These guys are good! They actually arrived over an hour early to set up and were courteous when we weren't even there yet to let them in. We used them for a Christmas Party at a condo's clubhouse. A man and his son came and were extremely efficient. The son was crucial for English speaking purposes. The food was a little greasy but all of our guests thought it was great. Perhaps the grease helps. We had tacos with chicken, steak, and pork. Our sides were: Red and Green Salsa Radishes Cilantro and Onions Grilled Jalapenos Grilled Onions Rice and Beans Chips and Salsa All of this for less than $10 per person! There was plenty of food and they served for about an hour until we were done with seconds. I read on here that they give you the leftovers, but they did not leave us with any this time. That is the reason for the minus star. Still a great deal though. They drove out to Pacific Palisades with no complaints! read more

We had asada, chicken, and al pastor tacos along with rice, beans, and some grilled onions with jalapeños. They also had a variety of salsas that complimented their tacos perfectly. DID NOT SHOW UP AT MY CONFIRMED EVENT!!! So disappointed. I chose this company based on mostly good reviews on Yelp. I had emails and confirmation that they were coming. I was hosting a Cinco de Mayo event today at a major ad agency for about 40 people. Everyone was expecting tacos as part of the "fiesta". I was panicked when I arrived to NO CATERING COMPANY! They would not pick up their phone, no call letting me know they weren't coming, no email. Just totally did not show up. Thank goodness Baja Fresh was located across the street and threw together a last second catering order. I would not recommend this company...TERRIBLE of them to leave me high and dry and stressed out when it should have been a fun, easy client event. read more

My office has been using this catering service for several years for our office parties. Normally, everything is great. Lety's staff arrives on time, their service is affordable, and their tacos are delicious. This year, our experience was unacceptable... - Lety's Catering showed up an hour and a half late, leaving our guests without food for almost half of the duration of our holiday party. - In past years, Lety's has brought enough food for us to have huge containers of leftovers. This year, we placed the same order, had about 75 FEWER guests than usual and Lety's ran out of tacos before the party was over. This is in addition to serving an hour and a half less than usual, due to their late arrival. - Lastly, Lety's Catering arrived without a propane tank for their grill and acted as if they expected us to provide it. We have never provided the propane tank for them in the past, and it is the norm for a catering service to provide their own equipment... Since they were already late, we were forced to scramble and borrow a tank to lend them from a tenant. At the end of the party, they took our propane tank with them. I told them they accidentally took our tank and they said they were just refilling it and bringing it back to us, since a refill costs about $20. When I called them back just a few days after the party to check in on the tank, they answered and then hung up on me. and then blocked my calls. Needless to say, I will be finding a new taco catering service for all future events with our company, and I no longer recommend their service to anyone. read more

The food was great and plentiful. So many people were raving about how delicious it was. They arrived early to set up and looked very professional. And they stayed late to help put everything away. I have NO complaints about this caterer at all. They were professional, easy to get a hold of EXTREMELY reasonable with thier price. It cost 340 to cater for 50+ people (more like 60) and we had SO much food left over. My husband grew up right on the boarder in SD and he said he hasnt had tacos this good in recent memory. Better then he favorite local taco stand by a mile. The salsas were spicy, Even the mild but that wasnt a problem for our crowd. I cant recommend these guys enough. Give them a call. They really made my party great. They offered 3 kinds of meat but we only had chicken and carne asada. The beef got the better vote (but I didnt try it). We used this company two times, one for my daughters 3rd birthday and again today for my sons 2nd birthday. everyone loves the tacos. we always get asada, carnitas, and chicken. It comes with salsa (red & green), raddsh, cilantro, onions, grilled onions, grilled jalapenos. We paid $360 for 50 people which included extra $50 for rice and beans. there was plenty of meat left over at the end and they leave all the extra food for you and your guets to enjoy even after the cook leaves. The carnitas were really good and chicken too. The asada was good the first time but today wasn't as good as the other two meats. It was still vey tasty though just wasn't as good as i've had if before from them. I would def reccomend this company to anyone who will listen. They are prompt, professional, and food is delicous. we had Jorge both times and he is great . If you are thinking about it just do it. We had a recent event and used Lety's Services. We went with chicken, carne asada, al pastor and a veggie option. Beans only as I provided my own rice. The meat was very good, the veggie options was mixed veggies carrots, broccoli, onions,cabbage. Lots of our veggie only guest enjoyed the change. I enjoyed it but thought it could use some mushrooms and tomatoes. Overall Lety's came thru once again, total cost $405 for 60 people and 4 choices.. We used Lety's Catering for my daughter's first birthday. The taco guy was right on time, and he brought almost everything needed to serve about 50+ people. Great experience! We ordered asada, al pastor, and chicken. All were very tasty, and the green and red salsas were spicy but good. It was $300 for 40 people, $50 for beans/rice on the side, and $30 for the 10 people I added last minute. $380 for a LOT of food, and everyone ate as much as they wanted to. The Mexican contingent at the party had high praise for the tacos. Note: Speaking Spanish is definitely an asset to the customer, as it might have been difficult to set up or navigate through details if I didn't. You do have to provide utensils, napkins, and a table. We also gave our taco dude an EZ up - it was hot! read more

