The 3-person Tylo sauna was pricey, $12k. Paid an additional $750 for delivery & assembly as well as $500 for freight...so about 10% extra surcharge. For $1250 extra in addition to the cost of my sauna, I expected a better experience. When the unit was delivered, my neighbor who is a general contractor was in the garage with the delivery team, watching their assembly while I was busy inside the house. When the team told me the assembly was finished, my neighbor pointed out to them that the entire unit is visibly dusty / dirty as well as the glass door seal being (1) too short on one side and (2) messed up on the other side...plus a blemish on the black wood board. I overheard one of the team members mumbling about my neighbor to the other member while getting these issues resolved, which I thought was a bit unprofessional. All my neighbor asked was for an expensive ticket item to be properly delivered, assembled and presented...very sad that the delivery team seems to think this is a big ask for a pricey sauna. I called Coastal about the door seal being short and spoke to Susan. She said she will talk to the manufacturer and get back to me... she never did. Quite a disappointing experience with Coastal. Update: Oh, just noticed that the delivery team didn't even screw the heater into the sauna wall properly. Two of the four support screws were half exposed...they are specialty screws so I don't have the tools to screw them into the wall fully so have to probably hire someone to do it or buy the right tools. What a joke...paid $1250 extra for this type of service.

Irvine Spa has updated their facilities. Some rooms are getting renovated, some rooms have cushion…read moremats with head rest to lay. There game room is actually pretty cute now. It use to be a kids play area but they change into a photo booth, claw machine game room so older folks can enjoy. Their food court menu has expanded too. It use to be mostly Korean food but now you have shave ice, fruits, salad and smoothie drinks. Which is great if you're not particularly wanting anything heavy. Yes price has increased but they are also updated and expanded to make the experience more pleasant which I appreciate. It being over 6 months that I last came and was pleasantly surprised. I stop going for a while because the price increased but the facilities stayed the same and a little underwhelmed but now I'm enjoying it little bit more. It seems like everything is just a little bit better now. I see the effort.

They put a lot of effort into recreating the feel of a traditional Korean village in their jjimjilbang and rest area, and it really does make you feel like you've been transported to Korea. The women's soaking pools are also spacious. Unfortunately, my most recent visit was really disappointing. The jjimjilbang rooms were noticeably cooler than I remembered. Most of them were barely warm enough to make me sweat, and even the hottest room didn't feel hot at all. At first, I assumed something was malfunctioning, which I would have completely understood. However, I asked the front desk and was told that these are going to be their regular temperatures moving forward because they had been cited by the health department for the rooms being too hot. I understand that they have to comply with health department requirements, but for someone who specifically comes here for the traditional Korean sauna experience, this completely changes the experience for me. If I'm going to a sauna, I expect to sweat. The LA weather outside honestly feels hotter than some of the sauna rooms now. It's unfortunate because iSpa used to be worth the hour-plus drive for me, and I genuinely loved coming here. The atmosphere is still beautiful and unique, but without the heat I expect from a Korean sauna, I don't think I'll be making the drive back.

I even recommended him to my neighbor. I didn't realize my neighbor had to get on the horn to get him to finish the job, which he did do, with some hassle. I didn't know about this until recently. Chad is a down to earth guy and I completely trusted him. Turns out if you read the reviews on Chad Taylor at this site, they are completely accurate. It was excuse after excuse and lie after lie to drag this job out through the summer. When I gave him the check for $900 my wife said he could just take that money and cash it for himself and not even order a Jacuzzi top for us amongst other things. I thought she was paranoid. Turns out she was right. When I was in 2nd grade my teacher asked us what we wanted to be when we grew up. Some of the kids said astronaut, or engineer or professional athlete, etc. Imagine what Chad would say: "I want to be a crook, and a liar." Chad would grow up to be exactly as imagined. I let him know what repairs others had recommended, and he confirmed that the seals and impeller needed to be replaced. However, he said the seal plate was fine, and did not need to be replaced at this time. I appreciated his honesty, as he could have charged us more for an unnecessary repair. While he was at our house, I also noted that one of the valves leaked when we ran the spa, and he quickly diagnosed and addressed the issue. Finally, after he left, I noticed that one of the connections (which he had removed to repair the pump and motor) was leaking. He ended up coming back multiple times to correct the problem (he ended up replacing a pinched o-ring), and he even checked in a few days later to ensure everything was working smoothly. Super nice guy, he was very knowledgeable (he mentioned having experience as a Pentair technician), and honest, and his pricing felt more than fair. While I hope we don't have any more issues with our pool or pool equipment, I would not hesitate to hire Marcus again in the future.
