After some interactions through text, a picture of what I wanted, and instructions that I wanted a 1" trim from the bottom length and a relayer, I scheduled my appointment a few days later. This spot is VERY Chinese. Lots of banter in the language but I liked the energy it gave. A little bit of a language barrier but I tried to keep it short and brief, and we "communicated" through photos of what I wanted, and what he could do. Almost all the chairs were full. I brought my son with me and everyone was nice to him (-: He was able to sit on a chair and wait for me while I had my hair done. Ming gave me exactly what I wanted. Basically a refresh. They were able to shampoo and rinse my hair, I was put in the chair, Ming and I had an exchange, and he went to work with precision and expertise. QUICKLY may I add.. I found my local salon. I have had layered haircuts at other salons before, so I know what a layered haircut should look like. I kept explaining what I wanted, but the stylist kept telling me that he was giving me layers when the result clearly did not look like the layered style I showed him. It felt more like a bang trim with my hair cut shorter. I was also very uncomfortable because the stylist had a very strong cigarette/smoke smell on his breath during the service, which made the experience unpleasant. If the stylist couldn't achieve the style I requested, I would have preferred him to be honest and explain that before cutting my hair shorter. As a first-time customer, I left feeling very upset and disappointed.

I showed her a photo of the hairstyle I wanted. The side-swept bangs were supposed to be longer, with only a small amount of shorter pieces to create a natural, blended look. Unfortunately, Zoe miscalculated the length, and a large portion of my bangs was cut too short. I didn't want bangs that simply covered my forehead, I wanted them to look soft and natural. The final result looked nothing like what I had requested. After I pointed this out, Zoe asked me to show her the reference photo again. Once I did, she insisted that my bangs looked the same as the ones in the picture. No, they absolutely did not. She even said, "You didn't know it would look like this?" Of course I didn't, because this was not the style I wanted, nor did it resemble the bangs in the photo I had shown her. Throughout the conversation, I remained polite and tried to communicate my concerns calmly, but she defended every aspect of her work. Then, she kept cutting my hair, I feel like I should've stopped her at that moment but I didn't know if she was finishing up or trying to fix it, but my hair looks frizzy now after too much trimming. The rest of the haircut was not what I expected as well including the back and the sides. I feel like she lacks the skills to work with face shapes and the ability to understand what customer wants. Another thing is that if you don't use Zelle or Venmo, you will have to pay at least $100 to pay with your Visa card. The haircut was $80, and I had to pay $20 more for tip and/or a fee which is 25% more, for a bad haircut, can you imagine that?

It was my second time coming in, and since my hair had grown out, I just needed a trim cleaning up the sides while keeping the length on top. Karl Cheung was my stylist, and he was fantastic. He immediately understood what I wanted and executed it perfectly. I also had my hair washed before the cut and tried a down perm for the first time, which made a huge difference since my hair tends to stick up and get unruly. Overall, the experience was great the vibe, the music, and how clean everything was really stood out. And honestly, for the quality, the price (even with tip) at $153 felt totally worth it. After about 6 months after my first haircut with her, and the tips she's provided, my hair is low key thriving! Let's start off with location... She's located downtown Hayward off B Street. Although, parking kinda sucks, and it is the Main Street with so many cars, her place is so cute! Inside her place, there plenty of seating, and a lot of chairs available. For the most part, whenever I go see her, I'm probably the only other client inside - just incase you guys get nervous for Covid reasons. Nancy is so welcoming. She starts off asking you what you want to do with your hair, and she observes and starts framing your face to see if you would like it and gives out suggestions as needed. Then she washes your hair, and then she begins the cut. She's so knowledgable in the industry. She given me helpful advice on how to maintain my hair. For reference, I've always had to wash my hair daily because it's always getting so oily. So she's given me tips on how to prevent it. And after 6 months of following tips, and seeing what works for me, my hair is fuller, healthier, and thriving as I've mentioned.