My mom called in this catering service this past weekend for my brother's grad party since he lovesssss tacos! Some mixed reviews about this place not showing up, but that the food was really good, and we kept calling the days leading up to the event making sure they showed up! And they did, although it was a little later then what we had originally planned, they were supposed to be at our house to set up at 5:30 and start serving at 6:30, but came a little later which delayed dinner and we had a huge hungry crowd! But overall the food was great I thought. She didn't really speak English, only enough to communicate what kind of tacos we wanted which was fine! I thought my mom had just ordered chicken and carne asada, because that is what the majority of our family eats, mainly chicken actually and some vegetarians. But I didn't even realize there was pork too, maybe they added that in as an extra for us & everyone really enjoyed it! Boy was there alot of food, we had tons of leftovers for everything, the tortillas, sauce, meat etc. The chicken was really tender and flavorful. The carne asada was flavorful but I found a bit chewy and tad over salted, which I added lime and other condiments to it, so didn't notice in the actual taco. The rice was so flavorful, couldn't stop eating it. The beans were also really good & you can tell they were made from scratch. The salsa verde was so good, perfect amount of spice, I still have it in my fridge to eat. The red salsa was also really good too. She had all the right condiments for the tacos. Overall I may want to call Lety's Catering again or try out something new, but they didn't disappoint on the flavor, just the tardiness. read more

Hmm... I'm a little torn on the score. Phone ordering: The lady on the phone was very pleasant and was able to answer all of the questions I had, especially since I've never really organized this kind of catered event before. She called me back a couple days before the event to confirm, wonderful. The food: I had ordered tacos for about 80 people and there certainly was more than enough food for 80 people. Most of the people liked the carne asada and the chicken. I myself thought the al pastor was pretty good and the carne was a bit on the grisly side, but you know, personal preference. Quite frankly, the food was just slightly above average. The service: Excellent! Rosa and her son, Adrian, were extremely helpful and prompt in their arrival. They took care of everything, including set up and breakdown. Very positive experience from them. Summary: I thoroughly enjoyed their customer service for being a small mom and pop type company. We used them for a housewarming/birthday shindig last year after attending a party that they catered. The tacos were delicious!!! It was a little difficult setting up the appointment as some of the other yelpers have mentioned, they don't answer the phone as Lety's Catering Service; I actually think it's a home number. They also had to keep me on hold as they found someone who could speak English to help me. I really should pick up on some conversational Spanish... I ordered enough meat: chicken, carne asada, and carnitas for 40 people with rice and beans and all the salsa, radish, cilantro, onions, and grilled jalepenos for under $325 inc. a generous tip and we fed way more than 40 people and still had left-overs! Let's just say the meat was so good we were fighting over who got to take the left-overs. I really like their rice and the beans, not too thick, not too watery. Hired this company for our Pre 4th of July Fiesta/Employee Appreciation day that I had twisted my employer's arm into doing. Originally found out about them via Chowhound, reasonable prices, amazing food, hands down the best al pastor and rice I have had in LA. Spent $330.00 to feed 35 people (included 3 meats, rice and beans). They were easy to work with, except the constant reconfirmations of reconfirmations on the phone........but I heart our taco guy who was very accomodating and generous. He came prepped with plates and napkins, sauces, cilantro, onions, limes and got the food cooked in less than 1 hour. I was so infatuated with their al pastor that I was craving more the next day (or it was the hangover), anyway......looks like Labor Day will be my next opportunity to force my boss to let me throw some random company event.......... and taco time is ON! read more

