Hi, my name is Leanne and I have been a proud member of Level 9 Personal Training in Long Beach with Jed Miller, for at least 3 months now. After competing in sport throughout college, years ago, and getting older of course...I found that as some people would say, "I let myself go." Jed's workouts are held outside, and all of the equipment (balance balls, arm and leg weights, discs, and jump ropes etc.) is provided...this was perfect for me. I have been looking around for trainers in the Long Beach area for a few months now and came across Jed at level 9 fitness. I decided to take a chance a couple of weeks ago and try it out by doing the free trial fitness assessment. I was super scared showing up for the first appointment, because I am really out of shape, but I pushed myself a little out of my comfort zone and couldn't be happier so far. Jed has been very focused on helping me meet my goals, he is very attentive to me during my sessions, he is extremely professional, he is intuitive and knows how hard to push me to meet my goals without overdoing it, he is passionate and takes pride in his work. Jed definitely kicks my butt, I enjoy his outdoor training way better than the gym. I still don't look forward to doing the boat or the plank, but he has made me a lot stronger and I have improved tremendously. Jed is an amazing trainer! I used to work out ay the gym by myself and I wasn't getting the results I wanted. After my initial training session I was hooked immediately. Jed created workouts personally for me that focused on the areas I wanted to work on and every session with him is different. Reaching personal fitness goals doesn't get any better than this. I was looking for someone who could help me get my butt back into shape after all of these years of (all things debauchery here) and I had called around a few places and spoke briefly to different trainers about my plans and as soon as I spoke with Jed, I knew he was it. I bought my first 10 session package after my first (free) workout with Jed. There was no question he was the trainer for me. His outdoor workouts are in a convenient location with a beautiful view. He is constantly switching things up and teaching me new moves I never could have thought of myself. It's been 10 sessions now and I have seen a huge difference in my endurance, sleep, waist line, and over all energy. I've even been motivated to work out on my own (that's a shocker for me!) I started out going to one of the boot camps and really liked it. I left every session feeling like I had a tough and worthwhile workout. Shortly after I started doing the one on one training sessions with Jed. It's tough but I always feel great at the end. I've been doing the personal training sessions for about two months and each session is different. I love the variety, it keeps it fun and interesting. I have been coming to Jed's boot camp for 2 1/2 weeks now. I love it! I've seen instance results, I have lost 3 pounds thus far. As someone who's getting back into fitness, Jed offers a lot of work out modifications making the class accessible to all fitness levels. I've seen results working with Jed. I started in a free group class about a year ago. I've had both group boot camp sessions and one-on-one training. I was inconsistent last year, but glad to be back in the saddle now. He has had classes outdoors at the beach (on the grass) which I enjoyed, and also in a park near Belmont Shore. I've really met some awesome people through the boot camp! I started going again this past month, getting a block of sessions to get a better deal. Jed now also has a work studio space which is local/downtown Long Beach which I like, because it's close and I enjoy the music adding to the workout. I have been working out regularly the past 6 weeks, and have seen an increase in energy and feel/look better already. I know it will take more time to get where I want, but feel like I'm on my way! If you want a great trainer that will help you work out hard, but be flexible and not scare you where you don't want to come back, I suggest Jed and Level 9 fitness! I'm giving a 4 now, so that I can re-evaluate after consistent working out with Level 9. Update: Worked another month with Jed since my first rating. I am updating Level 9 now to a 5 star rating. Before training with Jed, I hadn't worked out in months!! I never really pushed myself, mostly because I never knew what to do and because I never enjoyed it. Jed is an absolute awesome personal trainer all around!! I started going to Jed when I was at my absolute worst shape. I remember talking to him over the phone before we met and he sounded excited to help me reach my goals which made my decision to train with him easier. I started working with Jed, not too long after moving to the Long beach area. From the very first time we met Jed worked to accommodate my goals and was very flexible in working around my schedule. My initial goal was to lose a few