If I could give Sam more than 5 stars, I absolutely would!…read more Sam was responsible for the retaining walls, built in stairs, drainage work, and new backyard path as part of our much larger backyard renovation that also included astroturf and fencing. His work was the foundation that everything else depended on, and he finished in time, keeping the entire project on schedule. He built two beautiful retaining walls with integrated stairs and created a dry river rock drainage bed along the outside of our fence to help prevent erosion and washout next to our new path to the backyard. The craftsmanship is outstanding, and it's obvious he takes pride in doing things the right way. He also completed a separate project at the front of our home, removing old bushes and installing new sod. The sod has established beautifully and is doing amazingly well. Beyond the quality of his work, Sam is one of the kindest, most honest, and hardest working people we've ever hired. He communicates well, shows up when he says he will, and genuinely cares about delivering a great result. Finding someone with this level of integrity, reliability, and skill is rare. I chose 5 companies based on high ratings and reviews from multiple sites (Google, Yelp, HomeAdvisor, NextDoor) and received estimates that had a wide range in price/cost. BTW- the scope of work was tree cutting and stump grinding. Here's why I decided to go with KnowTrees: 1. This company had the most consistent highest ratings across all of the sites. Many of the reviews were recent and from a wide range of individuals. BTW - YELP is hiding many of the 5 star review from many other customers. If you scroll to the bottom of the review, you can see the hidden reviews. 2. The owner, Matthew, is fantastic. 3. Most importantly to me.....the PRICE. His bid was very competitive and reasonable. Here's why I'm glad I used KnowTrees: 1. Great communication leading up to the work. 2. The crew very professional. 3. The work was done efficiently and carefully. 4. Clean up was fab. My next door neighbor was so pleased with the work they did (he was watching them from his porch) he wanted their contact info. I plan on using KnowTrees as our primary tree expert. The owner for months fed me story about rain and being backed up but could never give me an appt date. After months of trying to get an appt I asked for a refund and was told they don't get paid until the voucher is redeemed. I will b contacting living social to see what they can do to assist with getting a refund or getting the company to come cut my yard. I have been more than patient. I haven't even heard anything from them.

Interesting that the owner wrote this... "We Strive to service your property on time when we say we will. If for some reason (weather, sickness, or mechanical issues) we can not make it the day we stated, we will notify you and let you know when we will be there. We will not leave you wondering.. I am a senior citizen and very particular with my yard and money, he came out and gave me free estimates WHEN HE SAID HE WOULD. Started work and finished the job on time, went above and beyond what I asked, wasn't even a leaf on the ground when he finished and was very reasonable on the price too. I plan on using him for my landscaping from now on, to include cutting grass and redoing my backyard from his recommendations. You will not be disappointed, I hesitated before writing this review because I do not want him to get too busy, but he is such a honest and hard worker I had to give him the praise he deserves.
