I saw the Level Five Painting crew doing a spectacular job on a friend's house. I asked about the estimate for the work, and was pleasantly surprised. For two years, I had been intermittently stripping the 40 year-old, badly stained and cracked paint off my house, getting nowhere on a DIY job, because I was sure I couldn't afford a professional paint job. Got a fair, thorough, and affordable estimate from Juan, but that was just the beginning. The care, quality, and thoroughness of their prep work was jaw dropping. My house was badly deteriorated and I would have said "good enough" long before it met their standards. It has taken me awhile to write this review. After seeing Juan's crew painting several houses in the neighborhood last fall, and doing excellent work I contacted them for an estimate. His wife told me it may be a few months wait, I said that's ok, it's waited about 14 years. Juan came out and did a thorough inspections, explaining what types of paint and prep work would be used. His bid was very reasonable, and he was able to find a carpenter to redo an area of shingles that were giving it up after 100 years. Work started in February but was slowed down by a series of rainstorms, but when better weather arrived the big job was finished in due time, with very good results. Juan recommended that his crew come back in 3 or 4 years for a little touch up and maintenance to make it last. We are very pleased with the job. read more

Juan and his crew at Level Five painted the exterior of our house in Berkeley recently, and they did exceptional work. First, their bid was very competitive -- we received four bids from local painters, and theirs was the best. Juan provided very clear information about the prep work that they would do, the paint they use, etc. The prep work was extremely thorough -- repairing some rot, replacing a few boards, and lots of sanding and scraping. We have wood stairs, and they did a great job prepping that and used some extremely durable paint on the stairs. We've had LOTS of rain in the 4 months since they painted the house, and all looks very good. The quality of the painting throughout was very high -- they sprayed and brushed, and were very thorough to ensure even coverage. Overall, they did great work and I would recommend them with no hesitation for others. I'm sure we will be using them again in the future when we have additional painting needs. read more

After calling one of the most highly reviewed painting companies in the Bay Area and finding out that they were booked for months, I did something different. I asked them who they would recommend if they could recommend one other company. The response was quick and confident: Level Five Painting. We engaged them do the entire interior of our home, then engaged to do the exterior and deck rejuvenation. From start to finish Juan, the owner, and his crews were professional, timely, detail-oriented, and extremely flexible. Juan spent a lot of time with us consulting on quality and color of paint. On multiple occasions he worked with us to do sample spots to make sure we were comfortable with what we were selecting. His crew was incredibly easy to work with and they made a huge effort to ensure that we were happy with every step of the process. The crew is skilled beyond painting. We needed to have some minor stucco repair work done and some trim repairs and Juan and his team had no problem handling that -- work that our contractor assessed as taking longer and being much more expensive than it ended up being with the skilled team from Level Five. Beyond all of that, they were just great guys to have around. Friendly, professional, respectful of our space, the environment, and our day-to-day routines. We barely noticed them most days but we missed them when they were done. I really appreciate the way this business is run and would not hesitate to recommend or rehire them. Level Five's estimate was significantly lower that my other bid to paint the exterior of our duplex (2 story). They completed the job (2 painters) in 10 days. Juan made a couple of independent decisions (placement of accent color) which were an improvement of the previous paint job. The prep and minor rot repair were very good. We did a remodel and needed some really difficult painting done on our 80-year-old house. I have had Juan and his team at Level Five painting do multiple projects for my home and also for my parent's property. I definitely recommend his team. Whenever someone asks for a painting job I had recommended Juan. I usually get multiple quotes for paint jobs but never had anyone that quoted at a more reasonable price than Juan. All his team is really professional, works really hard, and always goes one step further than asked. The final paint work, and detailing was superb, and was always much above expectation. Sometimes he would do jobs that I didn't even ask for and I'll find out with surprise. After the paint job is finished he would always leave leftover paint and supplies with instructions so I could do any touch up paints or fixes if needed in the future which also really helps. Every aspect of the process from the initial phone conversation with Juan (the owner), to the estimate, to the completion of the work, I felt like I was in good hands. I can't say enough about this company! They painted my home some months back and did a wonderful job. My mother, who is 85 years young, needed her home painted and wanted it done before family arrived at from out of town for the holiday. We recommended this company to her. Juan came out to do a walkaround so that he could provide an estimate. I asked him if he would be able to have her home painted by the 4th of July. He informed me that his first opening was not until August, however, since most of her home was siding, he power washed her home and made accommodations to have his workers show up on the weekend to get her home painted before the holiday! Each day they ensure that they clean up all debris from scraping and sanding the old paint off and no supplies left laying around your yard.