O.K., this is a taco caterer that we hired to come and prepare tacos at our house. The only thing we had to do was provide a table, plates and napkins. Food was superb. We went with a three meat choice. All the salsa and onions were provided, he even grilled some for us. We had him here for a Little over 3 1/2 hours. Price was very reasonable, we paid $380 for 80 people. The calls we made before to confirm our party were great. I mean we called other places and rarely was a phone call returned, these guys are great, pros and prompt. Now to the negatives. You will have leftovers and that means a lot of taco nights. I used this company for my girl's 30th bday, Served about 60 people and everyone LOVED them. The Taquero even made up cheese quesadillas for the vegetarians. Only issue was the quesadillas were an extra charge. I paid for them to be made. But no one knew that was an option until I realized no one was ordering them so in the end I ended up with 3 bags of unopened tortillas... the should let the guests know what is on the menu. We used them for a babyshower for about 70 people and boy there was so much meat leftover. I only ordered the carne asada, rice and refried beans. The meat was very watery/oily so the tortillas were very soggy. The refried beans had no flavor to them. I dont think i will be using them next time. read more

I was at a party a couple years ago that Lety's catered and I was impressed. I retrieved their info and I finally got to put them to use for my girlfriend's birthday party a few days ago and it did not disappoint. I had made my reservation with Elizabeth a couple weeks in advance and she took down all the pertinent details. We had a a party for about 30 people and there would be some vegeterians present, so in addition to the asada, pastor and pollo, for a little more price, they would also provide cheese quesadillas, grilled veggies and beans with no lard. It was all delicious and a runaway hit at the party. Hugo showed up a couple hours before the party to set up and prepare everything. Our party was on the rooftop of my residence in downtown LA that was built in 1924 and includes a a very narrow and steep stirway that one most ascend to get to the roof. Although I happily helped Hugo with some of his equipment both before and after the party, he was more than willing and able to handle by himself....he was amazing. I hope to use Lety's again in the future. And btw, all the reports about the generous quantity of leftovers is very true...they give you more than enough and you will be feasting on that incredibly tasty pastor for several meals afterwards. read more

