My absolute favorite florist in North County! Debbie is a doll and puts such care and love into her arrangements. This isn't the run of the mill florist, their flowers are fresh and potted plants are reasonably priced. Check out their hand poured soy candles too! The nag champa is my favorite scent.

The Plant Lady seems like a funky place from the outside as many Leucadia businesses do as they all first opened in the 70's and very few have changed. But anyway this little plant shop has had several owners over the years but still manages to maintain its quaintness. They do great floral hanging baskets and fresh flowers as well. The gift shop is very sweet with gardening type items. I bought really cool decorative switchplates here once. They now sell custom wood patio furniture as well. They recently changed their business name to Leucadia Floral for their fresh cut side of the business.

    Just "hanging" out. That's funny.

I've been going to Debbie for flowers for my girlfriend turned fiancé turned wife for over 3 years now. The thing is... It's not just the arrangements or how willing she was to get them delivered for me even when I was deployed...it's that she genuinely cares. She cares about the person making the right choices, she cares about what you want, and she cares about keeping with your intent. Before our March wedding, we hadn't really contemplated who our florist would be. We stopped into to ask Debbie if she did weddings; the rest was history. First rate details, creative ideas, and the entire planning process revolving strictly on my wife's desires and our budget. She even met with us and my in-laws (who were visiting from the East Coast) at the shop for an hour before it even opened. I wish I could give more details, but let me summarize this way: we dropped by recently with a friend who is getting married but hadn't quite had the greatest vibes from south county florists. Debbie sat with us and started firing questions away and establishing the rapport out friend desperately wanted. Oh.. This was on a Saturday during working hours. It's like she put things work on hold for the bride-to-be. Needless to say our friend said "it's like night and day compared to everyone else I've seen. We've found our florist." So... for apologetic flowers, a wedding, or even a landscape job look no further.

The Plant Lady's tropical arrangement. My mom loved it!

This is located off of Piraeus Street that runs along the Northbound 5fwy. We entered Piraeus from Leucadia Boulevard. The commercial entrance came up first, then the regular customer entrance, thanks to their clear signs. It was mid-afternoon on a Thursday in January, so maybe that's why the nursery lot was kind of empty the further we went in. At the front area though, there were poinsettia trees still in bloom. I didn't even know that they can grow into trees (they don't last very long after the holidays in my care, lol), so I was actually fascinated to see them so big. They also had a fenced area with 2 small goats, possibly pygmy goats...so cute and friendly. Considering the cold weather, they had a good selection of healthy cacti, potted flowers and plants at reasonable prices (i.e., 4" pot of succulent $5.99, 6pk annuals/perennials $4.99). The bigger shrubs like hydrangea and hebe coed were more expensive ($26.99 and $28.99, respectively), but beautifully kept. We had no plans to garden any time soon so didn't plan on buying anything, but ended up getting some plant accessories, including a car-shaped ceramic planter that kiddo really liked, lol. Service was okay. We were the only ones there and took our time browsing, but no one asked if we needed help. The woman at the cash register wasn't rude, but not particularly friendly either.

They reproduce quickly And the life span is a month. I have a greenhouse and 50 plants in my house. I asked for a refund and he said no and just sprayed the plant down with I'm assuming is neem oil. But now I have to separate this plant leave it outside, hose it down kill the bugs and constantly repeat it till they're all gone. To be honest, I just wanted my $43 stock and I can get this plant somewhere else.. I 100% will never recommend this place to anyone

I have completely fallen in love with this gem of a nursery in Encinitas. I have been searching for…read morerare plants all over North County and have found that this has the best selection and best value for rare houe plants. This whole rack of plants came from Cordova, and not a single one can be found at any other nursery for these affordable prices (think 25%-50% of the price you'd find online). I have found several White Princess and Pink Princess Philodendron that have made exquisite gifts for the holidays. The most amazing Philodendron I found was the Jose Bueno, its leaves are easily at least 18" and I snagged it for 1/3 the online price! I have also found Swiss Cheese Monstera, as well as Thai Constellation and Albo varieties. My other amazing find has been their String of Turtles and String of Hearts, which are very rare as compared to the more typical string of pearls. The owner shared with me that he's been in business for over 38 years! He is super knowledgeable and has a vast inventory (hence the competitive pricing). The plants are all super healthy, and I've not had a single pest interloper from their collection. I have never left this nursery without finding what I was looking for. So if you're looking for presents this season (prepare to wow all of your friends and family while not breaking the bank) or want to expand on your rare house plant collection, this is your spot. Go before I buy all their plants.

However you have to be home, they have to be in your area ect so when it was taking a bit to get some from our normal suppliers we just decided to buy some. We figured it must be better quality as well since it was a only a few miles from us and we were paying a decent price. Once it got here we did our usual thing and spread it everywhere we have open space, around our planter boxes, ect. Now that we have had it for a few months though we are feeling duped. This is the opposite of what multch is supposed to do. There are weeds everywhere in our yard. No they cannot be from before because we have always had clover here and there and hand pull knowing that some will come back. These are weeds of all types that we have never had (mallow, dandelion ect). There are also mushrooms and even nasturtium growing. I am so disappointed as now it will be pretty much impossible to get rid of all these without chemicals. So don't buy mulch here. Just get it fresh out of the tree trimmers truck.
