I am very grateful for the amazing help provided by the competent and knowledgeable staff and technicians at Leslie's Pool Supplies. When my pool pump was not running properly, I called the Leslie's Hesperia store, and Jose was extremely helpful. He listened carefully to the problem, made sure the details were noted, and efficiently scheduled Emilio, a Leslie's technician, to come out and take a look. My sincere thanks to Emilio for doing such a thorough inspection of the pump. He replaced the O-ring on the pipe, identified other details concerning the area beneath the pump, and gave me helpful advice on how to keep the motor in good condition. Most importantly, he was able to get the pump working properly again. Many thanks also to Brandi at the Bear Valley store, who went above and beyond by drawing on her extensive contact list to give me references for highly competent technicians who could address the additional issues Emilio identified. Leslie's manager sent someone to my home to provide an estimate for installation and material. I went in yesterday to purchase all new equipment and pay the materials and installation cost given to me on the contract. The manager was out so the kid left in charged stated that was not his job and he didn't know how to charge me. I asked if I could pay at a different location and he called his manager who I assume made him assist me with the purchase. He was very upset, kept saying that wasn't his job, he didn't know how, I was patient waited an hr for him to figure it on the screen, he finally said he's ready for payment and wants to charge me $700 more in installment than what's on the contract, he again stated I don't know this isn't my job that's what appears, they'll refund you.. I asked when? He states "I don't know, whenever" EXTREMELY unprofessional the whole interaction. The kid has no business working there. I thought he was high at first because he seemed out of it, very uninteresting and unwilling to want to help but no he just really has no knowledge of how to do his job which he also claimed was not his job, but after calling the other store they advise me it was and where not surprised. I left early from work to get this done. He stated the manager might be in the next day but would leave early. This is thousands of dollars in purchases, you would think there would be better customer service. This is my second interaction with the kid, the first one was similar but short and the manager was there so it wasn't a big deal but this time he was left alone and there is no way no one is aware of this employees worth ethics. read more

I can't think of a worse business that I've ever had the misfortune of trying to work with. I needed a pool heater replaced and I started in all chipper and ready to buy. So I called the Leslie's store and they put me on hold for 15 minutes (not a problem, I can wait), but then they come back to the phone and say they just don't have time for me. Come in and see what they have. Well, I know what they have, what I don't know is how to get it installed. So I go online to order from the website and they have a $99 installation special. I'm thinking, "how lucky is this?" So now I try to find someone to order from, but either no one answers, the person answering can't really help (you have to order it, then we'll see what we can do), but we don't know if we have it... Well, what's reported on the site is not in stock apparently. So I call a customer support line which tranfers me to a rep in Phoenix (headquarters). I tell him I want to buy a pool heater and he proceeds to tell me they have to get a guy out there to look at it which will cost $100, but some would be applied to installation. No problem. I get it set up. A guy comes out and gives me a bid for service. Great! When can I get you to install it. He doesn't know because I have to buy the heater then give Leslie's a call to have them set up an install. OK, fine. He leaves, I call Leslies, and they don't have a heater that they can ship to me within 2 weeks and have no idea who the guy was that came out. So I'm looking at buying a heater, with no idea if it will work, and Leslie's has no idea who came out so I can check with him (since he is the ONLY one that would know). After first basically being told not to call them, to two weeks of non-stop back and forth with no one knowing what the other person is doing, and absolutely no success in anything but paying someone $100 to come out and look at my heater, I went with Pool Supply Unlimited, who immediately took my call, went over my system and sold me a heater. Now I'm just finding someone myself to install. Unless you have no other option, I would steer clear of this procedural mess. Managers not wanting to help, employees pushing you away (over the phone or in-store), they are so "over" the customer that they leave a horrible impression of the entire organization. Corporate, local stores, affiliates, no one, and I mean no one could tell you what the other hand is doing. The most frustrating experience of any company I've ever dealt with. It's a hot mess, and you'd be so much less stressed just to stay away from the store, and give their employees some much needed alone time so they don't have to deal with any of us bothersome customers. read more

