I was a patient of Dr. Cassam's for my first pregnancy. She did not follow up with me on any tests I had to do while pregnant. She treated me as if I should know what tests had to be done... She was outright mean to her assistants while I was there and always seemed in a bad mood. Flash forward: my baby is two and I book in to see my doctor because only after two years of being a new mom was I thinking about taking control of my own health. I booked in for a check up and the next day her office called to tell me because I didn't check in with her for two years she no longer is my doctor. Maybe I misunderstood the relationship between patient and doctor but I didn't think you could break up with a patient just cause I didn't have the need (or time) to book an appointment for myself. After this experience I did not want her as my doctor anyway. Good riddance. I never write reviews let alone bad ones but women.... with female issues...I wouldn't step foot in her office. read more

Rude and unhelpful staff. I was born in Canada and lived here ever since. I wasn't able to find my health card, but I had the number and I had government issued ID. I was refused service by the nasty front desk and whoever the doctor was in back. I went 2 kilometres up the road to Greenwood, Danforth, Medical Centre and was seen in under five minutes. Their front desk person verified my health card in their system and their doctor had a lovely demeanour, was super helpful and knowledgeable. read more

I was a patient of Dr. Cassam's for over 10 years. At my most recent appointment, I arrived on time but waited 35 minutes. Unfortunately, I had another appointment I could not miss, so I had to leave without being seen but notified the receptionist that I had to leave. Two weeks later, I received a phone call from the office requesting a $50 no-show fee. I explained to the receptionist that I was in fact present and on time, but had to leave after an unreasonable wait. One month later, I received a letter in the mail stating that Dr. Cassam would be reducing her practice roster and that I should find a new physician. After a decade of being her patient, it was very disappointing to be let go in this way. After being a patient for 10 years, I found this experience extremely disappointing and unprofessional. Being dismissed from a long-standing family practice over an unfair fee was hurtful and unnecessary. I would caution anyone considering this practice to be aware of how patients are treated. read more

She listens and engages, there are never bad questions, and you are never rushed through your appointment. There are also no wait times when you have an appointment. Very organized office. DON'T GO HERE!!! I came here TWICE in a one-week period and they refused to treat me. They gave me this bullshit suggestion to try something on my own which I did and all that did was relieve me of $20. I tried it, it did NOTHING, I came back and another doctor, who was also very rude, again refused me. WTF is going on down there?!!! Is this a MEDICAL CLINIC or not?!!! Only positive thing I can say? Didn't have to wait long but if they make a habit of turning people away, then that explains why they weren't busy. Maybe the CPS would like to hear how rude this doctor is? Don't waste your time. My bf went here when he suddenly had, what we thought was a cut on his eyelid that was getting infected. He also had what looked like a bug bite on his arm that was getting worse. The first time he went the doctor told him they only treat one issue a time and refused to hear about his arm issue. He also told him he would have to come back another day That appointment took no more than 15 mins. How absolutely stupid is that?! How on earth can you not even ask what the issues are? They could be related or one could be more import ant than the other. So rather than seeing him for half an hour on one day he had to come back and create more work the next day. Anyways, he gave him an cream but it didn't go away. He went back the following week and got another doctor. This time he at least listened to both issues. He said they weren't related, have him different creams for each. It was getting worse He went back a 3rd time as both were getting worse. The doctor spent a little more time with him and diagnosed him with pink eye and an infection on his arm. Have him steroid cream for his eye. It still didn't get batter. Thankfully he was accepted at a family practice the following week and went in. Turns out both issues are related. It's eczema and the steroids on his eyes were bad. So 3 trips to the clinic. 3 misdiagnosis. And negligence for not wanting to at least hear what all the issues are as they were related. I wouldn't let them treat my pet read more

