I recently placed 2 catering orders: 1 for pick up and another for delivery to Malibu. Let me start by saying, I've ordered a lot of office catering in the past in my line of work (for the last 20 years). Rutt's Catering is hands down, by far, the best catering experience I have ever had. It was so good, I had to email the owner and here is what I said: ---- Hi Paul, You and your team are the best! The service I received from Rutt's Catering was OUTSTANDING. My colleague and I were so impressed with it ALL: Quality (everyone raved about the food--the best we've served them!), temperature (the food was PIPING hot...so hot that we needed mitts to uncover the food), portion (while it didn't look like enough, it was PLENTY), speed of service and promptness (we arrived 10 minutes earlier than our stated pick up time for the 1st order and the last of the order was being packed...we left exactly at the requested pick up time...but even MORE impressive was the food delivery to Malibu for the 2nd order was ALSO on time...was actually 10 minutes early--this has never happened before!), accuracy and packaging of order (everything was labeled clearly, packaged perfectly and nothing was wrong), and EVERYTHING in between (Paul was easy to work with when placing the order...even had a few changes and it wasn't an issue...they even provide name tents/food labels). I'm a big fan of Rutt's and so got the lunch catering for about 24 people. We used the online ordering for pick-up which was convenient and easy. Food was ready right for pick-up time and came fresh and hot and as requested for our group. It was delicious and wonderful portion sizes and was an absolute hit for my party. Ordered catering for about 70 people (breakfast). We ordered half French toast and half pancakes with eggs, potatoes, bacon and impossible sausage. The food was a hit! Service was quick and easy (online ordering). Yes, they deliver for a fee but you can always pick up as well. Food was delivered on time and with care. Piping hot and fresh. Our experience was wonderful. The food was delicious, especially the short ribs. They delivered to Little Tokyo from the westside location and the price was incredibly reasonable. This was a funeral service for a beloved husband and friend and the food was prepared with the utmost care and love and it was the perfect ending to a sad but beautiful celebration of life. I ordered Thanksgiving catering from here for my company and our experience here was generally great! We went with Combo #1 and there were around 12 of us. The portion was pretty good for our group size. We even had lots of leftovers. For some of the food items: -Chopped Turkey: Both the white and dark meats were juicy, succulent and flavorful. However, I do wish there was a larger meat ratio relative to all the sides. It also was a bit messy with the juices, so I would recommend even tighter packing. -Mashed Potatoes: Perfectly creamy and buttery. -Stuffing: Soft and flavorful. -Green Bean Casserole: Creamy and the green beans were cooked well. I would suggest putting the fried onion topping on the side so it could be crunchy. I'm not the biggest fan of Thanksgiving foods and I think this spread was great! Ordering and coordinating the order was relatively easy. I do wish the email etiquette and general communication was more professional though. We also received our order a bit later than scheduled, but I was told they were short on drivers for that day. I also liked the insulated bag the food came in. Overall, a good experience here and I would consider ordering catering from here again. read more

Rutts for Hawaiian luau birthdays are the best. I had 80 people a couple years ago and this year 110. Joann is excellent to work with and always has a good attitude with a quick response when you need something!! She is the reason I came back again this year to have my bday event catered by Rutts. Food comes extra hot w aluminum trays that go directly on heating trays. We have done the combos for large orders and switched items out we didn't need, which was helpful! The mac salad paired w the boneless beef and rice is my favorite. Love this restaurant! Phenomenal management. read more

Rutt's really saved the day. Last Saturday, we had a 1pm funeral reception for 250 ppl. At 12:30pm, we arrived at the reception hall to find the caterer we booked weeks ago had yet to show up...And they were ghosting our phone calls. In a panic, I called Rutt's Catering explained our dire situation and need for food, and they snapped into action! Rutts catered an event (anniversary celebration of our business). We had over 100 people attend. We had ordered a catered breakfast (eggs, bacon, vegan sausage, pancakes, French toast, vegetable royale and Hawaiian meat royale). We also paid for 2 of their staff to serve. It was simple but elegant at the same time. Food was very good, staff was exceptionally pleasant and helpful. The servers set up, served of course and cleaned up at the end. I catered for an all staff lunch last spring/summer. The portions were pretty large, and they actually delivered it to my work place for a small fee. We ordered chicken and beef along with rice and noodles. We also ordered a healthier 1/2 tray of chicken.We also added some fresh fruit-this was a HIT! I can always depend on them for good food and on time delivery/pick up when I am ordering for 30 or 120 people. I had an event over the weekend and had to have them deliver my order for 120+ people. The food was on time, hot, looked, smelled and tasted amazing. I had a lot of people at my event asking where the food was from because it was so delicious. Rutt's is definitely 5 stars all around.
