This is located off of Piraeus Street that runs along the Northbound 5fwy. We entered Piraeus from Leucadia Boulevard. The commercial entrance came up first, then the regular customer entrance, thanks to their clear signs. It was mid-afternoon on a Thursday in January, so maybe that's why the nursery lot was kind of empty the further we went in. At the front area though, there were poinsettia trees still in bloom. I didn't even know that they can grow into trees (they don't last very long after the holidays in my care, lol), so I was actually fascinated to see them so big. They also had a fenced area with 2 small goats, possibly pygmy goats...so cute and friendly. Considering the cold weather, they had a good selection of healthy cacti, potted flowers and plants at reasonable prices (i.e., 4" pot of succulent $5.99, 6pk annuals/perennials $4.99). The bigger shrubs like hydrangea and hebe coed were more expensive ($26.99 and $28.99, respectively), but beautifully kept. We had no plans to garden any time soon so didn't plan on buying anything, but ended up getting some plant accessories, including a car-shaped ceramic planter that kiddo really liked, lol. Service was okay. We were the only ones there and took our time browsing, but no one asked if we needed help. The woman at the cash register wasn't rude, but not particularly friendly either.

When I got to the nursery, It look like another mom pops little nursery place from the exterior, but to my surprise, this place appears bigger than the Costco parking lots combined, jammed packed with trees. It can be overwhelming because of the large selections. Every trees appeared to be thriving and healthy, with many already have fruits. The place was big so I was clueless where to begin. Thank God Gio found me. He is so knowledgeable, professional, kind, funny, and has lots of patience to deal with a picky and curious person like me. He takes his time to show me around. I was lucky to try many different selections of fruits, some I can compared to store bought and many I haven't heard of. The fruits you get from the nursery tasted so much different than the store bought one, more fresh and flavorful in my opinions. I ended up buying a couple trees and am looking forward to buy more in the future. This is my new favorite nursery to visit and highly recommend to anybody who wants to buy quality plants from people who know their products well. Their price is decent and candid. The experience from start to finish was refreshing and fun, and thanks to Gio, I walked out feeling happy and confident of my purchase.

I found Jungle Music Palms in a Google search for bromeliads in San Diego. The nursery is only a…read morecouple miles from my home, and I hoped to find a few small scale, shade loving bromeliads. I wandered the garden and finally located the owner in the trailer. Phil asked an employee to show me their bromeliads. I found most of the bromeliads to be very old stock, in terrible condition, and most too large for my space. We finally located what the employee called a small "Casablanca" bromeliad in a reddish hue with white speckles. Of course it was not labeled with ID or price. I was told to go ask Phil for a price. Phil seemed more interested in my contact info and email than actually identifying the specimen. He finally said, "It's a rare bromeliad" (uh oh), and quoted me $70. I was expecting less than half that for a 6" plant. Needless to say, I left without purchasing the bromeliad. I'll try Bird Rock Tropicals next.

I have had Jungle Music in my book marks for awhile now. When I was on the search for a brahea…read moredecumbens palm, Jungle Music came up. This nursery has a wide variety of palms that cannot be bought elsewhere - in this case I have been searching for a brahea decumbens & no where on the internet has it (even seeds are sold out everywhere). For some reason the transaction of acquiring this palm was way more difficult than needed. The first attempt (phone call to Phil, the owner) was made on June 30th, & I was told to call back the first week of July. Then I called July 2nd, & 3rd. I was then told that there wasn't any Brahea Decumbens received & to call in a month. I also was told to check the blog as that is updated daily. So I have been checking the blog daily as instructed & out of the blue (Friday July 25th) I called to check & then was told from Phil "Sorry we sold out 2 weeks ago, we sold out in 3 or 4 days." I then received an email from Jesse who apologized for the frustration of the situation. He went above & beyond to help out by making phone calls & locating a brahea decumbens. The day the delivery came he let me know & sent me a photo of the best palm out of the 4 - 5 they received. I was able to purchase the palm over the phone that same day. Tracking was never emailed which is annoying. This palm wasn't cheap by any means but if you're looking for hard to find palms & surely don't mind paying more, it's may be worth checking here. I am happy with my purchase, however the box wasn't marked to keep it upright so the box was laying on its side when I was able to retrieve it on my doorstep. This could have been avoided by having arrows on the box showing the correct orientation so the UPS driver could place it properly upon delivery. Hopefully Phil can see this review & take into consideration of the customer for areas of improvement.

I am not sure if there are normally signs, but parking was tight and there were only a few spots so perhaps don't come in a massive vehicle. I was amazed by the selection of air plants and bromeliads. Everything was so healthy and well organized. The pricing is the lowest I have seen anywhere for tillandsias. There was a plant I really wanted, Tillandsia purpurea 'Shooting Star', and it came in 3 sizes and thus 3 price ranges. Very affordable plants for anyone starting out or on a tight plant budget. I also picked up a generous clump of Spanish moss. Tillandsia usenoides, for a few bucks.

This is located off of Ocean View Avenue towards the cul-de-sac. It's in a residential neighborhood so there's no lot, and street parking becomes limited during these open houses. We arrived about 12:30pm on Saturday, and were able to find one spot nearby. This appears to be a small nursery from the outside, but it's actually pretty big as it goes deep inside. They have multiple big greenhouses with tons of unusual species. There was a sign at the entrance to leave purses and backpacks in the car. I had my purse on me, but didn't know until we got there. I understood why when I went inside the first greenhouse. The rows are setup pretty tight. There's also rows of epiphytes, making it really tight from top to bottom, so I had to carry my purse on my chest the whole time in order to not disturb anything. Although it was March, a lot of the plants were not in bloom or perhaps newly propagated so I just saw green everywhere and got bored; disappointed that I wasn't able to see the different flowers (not the nursery's fault). It's been cold this year so maybe it'll be more colorful later on? Also, pricing wasn't clear, and a lot were not for sale (some were marked "Not for Sale" or "NFS," but others weren't marked at all although they weren't on sale either). I get it, it's normally not open to the public (just by appointment only or during their open houses) so it's not really setup to accommodate regular customers like us. Their next open house is in June (6/20-6/22/25) so we might come back then to see if there are more blooms and if some of the ones we were looking at will be propagated for sale. They also will be at South Coast Plaza's Spring Garden Show in April (4/24-4/27/25).

Their selection is mostly south american and east asian but they have orchids from every continent. The facility is very well organized, maintained and labled. The staff are eager to share all of their orchid knowledge and are very friendly. Their prices are shockingly reasonable considering the beautiful condition of their orchids. I died and went to orchid heaven. We will be back next spring!!
