I was really looking forward to trying some authentic American Soul food after our office manager announced that we were ordering catering from Grandmas House, and I researched the background behind this place. I wasn't expecting fried chicken, but I have to say this place offered way more healthy options and variety than I was expecting. The highlights of my experience were the fried chicken, corn bread, and the super cheesy mac n cheese. The herbs and the crispiness of the chicken was definitely a league above any thing I've had at fast food places that serve fried chicken. The seasoning was done just right without any of bit of saltiness. I am not sure what kind of cheese was used, but the mac n cheese had a firmness to the cheese that was refreshing (I don't like my mac n cheese too runny), and the flavor profile of the cheese tasted of a high end caliber. Corn bread was just the best darn corn bread I've had, with mild sweetness, strong corn flavor, and even good bits of corn mixed in. Very moist and tender, yet crumbles a bit when you handle it. Mixed greens were crisp and fresh and really balanced out the meal with much needed fiber for me. I felt the mushroom and string beans were pretty good, but nothing earth shattering. The shrimp on skewer sticks I felt were a little dry and plain so I don't recommend this as highly as the other items. Sheperd's pie was made from a ground beef layer along with a top layer of mashed sweet potato. The potato layer was very delicious, but the bottom meat layer could have used a little less salt IMO. Overall I had a very positive experience, and even my kids sampled a little of everything. They echoed my sentiments, except for the sheperd's pie, which my daughter was not a fan of. read more

I called Grandmas House Catering for a last minute breakfast order the following day, and although I was past the cutoff time Rhonda was SO sweet and agreed to fill the order for us. There breakfast food is our company's favorite, and the food always arrives hot and fresh. Morgan was our delivery driver and she was amazing. She was prompt, friendly, and went out of her way to give me a call to make sure she placed the delivery in the correct area. After deciding not to cook this year, we shopped around for caterers. Since GHC had good reviews we decided to move forward with ordering a fried turkey dinner for Thanksgiving. Fast forward to day of, we go pick up the food and it is cold as ice. Turkey is dry and cold. Macaroni and cheese looks as if the just pulled it out of the fridge. After scouring the menu, we were so excited to order the Bourbon Street Shrimp and Crabcakes and just sorry we already planned on other food - because, the menu! We had a great experience with Rhonda & Mario from the very beginning. We booked them for our wedding over a year in advance, knowing we wanted down home, comfort food for our reception. I probably called her 3 or 4 times randomly throughout the year with random questions about what we might need or details about how they planned to set up and she was always very available. On the big day, she arrived 2 hours early to scope out our space and set up so she wouldn't be making any noise moving things around during our ceremony. The food was deeeelicious, as it had been at the tasting. You know... I was recommended by a credible source to try out Grandma's House Catering & Cookies and was hoping that I would be able to use them again for my future parties. I simply asked if they could do a Mickey Mouse cakepop (kind of a preview of what they can do) and WOW.... a SERIOUS disappointment. Definitely do NOT trust this company to do any of your baked goods or desserts. They don't know what they're doing. I asked for something simiple like the picture I'm attaching of a mickey mouse cake pop and I ended up with melted cake pops. The person who delivered the cake said she even had some spill on her while she was driving. They arrived to my home unwrapped and unpresentable. What a serious embarrassment and the talk of the town. Seriously... if they couldn't do the job right, then don't take the order. This past Thanksgiving I wanted to try a deep fried turkey for the first time. I found Grandma's House through Yelp and I saw the very high reviews. So I decided to give them a call and I'm glad I did! I met with Mario and Ronda at the Torrance Farmers Market and they were very friendly. They gave me a sample of their fried turkey. It was so GOOD! I placed my order and let them know that I wouldn't need the Turkey until the day after Thanksgiving. Mario said no problem, just let him know when I will be serving dinner and they will deliver it to me right on time. The day of the dinner Mario and Ronda delivered the turkey just like they promised, right before my family arrived. I have to say this was the best turkey I've ever had (next to my grandmother's of course...*wink*). It was so juicy and flavorful. Even my grandmother like it, which in my opinion is saying a lot! Great story and AWESOME food!! We had them cater an event for us recently and it is by far some of the best BBQ we have ever had and hands-down the BEST baked beans. The ribs were fall-off-the-bone delicious and the chicken was moist and juicy. I am a cole slaw junkie and they make top notch slaw. I'm also a mac and cheese junkie and theirs was OK. I like mine burned a bit on top and with more cheese. It was a bit dry. All i all a great experience. I would recommend them to everyone!! read more
