My husband and I LOVE the Stone Room (and their Berkeley location, Stone Room 2!). Tashi and Tenzin, the store owners, are wonderful, and we always love connecting with them. They are truly kindhearted, generous, lovely people. We have also always found their staff to be friendly and helpful. Stone Room is excellent for beginner crystal enthusiasts all the way to serious crystal connoisseurs. Folks who are just getting into crystals can find many different pieces (tumbled, raw, and points) that are beautiful and wonderful to work with/meditate with. For serious crystal collectors, they have many one-of-a-kind collector's pieces. They source from all over the world, and Tashi often travels to different crystal shows and locations to hand-select pieces. They of course have crystals of all styles beyond what I listed here - crystal trees, towers, flames, carved, and more. Whenever you go to shop, you can also ask Tashi, Tenzin, or other staff for recommendations based on what you are looking for. Stone Room has a huge selection across two stores and also a whole incredible warehouse! At the Albany location, I always love looking in the window and the area further back in the shop as they have such amazing, large, high-quality pieces on display there. They also carry real moldavite (extremely powerful crystals for those in the know!). There are some wonderful steals on for clearance too. This was my first time in the store. In 2017 Alan and I window=shopped and admired on our way to dinner at Cugini. I tried to come in Tuesday on the way from Flowerland but they were closed so I returned today. I had in mind a geode for the garden. There was a nice one on the 50% off shelf, w/ the caution to lift it w/ both hands so I waited for assistance. A sweet young woman wrapped up the geode and put it in a sturdy handle bag. When I was rung up the cost wasn't inconsequential even at 50% but my feeling is what use is money if you can't use it to buy what you need or want and I'm fortunate enough to be able to do that. Both young women asked me if I needed help w/ it out to the car and eventually I accepted help. Now the bag is working its way into the house, currently on the landing outside the living room. read more

Store is incredibly overpriced. It looks like a lot of their stock is from Temu or some other cheap supplier and marked up 10x or more. You can literally see the exact same stuff on Temu. Overall quality was lacking. Not a lot of special pieces and of the ones that were there, they were thousands of dollars. Store is very small and store workers intensely stare at you and follow you while you browse. I figured that they probably deal with a lot of theft but it just kind of made me want to leave quickly. The location of the store is nice, why not go to the gem show in Tucson and source some real quality instead of cheap, bulk, Temu stuff? read more

This is a small store with lots of beautiful crystals, stones, rocks and jewelry. The owner is very nice. If you buy a stretchy bracelet and it's too big, she will restring it to fit your wrist at no additional cost. I have visited many of the crystal shops around the Bay Area, but none have gravitationally pulled me in like Stone Room has. I started visiting Stone Room 2 back in December 2022, but the Stone Room in Albany has been the store that I frequent the most. Majority of my crystals have come from them, and I am very thankful for their wisdom and their beautiful stones that come from all over the globe. All of the crystals that you see in this shop are hand-selected and brought back from various states and countries. It's seldom that you find places that have both highly knowledgeable people that are able to answer questions and fulfill your metaphysical needs while also maintaining the correct ambience for the crystals themselves. As you walk into this little shop, you are immediately swept away by the beautiful and harmonious energies that the crystals emit openly with calming, meditative music gently playing in the background. All around you nestled on glass and wooden shelves and along the floor in various containers are crystals of bountiful shapes, sizes, colors, and vibrational frequencies. Unlike other crystal shops that place descriptions for each crystal, majority of the crystals at Stone Room will simply have the name, and potentially its state/country of origin. Their sister store Stone Room 2, being the larger store, will have descriptions, but that is partially because they tend to get a bit busier being next to Berkeley City College, UC Berkeley up the street, and location-wise being in the heart of Berkeley on University. This shop is a bit small, and can only house a select few people at a time, but the crystals within are hidden gems themselves. Aside from raw, tumbled, and variously shaped stones, the shop also offers books (metaphysical/spiritual-oriented, crystal information etc), tarot, pendulums, sage, palo santo, candles, and a plethora of jewelry options (rings, necklaces, bracelets, earrings, etc.) I suggest that if you are looking for jewelry, books, or pendulums specifically to check out Stone Room 2, as their store is bigger and they house a larger selection of those items. However, Stone Room does carry them as well, just not as copious. At Stone Room, you will often be met by Tenzin, who practically has an encyclopedia of knowledge within her mind. Any questions you have about any of the crystals within her shop will be answered diligently and informatively. She has definitely been one of my biggest resources in developing my spiritual growth and intuitiveness within my own personal life. I have positively grown so much over the last 6 months that I have been working with her and her husband Tashi and I am forever grateful for any wisdom, knowledge, and most of all, crystals for my own practice. I am unapologetically one of their frequent customers for the sole reason that they are my strongest resource for my own spiritual development through these wonderful stones, and they always have what I need when I arrive. Did I mention that I have only been visiting these shops for 6 months? I have had this conversation with Tashi, Tenzin's husband, and it honestly feels much longer than that. As if I have known them and have been working with them for years now. Their generosity, hospitality, and willingness to assist you are always present, and it is apparent that they want to aid you in however way they can to help pave the way for you and your personal journey through this life. I like this location a bit more than the University Ave location because of parking. There are definitely bigger towers and crystals there than the University Ave location. Another thing that's different here and why I wanted to post a review for the original location is: they will make jewelry for you. If you see a bracelet you like, but the size is too big- they will make you a custom piece. For me, they made this beautiful lapis lazuli and blue apatite bracelet when the blue apatite bracelet they had was too big. This is also on top of their already great collection of crystals. They also own Stone Room 2 in Berkeley which is bigger, with a wide selection, and close by. 5 star is not enough for this amazing store! My mother, daughter and I just started visiting recently but we feel like we've known owners Tenzin and Tashi for years...like family! I can't explain how loving, caring and genuine they are! They have a beautiful uniqueness about them not to mention the abundance of knowledge they have about crystals and every item they have in the store. They are not your typical seller because they're not just there to make a buck. They're there to help, share and spread their wealth of knowledge and wisdom and most of all the love that all humans should and need to have within themselves. A marvelous sanctuary to visit, wander within and feel vibratory brilliance. And if crystal vibes are not your thing, the visual splendor of nature's marvels will captivate your eyes! The owners are wonderful people, deeply spiritual and very knowledgeable about all things stone and crystal. Recently they hosted Tibetan Buddhist Monks to create a sand mandala in their warehouse, spending a week in creation. We were invited to witness both the creation of the Mandala and ultimately the ceremony of blessing and removal wherein each participant received a small bag of the sand to bring home for our own house blessing. I happened to stop by the Stone Room and was welcomed by the owner (later, I learned her name is Tenzin). More than just customer service, I sensed a very calm and kind presence from her. While I was mesmerized by the collection, she gave me helpful guidance about the stones in relation to each chakra, which led to a more enjoyable conversation, later joined by her husband, whose energy was very much similar to Tenzin. They shared with me about the upcoming event, Sand Mandala, which I find fascinating. I really enjoyed talking with them so much that I was there almost an hour. I found a beautiful blue stone that spoke to me and got myself a gift for 2024.
