For pots (not POT, I know the store is in Encinitas and all) and fountains, this place is well worth a visit. The pottery here is very nice looking. If I had more money, I would have purchased more stuff. I guess I need to work harder. We purchased a fountain here and the quality is great. Prices are very reasonable, too. We first looked at the various nurseries in town and their prices for fountains were far higher. Delivery, at a fee, was easy peasy. Service was also very friendly. Easy, free street parking (use the side street or street behind the store--usually, much easier than parking on the 101). I don't shop for pots (or pot) or fountains that often, but I would gladly return. Give these folks a try. read more

We had a wonderful experience here and throughout the delivery process. The customer service we experienced was truly the best. Stacey was so friendly and happy to help us go through what we were thinking of adding to our landscape design and what we could put where. Her ideas were brilliant. We had a blast both times we visited. Whomever arranged the way they display the pots and fountains is very talented. They showcased everything in such a way that you can easily find just what you are looking for, while keeping the area so relaxing and beautiful like a mini oasis. This place is a must visit. Originally we planned to add only a fountain or two, we had pause on those until after our boulder delivery arrives to see what fountain would look best as the centerpiece. Until then we decided to add two huge pots first. However, a few pots somehow became a truckload!! I swear, Stacey should switch to selling homes full time! Lol she is the best! Stacey needs a promotion, she did a wonderful job handling everything for us! We absolutely LOVE the selection we ended up with!!! Thank You again for helping replace the ones that were damaged, the replacements are even better than before!!! Years ago, saying the words "Holy sh**, that's a lot of pots!" would have definitely meant I was at a different type of business. Now that A. I'm old and lame, and B. Weed is legal and there's dispensaries all over Southern California, that exclamation means I'm at a nursery/gardening store. Besides coming up with the Best. Name. Ever. for a place that sells pots, the owners definitely do a nice job with this shop. There's a great selection of shapes, styles, colors, and quality. They also do have non-pot things like benches and other items to help train plants in your yard. The customer service was really friendly, and I walked away with a few nice additions that will hopefully give me some confidence while I work towards that green thumb. read more

We went here a couple weeks to get a handful of garden items - pots and wall decor. Fortunately, the lady who helped us was SUPER nice so it couldn't be the one who has been written up previously. Or else she had some bad days and is over it! Anyway, kind of a small place, but a nice selection... we got a free North County newspaper across the street next to a Mexican restaurant and saved some $$$. Every little bit helps! Very attractive pottery store with plenty of styles, from Asian to classic Mexican to more contemporary. Cool fountains, great if you have a house with a beautiful backyard, this would be a perfect shopping place. This place is great! Not only do they have great inventory, their customer service is top notch. We purchased a fountain from them about a year and a half ago. They delivered it, set it up, and gave us pointers on maintaining the fountain. We recently had some of the lights go out so I called them about replacing the lights. Even though the lights were out of warranty, they went above and beyond to get the lighting company to replace them for free. When the lights came in, they installed them and even helped me clean out the fountain and pump. Friendly, competent, responsive customer service! I highly recommend Madd Potter. read more

They have a large selection of....pots! from Asia. China, Vietnam, etc. Some are from Mexico, but not many. Their prices are very reasonable. They definitely have plants, but focus much more on pots, fountains, etc. Most of the plants there were succulents. It seems like they focus on plants that are easy to grow in the local climate, which is nice. They told me they make custom fountains, and I did see various unique and beautiful fountains there. They carry bags of Spanish moss at what seems like a reasonable price, I'm not really an aficionado on the moss. Tucked away a few blocks west of downtown, this place is full of small succulants and water plants. There specialty though is their selection of pots and garden decor. Love it! They should have named this as "mad" potter. The lady who works here has some attitude. She also has no integrity. When we were inquiring about availability of a particular pot, she said the vendor is not delivering that model any more. Then we asked does the Fallbrook one have it? (as we weren't clear whether the model was completely discontinued or only discontinued here in Encinitias). She got really mad at us and gave very nasty answer. And also every time we called her to check on availability of another model, she kept telling us lies that she will get it in 2 days...3 or 4 weeks past, we finally drove to Fallbrook and got the one we wanted! My husband and I went to the Madd Potter to look for/purchase a fountain. On our first trip we had great service. Then I called in and a lady I spoke with was very unhelpful. I thought it was a coincidence, but then we went in for a second time and I couldn't believe how rude a worker was to us. I think she was in charge too. The person I was with the second time was shocked and it was clear that this woman didn't want us to spend a dime there. I am surprised by all the good reviews. 8 weeks...really 8 weeks for special order. When we purchased the pots for approx $900, we were told 5-6 weeks but that it is "NEVER" that long. Well, it is...8 weeks on Saturday and pots are due in on Monday (so fingers crossed). Didn't realize weather permitted pots to be delayed but I guess you learn something new everyday. Honestly, just tell me the truth that you forgot to put the order in. I understand people make mistakes but just make it right!! I wanted to like this place but with no empathy of "I'm sorry" for the inconvenience factor or anything. Please learn some "customer service 101". Before purchasing a Living Social deal of $25 for $50 worth of merchandise at The Madd Potter, HG and I cased it out to make sure the prices weren't just twice as high. I found an adorable talavera donkey for $56 that I've been coveting, and asked the lady to hold him for me until I bought the certificate. She didn't hesitate at all, but I later feared that she would think better of selling him at such a discount. It took a couple of days before I got back there, and she brought him out saying he had been crying for me last night - my kind of person! How did she know I often have to snatch my gnomes out from under HG's vigorous shovel, gasping "My precious!"? Luckily I bought two of the LS deals because they had some unusually shaped terracotta pots at 30% off, and she applied that to some much fancier planters too. Nothing inspiring in the way of plants, but it seems the turn-over in interesting pots and fountains is pretty brisk, so I'll check them out again - especially if I don't find any bargains in Mexico. read more
