AAA uses this company for car battery problems. They sold me a defective battery that went bad after a few months. The battery was not holding a full charge and was slow to crank. Had the battery tested at O'Reilly and AutoZone, and it failed. Had this company come out twice, but refused to test the battery before first connecting to a battery booster. Per this company, the battery is good, but they refused to test it without first boosting it. If, after being informed, the battery is failing and boosting fixes the problem temporarily, this company should have a better process for testing a defective battery they recently sold, rather than ignoring the original concern. Very disappointed, disappointed with AAA for using this subpar company. read more

This is usually the company that comes out when you call AAA. Long story short I would ask for a different company if this is who they send. I needed a tow and was quoted 250 to take it home. The driver said he could take it to their lot for free & my insurance company would cover it. Turns out my insurance company wouldn't cover it. Went down the very next day to pick up my car. Informed me they're a CHP impound yard (never heard of this before) and charged me 500 dollars & a 65 dollar storage fee. On top of this they got another 175 out of me to tow my car home. Over 700 bucks when my car only needed to be towed about 1 mile to my house. While I was paying them, they said I should just leave it with them and they'll junk it for me. Said they wouldn't make any money on it though. Also tried to tell me my car would be towed if I park it in the street. Surprise surprise. It wasn't towed or ticketed, and it ran fine. Just needed a new tire and to remove the bumper. Sold it a week later for a lot more than free! If AAA does dispatch this company, verify every single thing they say. They made a stressful situation even worse. read more

Lewis towing was going to be the company picking up my 1949 Willis Jeepster from my home. I was provided a time our driver would be there, Lionel was friendly, right on time and a true professional. Lionel loaded my Jeepster right from my driveway. We made it to our destination without a hitch, he backed his big rig up into a narrow spot and unloaded my 74 yr old toy with no problem. Called AAA and they were contracted with. Gave my info to include make , model and year as well as what issue I was having which was the battery. They came and checked the battery and said it was OK and proceeded to jump start. Advisement to run the car for 15 mun to charge the battery and left. I did just that and when tried to restart my car it wouldn't. The battery was dead. I Called AAA which sent them out again and they tell me they will charge for a 2nd call out but I said thus is the same problem and I am requesting they change battery out. He said I should have gave the VIN number so they can have a battery ready. LIE...you don't need a VIN for a battery. He finally stated they didn't have it in stock. I asked them than why did you come out if you don't have the battery in stock, he offered to jumb start my car again. I told him that wasn't going to help solve the problem. He still charged me a 2nd call out. Next day I had the car towed to Bill Wright and the problem was the battery. This company in incompetent! The tow truck driver/owner David Porto had me wait for 2 hours and then called me to pre-qualify me. He asked questions like what class of AAA members are you? How far you are from home? etc. and then told me that he'll see me in 15 minutes. 10 minutes later, I received a text from him stating that his tow truck broke down and he wasn't going to make it. This company will lie to you so they can try and charge $250 for a tow that is supposed to be covered by AAA. Called AAA and told them they are doing this and they said they shouldn't be refusing customers and charging them. Called another company and they picked me and my car up within 20 minutes. I would give 0 stars if I was able to. My boyfriends car was being towed to Toyota the operator Carlos. Put the straps through the tires they were not secure the back driver side tire was lose the whole ride there as we were following behind them. He never put the e brake or put the car is park. He told my boyfriend it didn't need to be put in park because it's "secure" enough. The truck looked as if it was going to flip or give twice during transport. The guy who towed the truck last night back to the house did an amazing job rigged it properly and applied all safety breaks as well as put it in park. I'm just shocked how poorly Carlos has treated the truck and how horrible he was to say he didn't need it apply in brake or put the car in park. read more

