We had a referral from a contractor to go out and see them for a custom shower glass install, it started off with the 2 young gurls out front not knowing what a pony wall was and then led into one if the installers suggesting the gurls read up on what they are selling. They also apparently dont service the oceanside area which seems a little weird considering it's only about 25 miles. My wife was the one visiting the store and felt as though she was completely disregarded, I may re-visit the store myself to see if I get the same response, but it makes you wonder right? read more

Their convenient showroom in Leucadia has everything you need to make informed choices, and Spencer was extremely helpful in guiding me through all the options for a shower door replacement. When Dallas came out to install the new door I ordered, he found a problem with the shower curb and advised it needed repair prior to installing the new door. He was forthright and clear about the risks of moving forward without repairing the faulty tile work from an upgrade by the prior homeowner. Once repaired, Dallas was back and completed the installation without further delay. I highly recommend Leucadia Glass, their products, and their services. Spent good money on shower glass install with these folks and they used 3" screws on the job penetrating through all layers of protective coating for the shower which months later had caused water to leak down into the wood superstructure destroying the shower. Everyone makes mistakes, but it's the way they handled the situation once it happened that really shocked me. Instead of trying to work with my tile installer (who was aiming to please the entire time) and GC (also very easy to work with) to resolve the issue amicably they played games and attempted to get out of taking responsibility. They did however agree to come back out and reinstall after some back and fourth and I made an appointment 2 weeks out, taking a half day off work to be here for them. 30 minutes before they were to show up at my door, they call and leave a message saying they've decided that they won't come out because it's "not built to code" (it is). They lied to me and said it didn't meet Carlsbad regs for shower installs. I called the city of Carlsbad personally, which told me in no uncertain terms we don't have city regs for shower installs, and to follow state codes - which are the codes we followed. Then they said well, where's your permit? We can't do the work without a permit. I said, hey, you took my money and did the job WITHOUT asking for a permit, and now that you screwed up you are asking for paperwork? Classy... There's no excuse for jerking the customer around like that - on top of making a mistake during the install, AND attempting to weasel out of doing good work, they lied to my face. I would strongly recommend looking elsewhere - if and when there is a problem with their work, Leucadia glass will do anything and everything to avoid taking responsibility. After my experience, I can tell you I wouldn't even go with them if they offered to do the job for free, because it is going to cost you later. And I have pictures and voicemails to support all of this, by the way... UPDATE: The response below is full of lies. I haven't had a single leak since having the work redone correctly (3+ years now) - and yes, the shower was hot mopped to code from the start! I never went back to the shop, or showed the hotmop to them (not sure how I would even do that) - his story is made up. Talk is cheap - I have photographic evidence and will never forget how you guys screwed up left my tile installer and GC to clean up the mess from your piss poor execution. Couldn't give them one star because I didn't hire them. But if the rest of their service is anything like the manager who answers the phone there should be a negative star option. I'm in escrow on a home and the inspector said there are several damaged windows that a licensed window contractor should review and give an estimate to repair/replace. Totally normal. The guy who answered the phone at LC said he'd been in the business 20 years and he's never heard of this. He insisted that I tell him how many windows I needed and give him 50% over the phone. I told him that his company came out and did this exact estimate on the home I just sold, and he insisted they didn't. How shady is this company ??? I was like whatever I'll just call someone else. My master bathroom was recently remodeled. I was looking for quotes on a shower door. I called on a Thursday. The person on the phone said nobody could come quote for a week. In my head I thought, "no biggie." I said to the man on the phone, "I'm all set if you can't come out for a week." Here's why Leucadia got 2 stars. The employee replies, "Most people find our work worth waiting for" (in a snarky tone). I'm ok if you're busy. I'm ok if you don't want to quote my job. I'm NOT ok with getting attitude. Spencer rocks! My friend had been in a short term rental and noticed a crack in the mirrored closet door. She didn't remember seeing it when she moved in, so we decided to fix it. We talked to Home Depot. They suggested a $1000+ replacement. We called Leucadia Glass & Spencer told us it