Walking into the Leech Pit is like getting vertigo at a strobe filled dance club (oontz oontz oontz) - there's just so much goodness you just need to pause to catch your breath and take it all in. But you can't pause because your heart is pounding and you're giddy with excitement. The rare concert t-shirts, the racks and racks of clothes that serve as documentary of every phase you ever went through, the action toys you spent every afternoon with (and realize you now could be rich if you had kept them instead of letting mom donate them to the stupid kid down the road because you're too old for them now SMH), the records - oh sweet Jesus the records! - and even record players for your new collection! It's a one stop shop for your wildest dreams!! As if the shop wasn't Valhalla on earth on its own, I met the owner too (I think his name was Adam, but he looks like an Izzy). He was damn cool - I think he's probably my long-lost best friend from 6th grade that I used to get in trouble with. When he shows you around you realize he knows every item intimately, because he curated everything in the store. Besides books, they carry a large selection of greeting cards, some art supplies, blank books (journals), notecards, puzzles, and miscellaneous gifts. You can also buy gift cards in any amount, and they will special-order a book for you if it's not in stock The store is well-organized by type of book, both in the new and used sections. It's also a beautiful store, with lots of natural light coming in through the south windows. A plus for this store is that they host lots of book signing for local authors.