I did have to wait a little over an hour as there was another service call ahead of me. I do not find this unusual, as I'm not the only person with car trouble in Bakersfield. DO NOT USE LEWIS TOWING! My daughter is a college student coming home for the summer. Her car would not start so we contacted AAA who dispatched Lewis Towing. The driver arrived and decided he would not tow her car because she had boxes of stuff in the back. Then flagged her account stating she is moving! This is so wrong! And what does boxes have to do with a service we pay for through AAA. And why would I call a tow company to move? Make it make sense! Now it's been difficult to get a tow! I just bought a 2003 BMW Z4 on eBay from Lewis Towing and they cancelled my winning auction within minutes of the auction ending. Now they have re-listed it again on ebay and refuse to respond to my messages. I was making plans to fly over $2,000 mikes to get this vehicle and I can't express how disappointed I am in finding out that they are crooks and don't honor a legally binding winning bid. Had they been happy with the bid amount and I not paid I assure you they would have given me negative feedback. Ebay let them cancel the sale and I can't even leave negative feedback dor their dishonest actions. So here I am, on Yelp, letting you all know they are fraudsters! They done even accept PayPal or credit cards. Sounds like foreign scam artists! Stay away from these people, they have no business ethics! They will do you wrong if it benefits their bottom line! Lewis said that it is a play toy and not a real car so they refused to tow it. Again it is my wife's daily driver and we needed it towed home so I can fix it. Today so I called AAA and requested for towing to same shop so they can recheck and fix the problem... Lewis Towing came so quick ,like in 20 minute they showed up.Adrian was very professional and polite ,did a quick diagnosis and analysis,and gave me options.He saw that the potts on the battery was filled with gunk so he took time to clean it then tested my batteries.Battery was alreay 4 years old and suspect that was the problem ,He gave me options :i can replace or i can have it towed to shop and get it done ,diagnose and pay more money . I didn't even use this business per say. A tow truck belonging to this business was driving through the parking lot at AIS Cancer Center here in Bakersfield, Ca. He was repeatedly honking his loud air horn at a car who was driving looking for a parking spot. Once the vehicle parked he drove around in front of the vehicle he was tailing so they could see him flip them the middle finger. Super unprofessional! Not only for this reason but there are cancer patients who have super high sensitivity to sounds and many other things walking in and out of this parking lot. Maybe speaking with your drivers about how they represent your business outside of the yard might help. Ridiculous!! read more

Really bad experience with these guys! I drive to Bakersfield from Los Angeles one Saturday morning. I arrived there early around 8:00am - 8:10am. Called AAA and they send out Lewis towing and they arrived around 8:30 am , which I though to myself, that was fast. But hey, their here. Driver ( which seems cool at the time) loads my Chevy C30 and asks if my friend and I were riding with him. We said no, but we are going to drive along him, back to Los Angeles. The guy says ok! So while we're in transit (so I thought) he decides to call dispatch and notify them that his tow truck is having mechanical issues. He drives back to his tow yard and unloads my truck. I got the feeling this guy never had the intention of making the drive, he wanted to secure that Lewis tow got the job. We get to the yard, unloads my truck. I call Lewis tow and ask them what's going on. Young lady at the desk states that's the tow truck is having issues and that another driver was on his way to load the vehicle by 10am which was never loaded at that time. I asked the lady, I would of rather waited longer time to load one time and get the vehicle on the freeway then waiting around for this crap. I had made it clear that the mechanic was waiting the my vehicle before 1 pm. I called the young lady and she assured me that my vehicle was on its way. Nothing but lies, their trained to do so. Finally my vehicle arrives around 2:30pm. As you can guess I was pretty upset. Theses guys are unprofessional, they don't care for their customers. Had to have my car towed home last night. Called AAA to take care of it. I was told by AAA that a tow truck would arrive by 9:30 pm, thats a hour and a half wait.. Well, i was told by an employee at one of the businesses where I was, that I really need to be out of the area before the sun goes down, because of the high crime rate. Our friends and I were coming coming from a Car show, And we were heading home and our friends were in front of us and hit a pot hole. We all pulled over and they called AAA, and they dispatched this company. The company was suppose to be here in 45 mins, the driver called said he would be here I. 20 mins new right where we were. It took 40 mins if not more. He comes with a sling/min it man, when it was requested a flat bed , don't bring a Chevy truck. The driver said he couldn't tow it because it sits to low. We New he wouldn't be able to. He said he called his dispatch and it would be another 45 mins. 45 mins comes and go. Called and that driver said that the truck is on hydraulics lol the driver is a damn idiot because that truck isn't on hydraulics. And needless to say we are still waiting, and now arguing with AAA.