They showed up early and got everything set up/ready to go before any guests arrived. the food was DELICIOUS and they brought way more than we needed so now we're living off leftovers for the next few days. Amazing! Absolutely amazing! I am a taco freak (ask any of my friends) and these were awesome. My birthday party was an incredible success because these tacos were so fantastic. The taquero who arrived was very friendly and very professional. He arrived an hour early because he wanted everything to be "just right." Days later, my friends are still raving about it. I cannot wait for an excuse to use them again. The only downer was that they forgot to bring the pastor I ordered... so we ran out of tacos early. For my daughter's 2nd birthday, I searched everywhere for a taco cart that comes to your house and cooks on location. I finally came across Lety's catering on chowhound. It got great reviews so I decided to give it a shot. I called and wasn't sure if I got the right number because they don't answer the call stating that you called Lety's catering. They did have to find someone that spoke English, but eventually I was able to speak to someone. I got quotes over the phone and booked my appointment. The lady came an hour before serving time to set up and start cooking. The tacos were a big hit at the party. We ordered 3 meats, pork, carne asada, and chicken. It also included rice and beans and a variety of salsas and garnishes. The lady was very nice and she was able to set up, cook, and serve in 3 digit heat! Since everyone was scarfing the tacos down, I was only left with 3 tacos! It was worth every penny and I loved not having to worry about cooking. I would definitely recommend them to anyone. I would have given them a 5, but they didn't have a fish option which would have been great. I also read that you can ask for a veggie option, with just a little increase in the price. Hired Lettys for a party with lots of kids. Ordered tacos and quesadillas. The polite server arrived on time and served promptly. The server was not told about the quesadillas and did not have cheese. I had ordered them knowing I had picky eater children attending who now has no food to eat. When I spoke to the women who took my order not only did she not try to remedy their mistake she also told me that my price would still be the same because the quesadillas thrown into the package. All I know is that I told them what I needed they provided a price and then didn't provide the agreed on food but still wanted the same payment. Food was ok, nothing special. After researching taco caterers here on Yelp and Chowhoud, my hubby and I went with the oft recommended Lety's. What a mistake! My husband, a Spanish speaker, spoke with with someone initially to set up our order. We ordered 4 types of meat (carne asada, carnitas, al pastor, and chicken) plus rice and beans. About a week before our event, we needed to change the headcount. I thought we would have to wait until pigs fly to get in touch with these people! Awful communication! On the day of our event, the cook showed up early (a plus) but didn't have our rice and beans that we ordered. Furthermore, the meat was poor quality (chewy, tendon-filled yuckiness). Had got this service 4 my sons party. They where cheap to get n for 3hrs, No need for deposit. Person arrived about 30 min late n left early she tried to play that ur guest r not here card but i wanted the food to be ready by the time they got there n stay the min she was late she requested a shady area n a table for the stuff. Tbh tacos didnt taste fresh. My guest disliked the tacos n so did i the carne asada had a lot of fat pieces in it. Here is the break down. Have someone who speaks Spanish order for you if you want your order to come out right. Make them repeat your phone number and address to you before hanging up. Have a medium to large table ready for them to use.(mine was kinda small) Here's the review. Called the company number which is someone's cel phone. Fine. Then was put on hold for 5 min. Okay. There was a lot of noise in the background. Hmmm interesting. Asked for tacos, quesadillas, chips and salsa for 25 people. The woman on the phone took my name, phone number and address but never repeated anything back to me. Ok now I'm a little worried, because her English is broken and my Spanish is non-existent. She says however that she will call me the day before to confirm. At about 6pm the day before I call them. Again a lady picks up. (All I get is a hello) So I say who I am and how I booked their services but never got a confirmation call so I'm calling them to confirm. She says ok. I ask kindly if she can repeat the order back to me. She does, and I tell her to add quesadillas, chips and salsa, since she didn't repeat those. Then I ask her if she has my address. She says yes so I ask her to repeat it back to me. She doesn't and just says " yea I have it." I ask her to please make sure we have the time right. She confirm the right time. But at this point I feel like she'd just trying to get me off the phone. I figure maybe I'm being overly concerned so I get off the phone. Even though I really wanted her to repeat my address back to me. Then the day of I'm stressing out because its 6:30 and the taco guys are 15 minutes late. Then I realized I had a missed call. So I call the number back and it's a random guy telling me that some people were lost so they used his phone to call me. What?! That's so weird but at least now I know their on their way. Well they show up 40 minutes late but everything after they show up goes smoothly. They didn't have the chips and salsa because it wasn't marked on their receipt. I take a look at it and of coarse the address is all wrong and they hadn't even put us down for quesadillas. The only reason I wouldn't recommend them would be the lack of professionalism by the person on the phone. But since in the end it all came together I guess this taco service wasn't that bad. read more

I was feeling pretty discouraged. Cecelia was great. The food was delish!! The salsa and chips were fresh and the beans and rice were nice a tasty. The set up was easy and so was the cleanup. before I knew it they were finished. Erin let me and my party know when the last call for food was. I'm sooo happy I found Lety's Catering Services. I hired Lety's catering for a backyard 40th B-day party, with about 75 guests. They did an amazing job! Rosa and Maria showed up early, got to work setting up, and were as pro as can be. The food was amazing, all the guests loved it. The al Pastor went fairly quickly, everybody loved that. I'm a vegetarian, so I requested that they do grilled veggies, and also that they have lard-free beans and tortillas, and they accommodated without question. Salsas were also delicious. For our daughter's baptism, we decided to go with Tacos, so as I searched for reviews on Chowhound (like the prior review) to decide which catering service to choose from, I chose Lety's as it was the most affordable, with the least negative reviews...AND IT LIVED UP TO THE REVIEW!! Gracias Hugo (the taco warrior) for coming all the way down to Chino for our crazy party. He came by his poor lonesome self in the rain, and set up everything within minutes. He was 40 minutes early too! We had a total of 60 people at our party and it costs $370 for al pastor, chicken and carne asada, red and green salsa, grilled and raw onions, cilantro and jalapenos. The carne asada wasn't so great as it was dry, and bland. Just didn't appear to be marinated at all. The al pastor was pretty good though and their chicken was probably the best out of the 3 meats as it was perfectly marinated, and juicy. Hugo was nice to all our guests, and we will for sure use them again for future parties. read more