pounds and then add some muscle. After I began working with Jed, those goals soon changed. We were able to set and hit a great number of goals over the cours of our roughtly 6 months of working together. With Jed the workout was never the same, he was constantly introducing new exercises, and always listening to what I felt like I wanted to work on. He was always very conscious of ym soreness and fatigue. He pushed me, but never to a level that I wasn't completely comfortable with. My progress was described by friends and family as a "transformation". Jed advised me on my diet, as well as what to do on days that we weren't working together. Unfortunately, I am unable to work with Jed anymore as I got a job offer that sent me back to Seattle permanently. I can say with 100% honesty that my biggest regret about leaving wasn't losing the sunshine and beaches, it was losing Jed as a trainer. I have looked quite a bit up here and have been unable to find somebody with near Jed's enthusiasm and ability. I came to Jed about a month before my wedding with goals to primarily tone up my back and arms before the big day. Even with such a short timeline, Jed made me feel confident that I could get the results that I wanted. He curated training sessions to fit my goals and ability, and within just a few sessions, I could feel myself getting stronger and saw visible results. I loved exercising outside, focusing on body weight and resistance training (as I have never been a weight lifter or gym-goer), and I enjoyed that so much of what I learned, I could take back and do in my own home. He was super flexible with scheduling and even met me for a session on the 4th of July for an extra session a week before my wedding. If you are in search of a personal trainer, Jed is the person to work with. I had been contemplating working with a personal trainer for months and my first experience with one was at a 24 hours gym. They gave me a free session and after a full hour workout, I just wasn't impressed. So I looked to yelp, typed in personal training and my results were mostly health clubs. However, I wasn't looking to join another club, I wanted to work one on one. Then I came across level 9 fitness, saw the rave reviews, saw that there was a free trial workout, so I went for it. I sent an email to level 9 fitness really late on a Saturday night and I got a response shortly after. Jed told me that he usually didn't work on Sundays but he'd make an exception for me. That following morning I got my butt whooped. Jed left no doubt in my mind that he was legit and talented. I am now two weeks in his program and I continue to get my butt whooped. The workouts are so challenging and catered to you. The one thing I was worried about when looking for a trainer was whether theyd be able to give me something more challenging and complex than a few squats with some dumbbells. Jed exceeded my expectations! And that's that he doesn't work in a gym with all these machines, he works outside right at the beach. The view by itself is inspiring and motivating. BUYER BEWARE! Jed was full of promises and I signed up for a pricey package of personal training sessions. Once he collected my money which was paid for upfront, I discovered he was way overbooked. My sessions had to fit into HIS schedule and I work a busy full-time job and have limited availability. I also have to travel frequently on a last minute notice so this was not a good fit for me. Jed was difficult to get in touch with and one session he just missed and said I hadn't confirmed soon enough. I lost another session when I was ill and couldn't make it. Several sessions ended after 30 minutes and I was told we were doing "POWER SESSIONS" Funny, I paid for FULL sessions and never knew power sessions were an option. He frequently likes to train in high traffic areas so he can pass out business cards and solicit new business during your training. This was sometimes embarrassing having everyone in the neighborhood going by on their way to work when I am finally breaking out my workout clothes after 5 years of non-use. Jed is a good trainer but a big portion of my goal was weight loss and even sticking to a good diet, these sessions left me STARVING, and I didn't lose a pound. He never did come through and offer the counseling and feedback on my diet and food journal which he promised. He rarely emails, texts or is available over the phone. I recommend you save a lot of money and take some good exercise classes at a gym or some training where you know they will stand behind their trainers if you are not happy. If you decide to work with Jed, be prepared to possibly work out in the pouring rain in a pitch dark park or very very earl in the morning when your whole neighborhood is off to work. GET A SCHEDULE TIME that works for you in writing before you pay, don't expect any help with the diet/nutrition portion other than a email list of foods and a cheat day once a week.