would be $430 +/- to replace the glass in the door. We brought the door down and within seconds Spencer said the crack was "years old". He could tell because of the delamination & a few other technical terms. Bottom line, my friend wasn't responsible. The owner of this business is awful to deal with. We had shower glass put on a year ago on our remodel in guest and primary bathrooms. One of the hinges in the guest bathroom was installed crooked. I called him right after and he said that's due to the tile and there's nothing that could have been done about it...Although none of the other hinges on that shower were crooked. I let that go. Then, the primary bathroom shower door wasn't closing properly, so we had someone come in and fix that so it closed properly. The nice worker that put it in, acknowledged that it was an issue and fixed it and it's been working fine since then. Then a couple of months ago, the black color on one of the hinges/screws in the primary bathroom completely went away to the point where the stainless steel was showing. After less than a year, that should not have happened. None of the other hinges showed any discoloration like that. They came over and replaced that as well. We just called them for another job, to add a door to an existing shower and they sent a worker in (very nice guy btw) to measure and give us a quote. I took the time off from work to be there and he came and measured. I just received a call from the arrogant owner that he doesn't want to bid the job since they've "had many issues with us previously." The three times we've called them have been: 1. The crooked hinge (which they did nothing about and we just let it go) 2. The dysfunctional shower door, which they came na fixed 3. The corroded hinge that needed replacement and they replaced... If you call him to stand behind his work, he either won't do it, or he will complain and black ball you since he only likes mainly dealing with home flippers and contractors that don't really care about customer service and quality control and pass on the unprofessional work to the home owner. Stay away, if you want to deal with a business that does the job right the first time or actually stands behind their work. These guys have gotten too arrogant over the last few years since construction business has been booming and couldn't care less about their customers and their workmanship. Stay away. REPLY TO THE ARROGANT OWNER: Your "lol" and "read between line" comments speak for themselves. You also misquoted me: I said, "I'm forced to now write a bad review because of your disgusting behavior and horrible experience." I never said that "even though you already did a good job on my other two showers." Your motto should be "Ripping off customers for 50 years!" About time to call it quits. read more

Super responsive, super helpful, made a super-hero repair to a very, very old dilapidated aluminum window at a very reasonable expense. They ended up charging me less than what was quoted, which was way less than what I expected and made a clever long-term repair. No one else wanted to even go out and look at it. This is the first time that I used Leucadia Glass and I am giving them 5 stars. I had them remove several large 8 foot mirrors that were glued to my wall which is a very difficult, tedious and dangerous job to do. In fact, many other glass companies that I called did not want to do it because it's a difficult job. When I called to get an estimate over the phone and set up service with them, the staff on the phone was very nice, cordial and they went out of their way to help me. I also want to say that the two installers today Jeff and George, did a fantastic job removing the mirrors without tearing up my home or my walls and they cleaned up very well after they finished the job. I'm going to refer my friends and family to Leucadia Glass after my great experience today so I would recommend to anyone who read my review that Leaucadia Glass is highly recommended after what I experienced today... Our family has made an effort to use the services of our local, family owned, Mom and Pop type businesses. So we called Leucadia Glass to service and tighten the hinges on our master shower door. Unfortunately, our experience with Leucadia Glass for this small task has been an extremely difficult and unpleasant experience. The lack of professionalism and customer service will surely leave a bad taste in your mouth. The service technician informed us they could not tighten the hinges (which have been done in the past) and we would need new hinges, which they didn't make any longer. Therefore, we would need a whole new door and hinge system. Our plan, which was expressed to the service technician, is to remodel this bathroom in the near future, but for the safety of ourselves and our grandchildren, we wanted to be sure it was properly secured. We did not want to spend an absorbonant amount of money on a new door. We did, however, request that they remove the door for $200 until we could obtain an estimate for the replacement and research other hinge options from other service providers. They removed the door and informed us that they had to take it back to the shop to give us an accurate bid. Didn't