Owner finally responds after a year saying my review is fraudulent due to owner neglect. What he didn't say was that I was charged a few times when no "technician" showed up. Several times one did but spoke no english. After a few weeks of having to leave a message finally one showed up only to tell me my levels were low. He didn't say I had a leak but my levels were low. A few weeks, pay cycles, and increased water bills later a leak was "Supposed" See Pool Time cannot diagnose a leak. They can only refer you to a service that is backed up for months. So what happened to me was a wasted summer with no pool and an increased water bill plus being charged for a cleaning service that couldn't do the job. I could see if just one of them said "Look Sir. There's nothing we can do." That never happened. They just showed up when they felt like it and charged me. read more

Called for service on pool plumbing. Made appointment twice both times no call no show. I even called too remind them second time, told them my wife was leaving early from work to meet them. There office said they would confirm. No calls four days later. They installed pool pump a couple of years ago. I still have 30 year old heater, filter system and sweep pump. Have what is probably a simple fix on my pool heater and even though I live 5 minutes from them they were going to charge me $110 just to show up to my door. Thanks for nothing. Have had trouble with the arrogance of this place before. They also overcharge for the products in their store. Avoid these guys. Also, when I first moved to the area they volunteered to come out and do an "orientation" never telling me they were going to charge me for it. Then sent me a ridiculously overpriced bill! Pool Time did a great job renovating a large indoor pool for us with new plaster, tile, pump, and filter equipment: the works. I've been happy with their workmanship and work quality...almost two years later and everything still looks great and their work continues to receive praise. This review was long overdue. 2 years back I had my motor stopped working and pool time was sent by Ahs. They were very quick in servicing the order within a few days and placed a new motor. Not only that they also taught me a lot of things to watch out for in maintaining my pool. There was one small part which was almost broken and they told me to replace that soon. In couple of days they came with that part. They said that they were in the neighborhood so they brought this because I needed one and refused to take money. Those guys are pro!!! My 10+ years old pump stopped working and I called pool time. John answered all my questions very friendly and suggested me to use Pentair intelliFlo. During the service day, Tony replaced my old pump in no time. He explained how the new pump works and gave my advices on how to operate it, very helpful and friendly. The new pump is awesomely quiet! Thank you. Why not 5 stars then? first of all they did not call me to confirm the schedule before the service day. I had no ideas if they can come or not; secondly, on service day, I had to call them several times to confirm the schedule. the Lady seemed out of sync, she even did not get back to me as she promised after she got answer. John took my Polaris sweep to repair it. I was prepared for a few days should he have to order parts. During the day I went upstairs to change the sheets on my bed. In the afternoon, I was sitting in a chair on my patio, looking around, and saw the sweep back in my pool! I thought what is that doing there?? I wondered if I was losing my mind!! Quick repair, works great, and whoever put in back in my pool is a stealth installer! If I could give them a 10 I would, but Yelp only allows a 5. I am forced to write this - because seeing the 4+ Star rating for PoolTime, I was expecting something else. My main pool pump died, Pool Time was assigned by my home warranty company (AHS) after the first service provider failed to respond. "Danny" (?) called and attended. A quick inspection, and the pump was "deemed to be dead". Within minutes it had been excised from my pool pad, connectors snipped from the power cord and dumped in the back of Danny's truck. A few days later I'm told the pump can be rebuilt - (it is a top-end PacFab 3.0 HP), but parts will need to be ordered and take a week. Alternatively, we can replace with a new one..so far so good. Then the double-whammy, a new one would be $2843 ?? Simple Google search showed I could get a brand new VS Pentair IntelliFlo for $1700. I even shared link to seller with Danny.. Despite attempts to negotiate with Danny for his business, Danny tells me his customers pay whatever estimate he provides ! Wow - good luck. I understand business markups..but..I guess some folks think pool owners are too stupid to do a little research. read more

Every week new teenager comes for cleaning; it seems no one stays in that company for more than a month. Those teenagers are totally inexperienced and do a lousy job. When I call Willi (the front desk lady), she would not give any clear answer to any issue. She will just tell me one of our technicians will call you when they get a chance. And their turnaround time for the call is one week and that too happens when you call them and remind. On reminding, they will make excuse like I was off last week or I had to go somewhere etc. Very unprofessional treatment and hard to deal with. I am now looking for other better pool service company. My pool has turned green and when I check chlorine level, it was too low as the pool cleaner teenager just come and quickly finish without adding chemical. I pay for their premium level service costing $170, still, their service is pathetic. I have even recorded their visits in my camera and when I ask them or show evidence of negligence, they just tell me they will get back to me after investigation and they never reply back. read more

Good group. Their mechanics know their stuff. FYI, if you call them in spring, it can be a frustrating experience getting a service call because EVERYONE is calling them then. I'm comfortable using them for mechanical work. I do my own daily maintenance. read more

I come here frequently to get equipment for my job. The staff are really friendly and very supportive if I have questions about the maintenance of our pool facility. I ask multiple questions on how to properly get debris into the skimmer from cleaning the bottom of the pool properly with the amount of tools I have available. I am really happy on how convenient the location is for our facility. They are also open during good business hours and I am able to just walk over there and get everything I need in a timely manner. They also come by and fix our pool in good timing since we see patients on a daily. I am greatly satisfied with their customer service and convenience of location. read more

