Here's the scoop: I was driving from LA to Monterey late one evening and suddenly my headlights began to flicker and my battery light came on. I began to lose accelerating power and my heart was racing. My alternator was dying. Of all the stretches of road along the 5 freeway that would have landed me in the middle of nowhere I was fortunate enough to stall right at an exit with a gas station.