argue with the service technician. They later contacted us to inform us the replacement would be approximately $800 (in addition to the $200 we paid to have it removed). We declined the bid and requested they return, not reinstall, but return the door. They told us they threw the door away. We were very confused. Why would they do that? In an effort to have them rectify the situation we spoke with the owner's son to try and work something out. We were treated so poorly! This is not what one would expect from a family owned and operated business. After an unsuccessful phone call we decided to go in to the store and speak with the owner. We, again, spoke with the son. He argued and tried to tell us what happened at the appointment, which he was not present for, as well as, continually telling us we were wrong and eventually told us we were lying. The absurdity and immaturity of this individual as acting owner of this business is most definitely an embarrassment to the business his family worked so hard to build. The sheer lack of common courtesy and customer service skills was insulting. So, here we are... out $200 and a shower door. Out of principal alone, this will be taken to the next level. I will Never go back to this place, the people are rude, there is no customer service at all and the snyde remarks were more than I could handle. They all Make you feel as if you are somehow bothering them and they take every chance to put things back on the customer. They recently did protective glass tops for our antique furniture, which are protective and bring out all the beauty of the old wood. WOW is all I can say (and not in a good way)! I called and scheduled an onsite meeting for a project I briefed them on over the phone. When they arrived, I spent over an hour walking the job. A few hours later I get a call telling me they would not be bidding on the project. They are a self- professed "mom and pop" operation. I asked them if they would bid on any one aspect of the job like the shower enclosures. They said no. I would recommend vetting your request before wasting your time. Great Customer Service and craftsmanship. Honest, trustworthy, efficient. I live in a track home that was built in 1984. A glass panel in the fireplace door shattered and the fireplace company that came to look at it called me a few days later to tell me the company that built the fireplace had long gone out of business and all they could do was take the entire front off the fireplace and replace it with a beautiful new front for under $800. A neighbor suggested Leucadia Glass. I called on Monday, got a ballpark estimate over the phone. I brought the frame there, they said it would be 4 days to get the glass and then another day or two to install it. Within an hour I was called with an estimate of under $50. I was hesitant to come in because of the iffy reviews on Yelp, but I needed a small piece of glass replaced, and was too busy to shop around (figured I would just deal with overpaying and the grumpy 'idiots'). When I went in, I was greeted by an extremely friendly older gentleman (owner?) who listened to me patiently & explained my choices clearly. He then called me with a reasonable price quote. When I came back to pick up the glass, a friendly lady greeted me and the same man came to the desk when he heard my voice. He opened the package to ensure I was happy with the match, then walked me out to my car. Everyone I met was very friendly and made me feel welcome (even though it was a small job). After all, the black rubber lining was glued on backwards, but he insisted that I would need to hire their service to come to my house to install the screen door because I don't know how. I think this is great local glass shop. They seem to have the "no job is too small" attitude. They are fast, and have very fair prices. I have had several different kinds of mirrors made and they jump on-board for any project. I always recommend supporting local, small businesses whenever possible. It's too bad they received a couple of bad reviews because I've always found them reasonably priced, selection of products is good and they totally know their business. Their offerings of "designer" glass is excellent and I found just what I wanted. My friend is a General Contractor in Encinitas. I asked him who he recommended to just replace a simple broken glass pane. I ran 3 names of firms by him- and he said "use Leucadia Glass. They are smaller- but less overhead than most shops, as they have been there so long they own the building they are in now." The serviceman that came was on time to the appointment time, and did an outstanding, and painless glass replacement. His name is Ruben, and he was very friendly, and efficient. He also helped trouble-shoot another double-pane sliding glass door problem, that the original installer wanted completely replace, as the vinyl frame appeared to have warped. Ruben took a quick look at it, determined that the frame had been stretched by pulling it closed too hard, and fixed it- NO CHARGE- within 2 minutes. I can not be happier with Ruben and Leucadia Glass- that just saved us about a thousand dollars. Yes- there are still HONEST PLACES out there! "Try them, you'll like them!"