I'm not sure where Sheila T. is coming from, but based on my experiences the people at Pool Time are extremely knowledgeable and helpful, especially when it comes to chemical pool maintenance. They use Bioguard chemicals , which I have used for many years and while pricey, do the job better than anything that is out there. I have never been recommended anything to put in my pool that isn't adequately explained and backed up with thorough chemical analysis. These guys know their stuff. Our pool guy also told us that the stuff they sold us wasn't necessary, but our pool guy also couldn't fix our pool. He didn't even really understand what some of the chemicals were. We had thick calcium stains all over our tile and he had no idea that a scale inhibiting product existed and had the nerve to tell us we didn't need it. Pool Time gave us, in precise detail, the chemicals and instructions to deal with our problem and we haven't had issues since. I think the negative reviewer simply wanted to be a cheapskate with his/her pool, which almost always spells disaster (I know, I was one wen I first owned a pool). They cost me thousands in pool damage after servicing my pool. I had been buying chemicals from them for years and trusted them to re-plaster my pool. A year later I had to have my pool re-plastered again. The new company explained what had really been going on with my pool and how I had been misled by Pool Time. After trying for 3 months to get the green out of our above ground pool, I came to Pool Time. We had been purchasing our pool filter cartridges from them but had been having Leslie's test the water. I finally reached the last straw with Leslie's when I was told I had to drain my pool (in this drought!) and start over. I brought my water to Pool Time, had it tested and it was confirmed that none of the issues I was told I had, existed. I simply had an algae problem. Here we are three days into Pool Time's suggestions and my water is clear again. Green is gone, and I didn't have to drain my pool either. Thank you, Pool Time!! Theses guys are great. I am not sure what the other yelpers were talking about. We are a physical therapy company that has a pool. If our pool is down, everyone is grouchy. These guys have been helping keep our pool going for over 12 years. I can't count how many times they have stayed late, came early, went above and beyond and over the top to ensure our pool stayed open. They are fair to deal with and super helpful. I would recommend them to anyone with a pool. They are really magic. And they will stick with you till the problem is solved. Love these guys. read more

I own a pool in P'ton as well. Been ending up at Pool Time for years and I won't go anywhere else. I tried the slightly cheaper way a number times w/ do it yourself chemicals and equipment from Home Depot and Walmart several times, only to end up at Pool Time with expert and pleasant professionals like Nate finding the right stuff to use, info for free. Maybe this is why they have retained the business for so long. Come on now! These negative reviews are bogus!! i wish I could provide a picture of my gorgeous pool!! The owner of Pool Time in Pleasanton, Paul, and some of his staff inspected our pool motor and offered us options for our failing system, and assessed other issues with poor water suction, flow and terrible filtration. Our pool had turned green by this point, but Paul and his crew completely brought our pool back to life. The staff perfectly balanced the pool chemicals, and cleaned the pool day after day until it was in mint condition. The team went well above and beyond expectations. The motor replaced was quieter, more energy efficient and stronger, the water was cleaner and perfectly balanced, and the filter was cleaned and the excess D.E. removed. We contacted Pool Time for a one-time service, but will be long time customers. We highly recommend them for any and all pool needs big or small. Thank you Pool Time! read more

What a disappointment I thought they knew pools. First off John asks me who installed my filter I said he did and then he said he didn't think his shop would do that...come find out everyone who has been here since has told me that was not the right filter pump for my pool. He comes out and fixes my pool sweep motor now on this he did a good job and that is why the one star. He then was going to stop a leak in my pool pump well he did stop the leak in fact he did such a good job on that (tongue in cheek) that the pool motor no longer functioned. When I asked him to come back and fix it he told me he could not because it was not a variable speed motor and could not install a new one. Then he told me the one he could install we would lose all function on our pool control box and it would need to be turned on manually everyday...so what happens when you go on vacation??? I felt that John was afraid of the electricity to change the motor. I asked if I bought a motor if he would install it naturally I would pay for everything even his labor but I didn't want to swap out my entire computer system because of a problem he in my opinion caused and he said no. I suggest to you that you say no to him. read more

Wow - I'm am completely surprised by the behavior of this shop. I went to them a couple months ago to learn about my pool. They came to give me an "orientation" that I paid for and at that time they found my pool light was not safe. I requested they come and give me a quote on what it would take to fix the light. They charged me approximately $200 to replace the circuit and told me I would need to pay another estimated $200 to replace the light. When they did not show up to complete the service for three weeks and told me I had to drain the pool a foot to complete the repair I requested the owner cancel the service and told him I would fix it next year. Without checking with me he sends a repairman to my house the next week, tells my husband I ordered it and does the work .. and then bills me $1000. And then when I dispute this he tells me he thinks this is an ok way to do business. Seems like they received some negative feedback, cleaned up their act but are now back to the old way of doing business. I can confirm price gouging as well, list for the light is $400 but they are charging me over $600. Very sad to find a business like this in Pleasanton. Word of mouth will prevail I'm sure. read more