I love Dr. Cassam and this clinic so much that I asked her to be my family doctor! Dr. Cassam runs a family practice there on Tuesdays and Thursdays, which is the only caveat. She is there the other days but only as a walk-in doctor - and she'll still see her patients but cannot discuss their medical matters (test results etc) until your scheduled family practice appointment time. She can still help with whatever illness that brought you in to seek help. Dr. Cassam listens! She is non-judgemental, knowledgeable, empathic, and has a great sense of humour. I was in shock that a doctor who is a normal, real person actually exists! I was so used to my abusive GP that I had for 20 years, I figured there was no such thing as an easy going, warm, caring GP - I was so wrong. I only wish I found her sooner! *** Also, Dr. Cassam understands mental health problems and gives them high regard in your wellbeing. Don't be afraid to say how you're truly feeling and ask for help. She will listen without judgement and offer you suggestions, options, and help you navigate a difficult time. There is a pharmacy inside the Loblaws in the medication aisle, which is handy if you're sick and want to fill your prescription right away. You can always buy a bottle of wine to drink away your problems just over in the other aisle, or skip the aisle and walk out of the clinic 6 feet and buy your weight in wine at The Wine Rack! Or you could do a healthy grocery shop to let food be your medicine. Or some retail therapy down the hall at Joe Fresh. Or up your caffeine intake at Starbucks a sneeze away from the clinic. Up to you! It's a win-win any which way you look at it. If you have problems with your alignment or other painful muscular issues the clinic now has a physiotherapy and chiropractic practice called Health Global. Also, during this challenging Covid time, you have a free pass to SKIP THE LINE OUTSIDE waiting to get into Loblaws. You are allowed to tell the security person that you have an appointment at the clinic and zip right in. Mind you, most appointments with the doctor are virtual at the moment, but if you needed something or are visiting the physio you can skip the line. The receptionists are lovely and fun too. I enjoy my experiences when I'm there, even if I'm sick. When I read a bad review here I wonder if the person came in with a sense of entitlement, or in an angry, hard to please mood. Yes, anxiety makes us feel edgy but how you treat others reflects back on how others respond to you - a Law of attraction kind of thing. That's always good to keep in mind in life, not just when asking for help from a service. I have procrastinated in writing this review for a couple of years because it's such a gold mine that I didn't want it to be discovered by too many people and get overrun! . Like when a van lifer finds an amazing, empty gorgeous spot out in the desert near some rad slot canyons with miles of sunny open space for her 4 dogs to run endlessly, and perhaps a cool, refreshing river to float around on in rubber boats, listening to hippy tunes, drinking 6 White Claws and meeting up with her other nomad friends for a jazz-cabbage kind of weekend, but drunkenly puts the location pin on her IG page. So now the whole world knows about it and moves in and ruins it with their non LNT practice and litter. But maybe I just have an overactive imagination! read more

We took our child here before leaving for a long weekend trip. The dr tested him for strep, said she'd be in touch over the weekend if it was positive, and sent us on our way. We did not hear from her and she called us FOUR days later to inform us he does have strep and that he would have to come back in for a prescription. 1) other clinics offer rapid tests where results show up immediately 2) any other doctor i have ever seen for strep would provide a prescription immediately so that you don't have to come back in 3) a strep test does not take 4 days to come back as positive, she just neglected to call So, billing is what they are after and I am deeply unimpressed. I went to this clinic with a rash that I wasn't sure was anything but turned out it was. Glad I made this decision. I remember a girlfriend a few years ago saying how fast she was in and out and out of there. Thats why I figured there was no harm in getting it looked at. I brought my book as I was prepared to wait. Only 4-5 people in front of me. It was just over an hour and I didn't mind at all, as they were very efficient. The receptionist was lovely, she was professional and personal. Once meeting Dr Cassam, she was very welcoming, genuine and friendly. Most walk in clinics I have been to I felt like they are going through the motions and so busy they didn't really pay attention. Best walk in Clinic I've ever been to. Parking: Loblaws parking lot, lots of parking but pretty full depending on what one of day it is. I would recommend going before 12 and just before 2pm. Wait times: Low, I've never waited longer than 10 to 15 minutes ever. Waiting area: Clean and sometimes empty, usually 2 or maybe 3 others waiting tops, seats about 25 people when packed, but again never seen that many people ever. Clean and smells fine. I believe there is a pharmacy close buy but I don't know where it is exactly. But wine rack and other amenities like Loblaws and Joe fresh close by. Receptionists: Friendly, never seem too busy to answer any questions. They match your mood so if your friendly, they will be friendly, if your rude and obnoxious, we'll expect a bit of push back. Doctors: Dr. Spears, Dr. Ladak and one other Asian Dr. I can't remember the name of we're all amazing and extremely knowledgeable yet young Doctors all likely in their early to mid 30's. They were quick and efficient and very knowledgeable about my potential diagnosis. All 3 referred me to great specialists and locations I could go for further testing. All in all very pleased. This clinic has no tools for dislodging any object from ears. ( i was told to go downtown) . Good parking here though. Can't believe they can't just carry some instruments for ear treatment, seems very lazy of a business like this to waive that cost. read more

