This appears to be price gouging of patients and insurance companies thus increasing the costs of health insurance. Some state or federal agency needs to look into their practices. I booked an appointment with Dr. Courtney Goode of UM Eye months ago because my eye doctor had retired and I needed new eyeglass badly. The receptionist, told me I would need to return for a second visit for a prescription because my insurance company would not reimburse them otherwise. That didn't make sense to me but I decided to speak with the doctor. Next, a technician, not a doctor, took me to an eye exam room and informed me that I would get a full exam on the first visit but a second visit was required for a prescription. She said that my insurance did not cover vision or dental. I informed her that this was never the case before. For years, I got an exam and prescription at the same visit. This tech told me this was their office's way of doing business. If I wanted a prescription and exam at this initial visit, I would need to pay $55 for the prescription. My copay with Aetna is $5. I decided not to continue the visit and left. I called Aetna immediately after getting home and was told that my insurance did indeed cover vision and would reimbursed me $200+ for the new glasses. I was then given names of eye doctors in that could give me an appointment within a weeks time.

It's refreshing to experience a professional, fast, and friendly service. The office was clean and had such a friendly atmosphere. I don't think I have ever had such a thorough eye exam in my life. I would definitely recommend barenburg Eye Associates to all friends and family. However, these 3 stood out above the rest. Super Friendly and Professional.

Sheryl, which many other reviews mention is unprofessional and rude took my glasses, didn't take my information and I just left there completely confused. Monday she calls to tell me glasses are in. 2 days later I drive 45 mins to pick up and they are now missing. Solution ....we will call you when we find them. Perfect and complete waste of my day.... A week later ZERO calls about my glasses after I have left several messages asking for a call back. You should have your staff take customer service classes or find new staff to fit the kindness of the doctor. Its a complete mismatch! Your response on google does not surprise me as you still do not see from the consumers eyes. Once again as many others have mentioned this office lacks customer service. This response is non apologetic with starting as "Let me remind you" Oh and thank you for now telling me after I called the office Friday and today left messages for a PHONE CALL, not a text which mind you was not received on my end at 1:29 pm today. A phone call was asked of your office, not a text as clearly I did not receive. Thank you for telling me in a response to a google review that my glasses are back from the misplacement of staff.

I was greeted by pleasant staff (as always) at this location, as it is my first time here. I was given an eye exam along with the standard dilation to check that the inner workings of the eye were good to go (they were). All of this was in preparation for my visit with Dr. Mahdavi. Upon my visit with Dr. Mahdavi, my first impressions are good. He had a great chair side manner, reminded me that he was indeed one of the fellows during my first visits at NRI. He gave me great advice in getting some drops for dry eyes ( making sure it was preservative-free) and I look forward to my future eye visits with him. All in all, thus practice is great at providing excellent eye care.

I didn't realize she made a mistake because she charged me what I was told the price would be (they are deceptive as well). So, I was about to pass out because my eye felt like a serrated knife being jabbed in and out, and I told her so. She started yelling at me "Give us more money, give us more money" into the phone, and I told her I needed to lie down because I was about to pass out from pain, and of course I couldn't really see and had to hang up. Somehow, after several weeks my eyes recovered and I went for another shot from someone different. This Dr was in a hurry and just jabbed the needle in my eye roughly and quickly, ran out of the room, and I ended up with deteriorated vision. If you value your eyes or your eyesight or your life for that matter, do not go to any of the places that are part of this chain. They are dishonest, deceptive, and only care about getting your money.

Having been a…read morepatient with NRI for several years now (going on 4 years), today was the worst appt by far I've ever had with them. They were disorganized, slow, and overwhelmed. It makes me really hesitant to want to do any appointment with them in the future. I arrived at 2:47pm, early for my 3:15pm appointment. I did not finish my appointment until 5:34pm! I had hoped that maybe I would be seen earlier, but that was not the case at all. I waited a little over an hour just to be seen by a tech, with no updates given to me about why there was such a long wait time until I approached the desk. I waited for another 15-20 minutes after dilation to see the doctor. I informed the front desk staff that I changed my insurance and it was quickly forgotten about. - I will say, I could tell the front desk staff were doing their best (it was 2 of them), and they were polite and friendly. But sitting and waiting when I have an appointment for a routine visit (mind you, this is not Urgent Care) was ridiculous to me. -The office & bathrooms are clean, my doctor was nice. It is accessible by subway+bus. -I can no longer recommend this location if this is to be what's expected. I used PTO and made an appt for a particular time so it could be honored. If I wasn't going to be seen until 4:30pm, then I could have made a later appt and left my job later. Management of NRI needs to seriously hire more people, or do not take as many appointments in a day if staff are obviously unable to get every patient seen in a reasonable amount of time. A 30 minute wait is one thing, an hour wait is another. Very disappointed NRI. The Towson location is sorely missed, as I did not wait this long at their now closed Towson location.

My primary eye doctor referred me here after noting an eye issue he discovered on exam. The physicians here provided excellent care and service before, during and after my outpatient procedure. The office support staff are wonderful as well. And yes, some of those follow up appointments consisted of interns accompanying my doctor, but l was asked if it was okay for them to come in and observe. How else are future physicians suppose to learn? Its not like they did my outpatient procedure or were the only ones who conducted my follow up appointments. I definitely would have taken issue with that. They have offices in Towson, on Reisterstown Rd, Pine Heights. Ave. in Baltimore and locations near the D.C. area. As l said, for me they continue to provide excellent care and l will continue to visit for my follow up care in the future.
