She patiently walked me through the water test, explained what all the results meant, and told me exactly what I needed to get my pool back in shape. Went in on Saturday afternoon because we got an above ground pool and we had no idea how to take care of it. We spoke with Simon and he told us that they needed a water sample to test the waters levels to see where to start which wasn't a problem. So we got the sample and our levels needed help and he recommended some chemicals and didn't oversell us and told us we can test our water each week until it's normal. Thank you Simon! read more

I had the pleasure of receiving assistance from Adrian and Christina at the Tustin store #266 at Irvine Blvd and Newport Blvd. involving buying and installing a new pool pump. They worked diligently in getting me the best pump and the best price while looking into any discounts or sales promotions that could use. They went so far as to contact their District Manager to receive codes for discounts that were not readily available on their computer system. I don't know why this place gets such a bad rep but my experience here has been quite different and pleasant I started self servicing my pool recently and they have been extremely good resource for me -- i take my water samples to test here every two weeks and have been following their recommendations. When you deny a pool professional to use the restroom, while your company is trying to reel in the pool pros. What do you think is going to happen? The pool guys won't go there because usually we don't have restrooms to use while in someone's backyard. But our supply houses always let us use the restrooms. I needed help with leak detection and received super short "no" answers with no interest in dialogue. It was suggested that I do my own research. Service rep never looked up and engaged with me. I won't be back so years -- likely decades -- of revenue gone. Update: I went to a local competitor and the guy there listened, addressed my questions with thoughtful answers and then provided several names and phone numbers I could call to handle my concern. The interaction was all but 9 minutes but super helpful. My business will go to the local competitor. read more

We ordered a 40"x20" solar pool blanket off of Leslies.com and we received a 36"x18" size instead of what we ordered. We actually wanted the smaller size because it was only a couple of inches too small, but that size wasn't available on the website. I called customer support and told them I wanted to keep the blanket but get refunded the over $100 difference in price. I was told that I had to return the blanket and that Leslie's would pay for the shipping. I was told there was no way around this. I asked to speak to a manager and the person I was speaking to said that wasn't possible either. I said that I was going to go to our local Leslies store and talk to them. This was a great idea! I went to Leslie's in Tustin and I was helped by Simon. I told him I could bring the solar blanket to their store if it was necessary but I wanted to keep the solar blanket and be refunded the difference. He said it would be no problem. I told him that I had a picture of the package. He asked if it included the bar code. I said yes, but I wasn't sure it was readable. He zoomed into the photo on my phone and said that was all he needed. He processed the return for the solar blanket I bought and then sold me the 36"x18" I received. He was a joy to work with! I would recommend Leslie's to anyone who owns a pool. read more

We used to come to this location when the previous manager ran the store (he had a beard and was super focused on customer service). As of today, we will not bring our busines here again. We purchased a pool sweeper on line and was told that we could return it at any Leslies store. We first asked the employee who said they do not accept on line orders. Then we spoke to the manager, David who said they didn't accept on line order returns. I pushed back and he then responded that we needed to go to the Orange location and they had 4 employees who knew how to do it. He said he didn't have the knowledge. What kind of response is this? Why are YOU, David, a manager if you don't know how to do an on line return. You should not be in customer service and I will be sharing my experience with Leslie's corporate so you can get more training or demoted to a non manager role. read more

I purchased a telepole and leaf net last weekend in anticipation of the Santa Ana winds. Tried to put the net on the pole but it wouldn't fit because the connection was partially crushed. Had a great experience with the help of Richard R. Accommodating, friendly, and knowledgeable on the products sold at Leslie's. Offered to check the stocks in the back room without me even asking. Was able to assist the customers on his own even when it got busy. Lugged my 50 lbs container of chlorine into my tiny car; no complaints. Awesome attitude and has a willingness to work Suggested I seatbelt the container to avoid damage to my dashboard. Genius. read more

Awesome service! We are so lucky to have this amazing store as a pool resource in our neighborhood. They always have answers to my questions. I recently brought in a 2+ year old Polaris Robotic Cleaner that needed a new motor block. This is a very expensive repair and just by luck, my unit was just out of warranty. When they're open and stocked it use to be a good store. But I've shown up and they've had a "Back soon" sign in the door a couple times. Had to wait 60 minutes today and then gave up. Nobody showed up or answers the phone. Lately the water testing machines don't work or aren't accurate. read more

Excited to be the first to review this business. I walked into Leslie's not knowing what to expect, but desiring an education on the ins and outs of my in ground spa I inherited with my new home. I walked out of there blown away by the level of expertise and passion of the employees. While there were many Youtube videos on how to clean algae and maintain my spa, some things are best described in person. It was almost to the point that you almost don't care how much you are spending. Based on other posts, Leslie's might be a little more, but you are paying for the experience and the interaction with the staff. To be really impressed, bring a picture of your filter/pump/spa and watch in amazement as the staff can tell you exactly what you have, and how it works. While there are so many retail stores that lack experts, Leslie's will blow you away. read more

