but she provided great customer service. She didn't try to upsell us and really explained the pros and cons of the different units. We didn't realize how expensive they were brand new, but she really worked with us, went above and beyond, and gave us a great deal. We love the one we chose. She also told us to bring a sample of the pool water, so it could be analyzed and helped us trouble shoot the controls and how to take care of the pool. We have come back several times and we are always given great customer service from the employees and they really take their time. They actually know what they are doing and give great advice. We also went to OSH to buy salt recently, but they only had a small amount of bags. We went straight to Leslie's and was happily surprised to find that they had it for the same price and a large supply. Will be coming here for our pool needs. read more

Don't use Leslie's pool service for any major repair or installation. Their service team doesn't stand behind their work and management assumes no liability for their service reps' mistakes. We just had them install a new Pentair Intelliflo variable speed pump and a 420 sqf cartridge filter. They were slightly more expensive than our local pool service/repair shop but because we had already paid them an initial $75 to do a quote and given they were a large company, we decided to go with them thinking they'd be more reputable. Nothing could be further from the truth. We paid them close to $3000 including parts and labor to remove our old pump and filter and replace it with the new equipment. We had to wait weeks but on July 3rd they finally did the install. Took the guy 5 hours and way more than planned as he kept stopping to take calls and file paperwork. Shortly after the install after we were assured everything was done correctly and the rep left, we started to see water come up from the ground on the side of the concrete pad where the new equipment had been installed.. Called Leslie's and after a couple days the installer finally returned and said he had no idea what was going on. He thought maybe the new pump had created too much pressure and that it caused a leak in the ground and that we should spend $600 to have American Leak detection try to locate the leak. We decided to dig around the pad ourselves and see where the leak was coming from. Determined it was right under the concrete pad in the return pipe right under where the Leslie's technician had cut out the old copper pipe to fit the new plumbing. Called an independent plumber to look at it. He said probably when the Leslie's Pool rep cut the original copper pipe the vibration caused the pipe to crack around the concrete. After escalating and waiting a week, had a Leslie's service manager come out to evaluate. He says it's not their fault and will take no responsibility and that we should call American Leak detection to fix. We are now stuck with a $2000 estimate to cut out a hole in the pad and fix the leak. Unbelievable. You'd think a large corporation would stand behind its work. That's not the case. They're reps defer to district management and the district service management team takes no responsibility. Our only choice now is to pay for the repair ourselves and take them to small claims court. Avoid our situation and avoid Leslie's Pool. read more