I bought a above ground pool from Costco. The pool is great but it required a ton of maintenance. I worked with the staff at Leslie's and we decided upgrading the filter would help long term and cut the cost of maintenance and chemicals. It's been a year. Best thing I have ever done. I could not have done with without the staff at Leslie's. They are kind, patient, test the water for free, and problem solve even with a person who had no clue what I was getting into. Spent $95 in chemicals recommended by them, to get my new pool going! the day after, pool I set up was leaking.... drained the pool, returned it, tried to Return chemicals & i was told Leslie's has a new policy of "zero returns" of any chemicals from the moment customers walk out of their store! Reason: As soon as the chemicals are taken out of the store, their "composition changes", depending on the heat, storage and other factors!? That's the stupidest excuse I've ever heard! Brandy, Ernesto and Izzy are always keeping your best interest in mind. I've followed their advice religiously for years and haven't "killed" my pool in over four years. ALWAYS sparkling clear. Brandy is helping me with a salt water chlorinator issue and never makes me feel like I'm a pain (even though I likely am) when I come in the store to solve a problem. They do free water testing and help me keep my pool clear! I came to Leslie's Swimming Pool Supplies looking for a cute, but water friendly radio that I could use poolside. I was so excited that they had so many options that could actually go in the water. I decided to get a speaker that could float and had color changing lights on it. It took four AA batteries, but that isn't so bad. I get blocks of batteries at Costco. I got the adorable speaker home and the freaking thing will not work with my phone. I have a MOTO X, so I assume it is my phone. I get my son's iPhone 5 and it still isn't working. I try it a few more times, but I am just getting mad. I called Leslie's and they tell me to bring it back. I noticed that I lost the receipt and they didn't eve have a problem with that because I was just there that day and I am a frequent shopper. Great customer service! They try to get the speaker working and let me know that a lot of people return them. What?!?! Why did you sell me this pile of crap for $99.99? I decided to just return the speaker and use my radio that I have outside for my pool time music. I am glad that they were easy to do the return, but I wish I could have saved the time and effort. They are always helpful when I go in there with pool questions. I never know what I am supposed to put in my pool and they are quick to offer cheap, but effective options. read more

I had changed my one speed pump pentair to a variable speed. Like most pool owners we all do want to save money. Plus with the Edison rebate of 200 hundred dollars is a plus. Leslie has no wait policy they deduct the price of the rebate. Here comes the headache. Michael the technician installed the new pump, taken into consideration of the weather not very accommodating I understand the variables. The next day we noticed air bubbles .. Second service call in attempt to fix was not fixed. Third service call still air bubbles. Leslie new technician told me to buy a new hose for the cleaner and the leak is coming from the hose which I did. I even had the gauge of the filter change also recommended . Fourth visit .. To redo what was done re plumbing . Second technician recommended it so. Today was my schedule date for the service. For some reason Leslies pool think it was good idea to send the original technician which I was already reluctant for him to return the third visit. I have specifically requested for the second tech and not the original one. This has been ongoing and easy simple task to change a pump. If I had a premonition with this I should have gone with my pool man. April 20 is my fifth schedule to fix the issue . This has been such a night mare ! read more

I bought a pool pump from Leslie's and it was 459.99 on sale, well they told me it had one year warranty. After installing it 5 days later it started to make a loud noise, contacted leslies and ask me to take it to the store to bench test it. Well it tested fine with out being under any pressure so they suggested to buy new seals for it. Witch I did. After installing it I back it continue to make the noise it was more like a grinding noise, took it back and they refused to replace it or send it to repair because their bench test was good. At this moment the 14 day period had passed and they didn't wanted to repair. I end up buying another motor from Bill's pool supply and this new motor works fine. Really bad service from their employees and people at corporate when trying to get this problem resolved. Top of that they wanted to send a technician over to inspect a problem with my pool motor at home with a charge of $129.00 per hour plus any needed parts to just tell me yes your motor is bad. Will never buy anything from Leslie's again. read more

For two years we fought with mustard-yellow algae. We tried numerous products with no success. However, in May 2014 we were in this store and Christian Barnes assisted us. First he explained that we had to 'kill' the algae, and then remove any food source. So, we used the kill algae product first, then we are using Phos Free. WOW, for the first time in two years our pool is crystal clear, algae free and a beautiful blue. Christian Barnes is a great asset to the Leslie's Pool Supply Company. Thanks Leslie's for over-calculating the amount of salt I would need when I switched to a salt pool system, causing me to drain 1/3 of my 28,000 gallon pool in order to dilute the amount of salt in the water, and probably costing me another 200.00 on my water bill this month.