Twelve years ago I bought a house with a pool and knew nothing about pools. You basically have a water purification factory in the backyard with no experience running it and no manuals either. Top that off with being a frugal guy that won't "waste money" by hiring a pool guy, since I can learn to do it myself. There is no way, no possible way I could have made it this far without the knowledgable guys at this store. With their help I have saved what ever a pool guy charges per month * 12 months * 12 years. We live in a world where people know nothing about their products except the price. These guys know pools, period. I went to Leslie's yesterday and was instructed by a great guy answered all my questions and told me to bring a water sample today for further inspection. I called at 4:55 today and there was no answer. I arrived at 4:59 to the door, it was locked. I could see an employee from the door at the register. He was shaking his head no. I took my water in for testing and Julie Johnson did the water test. I have been trying to balance the pH after the recent rains made the pool too acidic. So I've been adding chemicals and taking my water in each time I add more chemicals to get the levels just right. Julie said, "I'm onto you people. I see you've been in everyday for a water test. What are you trying to pull? You and your daughter." First of all, just because I look like somebody else in your store and have a similar last name doesn't mean we're related. It's offensive and racist that you think we must be related. I have been going to other Leslie's locations for years and why all of a sudden I am treated so poorly at this location? Second, I don't think it is ever appropriate to call somebody "you people." It's racist, prejudiced, and unprofessional! I have no ulterior motives and am only trying to fix my water. read more

This review is long overdue. I have been receiving Excellent service from Conor for sometime now, and more recently from Julie. I guess when you get great service, advice and help EVERY time you go there, you kind of take if for granted. I was on vacation and found a small patch of green algae, that drove me crazy. I tried to manage it with scrubbing, phosfree on backwashing my filter but couldn't get it done. I tested the chlorine at home and it always was fine. I brought this to Julie and she walked me through this, and I finally have been several weeks free of any algae. What I always like about this place, is that the people who work here are friendly and no matter how many questions you have, they always answer with a smile and give great advice. They have helped me save so much money from not needing a pool person. the person I had before never officially tested the water. Since getting help here, my pool water is clear and clean. They are really there to help you with good advice, ONLY the things you need. I never feel like there is an upsale in any way. Amazing people at this location. read more

Free water testing!! I came here to buy some tablet for my pool because I heard there was a promotion going on. As soon as I step in I was greeted by a gentleman that I forgot his name. Anyways, he was extremely friendly. He asked me how much tablet I am using and so I told him three tablets a weeks. He was shock because supposedly during this time of year (cold weather) your pool chemical should be pretty good because the chemical doesn't evaporate. I told him that I dont really test the water out because I dont know how. So he told me that Leslie does free water testing to help pool owner out. I went home brought my water out to test. Sure enough my chlorine was extremely high. All this time I always thought I was doing a great job because I never had any algae. He told me to go easy with the tablet because right now I am just wasting money on something I dont need. read more

Hate the up sell and after 8 years Leslie's losses another customer. Simple algae problem they could not remedy after five months. Their product guarantee means free chemical regardless of the problem. District manger did agree to meet with me and...."must be your filter system let me show what we can sell you." Dropped off pool sweep and employee told me to bring it back later cause he didn't want to have to work on it and to come when the manager was working. Bring it back a few days later and managers still not there so I leave it anyway. A week later no one had even looked at it. Julie is AMAZING! She always greets me by name as I walk through the door. Always helpful and always smiling. She and her team, seem more concerned with helping me than with selling me chemicals and products. Of all the Leslie's locations I've been to, this one has been the most helpful. I called this place in the morning since it was the closest location to where I live, yet it was still 30-40 minutes away. I asked the guy that was working there today if they had certain items. I was looking for blue and red pool light covers. They guy that answered the phone said they had them. I asked him if there were two in a package. He said "yes". When I finally arrived at the store, I purchased the light covers as well as $110 worth of other items. Later in the day, I opened up the package only to find out that there was only one light cover per package, making them virtually useless to me unless I make another trip out to their store. That would take me over two hours to do! As a new mom, I just don't have the luxury of taking two hours out of my day to fix their employees mistake. I wish I knew the owner so I could tell him that he needs to hire people with knowledge of their business or be smart enough to take the time to be thorough when they answer customer's questions over the phone. Their service and knowledge was awful and I will be looking for another place to buy my pool supplies from now on. 9-6-14 I was contacted by management from this company and they were very concerned with making things right with me. They offered me many solutions and also referred me to one of their stores for my future needs that is much closer to my house (it was not listed on the internet which is why I drove to the Tustin location). I'm very happy with the service they provided in the end and their response to my complaint and will be shopping at their Costa Mesa location from now on.