Horrible experience. The doctor that was working there Saturday morning is incredibly degrading. She speaks to patients in a sarcastic tone as if they are below them. I am a Canadian citizen (born in Canada) with valid ohip coverage and work at a hospital. With such exposure, I understand what is unethical and thus know that charging patients for vaccinations that are clearly government funded is troublesome. Prices range for vaccinations but this doctor tried to charge 50+ for a tb test. Advice for this clinic: 1. Employ doctors who enter the profession because of a desire to help patient rather than receive a paycheque 2. Ensure that publicly funded vaccinations are not charged as this is ILLEGAL - flu shots and tetanus shots are free for adults period! Visit the government of ontario site to see for yourself... 3. This is drop-in clinic is one of those secrets that you don't want to tell anybody about in case word gets out and it becomes a chockablock of infectious, forlorn humanity that crowds the waiting rooms at other clinics around the city. There is always that one child with a double dose of pink eye that stares at you and sees through your soul. There is never anybody in the waiting room. Like, never ever. It is shiny, clean, and new. The Wine Rack is across the hall. Which is how I know there is never ever anyone in the waiting room. The receptionists are really nice. There is a stack of the most recent months Elle Canada and Toronto Fashion. The pages are clean and snot-free. And you don't even have time to read them! The doctor I had was lovely, non-judgmental about how I got my ear infection. A simple "Do not use QTips" (LOL! As if! QTips are for amateurs) was all she said, prescribing some ear drops, sending me on my way so she could treat the roomful of people with invisible-itis. The caveat is that they have limited hours, like weekdays between 9-2pm. It would be nice if they had Saturday hours because I had that ear infection through entire Victoria Day weekend and I was forced to search the internet for a home remedy, PRO TIP: NEVER put a clove of garlic in your ear. It burns like hell-fire. This is how you kill a vampire or lance a plantar's wart. Big mistake to stuff one in your ear canal. But if you call ahead, sometimes they have extended evening hours so there's another secret from me to you. You're welcome. read more

Out of all the places that I contacted for assistance Leslieville Medical Centre was the most professional, responsive, and by far the most helpful clinic that I have encountered. Upon dealing with Dr.Cassum I was genuinely impressed with her level of care & consideration that was implemented regarding my treatment. Working in the front lines in this unprecedented and challenging time; putting community ahead of risk to her own health cannot be commended too highly. I was diagnosed with one condition, put on meds, and tests sent away. 5 days later I was contacted by Doctor's office stating that the tests said there was something else wrong and I needed a new prescription and to see doctor. However the hours for the clinic were not open after work (I am a teacher) or on the weekend (like I had originally taken advantage of to see the doctor). I asked if the doctor could call, and was told she does not speak with patients on the phone. I asked if the doctor could call in the prescription to a pharmacy, they were unwilling to do that. I asked if the test results could be forwarded to another doctor, they were unwilling to do this. When I said that due to my employment it was impossible to take off school the secretary turned around and gave me unsolicited advice on how to manage my life. read more

This Morning my son, went to the Walk-in- Clinic at the Leslie & Lakeshore location. We've been there several times before. However, this time he went on his own, with severe strup throat infection. The Indian, Doctor examine my son, then she told him to go home and goggle with salt water, and to also drink lots of fluid. I was so annoyed! While my son is in severe pain, in his throat, and having difficulties swallowing. So, my point is why the hell they are taking our health coverage, just like that, and refusing to prescribe medication. In the end, I kept calling our family doctor office, and the were so kind, supportive to squeeze my son between an appointment. And guess what? He has strup, just as I thought, and is on Penicillin. December 31st. The clinic is closed. Sure, we tried calling, but nobody answered. There's no 'our-hours-are' greeting. The voice mailbox was full. My sick wife with our sick infant went for the 9AM opening time and there was no sign on the door detailing holiday hours. Get it together, clinic. This was unprofessional at best. read more
